Jan 1, 2014I have never left a review for a game. But I felt as if this was necessary so others don't blow 64$ on a terrible game. The maps are unorganized, the rate in which you die is even more terrible, on top of the dated graphics which are more troublesome than game play. I have been a pretty damn good and competitive COD player since COD red one. I feel as if I am forced to camp in order to go positive in K/D. Campaigns in COD have bored me for years. I lea e the campaigns for when the internet goes down. I purchased ghosts and a day later I traded this game in. I chose to buy Ghosts after some frustration with Battlefield 4 not being able to destroy opponents and carry a team. But this was the biggest mistake ever the call of duty train is coming to a screeching halt this year...… Expand
Jan 3, 2014A lot of people have said that COD has not changed since COD 4. But the reason why Ghosts is so terrible is because the series has strayed so far from what made it brilliant to begin with, it has turned into a giant, empty, miserable, clichéd, horrific and frustrating mess. COD was always about small maps, fast gameplay, racking up massive kill streaks and using the simple maps to your advantage. The beauty was choosing your fav weapon and pwning for an hour or two in a highly addictive multiplayer. Now I can not bare to play for more than ten minutes. The maps are a mess, it's as if they let a kid loose of the Toni Hawks map creator. There is no symmetry, no logic, no routes to take. It's just a case of wondering round for two mins until you are shot in the back by a guy camping in a random spot. The levelling up system is a joke and upgrading weapons is overly complicated and takes for ever. They have removed imo the some of the best game types, Demolition and Search And Destroy. Kill streaks are impossible to get and the lag is worse than ever. I used to be a 2.5 kd average played, I've got Nukes and racked up kills of 100-12 in MW2. I consider my self a decent player, even in mw3 I bothered to play up to 10th Prestige. I put 26 days into COD 4 around 30 in MW2, around 12 in MW3 so I must have some sort of skill, yet in Ghosts I'm getting games where I go 5-19 deaths!!! They have destroyed the COD franchise at last, we knew it was happening. But I genuinely believed this would be a back to their roots game, I thought the Ghosts title was a hint at a more MW2 like game. But no we got this. I'm really disappointed because for the last few years I’ve been chasing the dragon. Hoping for a game as great as COD 4 or MW2 but it just gets worse. I don’t think I'll even bother putting in more than 3-4 hours into the multiplayer. My advice is avoid at all costs, this is nothing like COD. It's just a sad reminder of a once great game now ruined by idiots who no nothing about gaming or what gamers want from COD.… Expand
Jan 9, 2014I was sincerely hoping that the new Ghosts would be able to follow up Black Ops 2, but I was sorely disappointed. My primary concern with this new installment is that the game is simply not fun. There have been numerous times where I have been on a nice kill streak and I get killed, only to spawn, take two to three steps, and get killed again. The new perk system was intended to diversify play style, but there are some perks such as quick draw that are indispensable, and many others that are relatively worthless. The maps are so large, and the spawning so terrible, that players who aren't as proficient are relegated to hiding in corners in order to escape getting constantly shot in the back. There are not many guns compared to its main competitor BF4, which I play as well. The campaign and extinction were only OK. The primary reason that people bought ghosts is for the multi-players experience, but with all of these glaring problems, I find it hard to get into it. Truthfully, the only reason I haven't returned it is because there are only a few titles for PS4, and GameStop won't give me half of what I paid for it. I'll just wait until Destiny comes out, and never play it again. I am only giving it a five because it works, just not as well as I had anticipated. And don't buy into those reviews that give it a perfect score. Obviously those are severely biased, and I am being as honest as I can about my experiences, not trying to sell you on a game that isn't enjoyable.… Expand
Mar 13, 2014I'm not a demonic Call of Duty fanboy like most of the people who have given this game 0s and 1s so perhaps I can offer a bit of unbiased insight...well no, who am I kidding? This is my first Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 2 and 4 years later it definitely feels like the same game. Not terrible, but nothing revolutionary either. I have chosen to play unappealing games like Knack and Lego Marvel Superheroes over COD Ghosts just to give an idea of how boring this game quickly becomes. Didn't finish the campaign, didn't rank past Level 10 in multiplayer, and I will likely never touch this game again not because it's bad, but because it simply doesn't bring anything new to the table. I can play Call of Duty 4 or Modern Warfare 2 and have an identical experience.… Expand
Jan 17, 2014Based on online multiplayer only...Giving this a 2 only because it could be so great but once again its blackops 2 and mw3 revamped. All the promises of no quick scoping, dedicated servers is all rubbish I see no difference what so ever. Hit markers miles off, you can kill easy and do amazing only to go in another lobby and not stand a chance. I could go on forever how bad this game is, I'll just make sure I rent the next game later this year instead of buying year after year and being let down. Black ops 1 and world at war still had the same issues but they were my top 2 in the series… Expand
Jan 21, 2014I was excited for this game, it was the first one I got for PS4. It was a mistake. The games are so slow paced and the spawns are as bad as ever. The game may have done well, but certain features like the guard dog killstreak and overpowering lag compensation allowing bullets to hit you when you are already around the corner from them ruins it. Also, the way people play the game, just camping to try to get a K.E.M. strike is the worst part. Infected is the only mode I get enjoyment from. It really is a shame. I suggest BF4 over this.… Expand
Feb 18, 2014I've never been a fan of Call of duty campaigns and even though i didn't particularly like Black ops twos campaign, i praised it for being different and trying something new.
Ghosts campaign however must be one of the most boring in the whole of the franchises history. Every level is more or less the same, follow a guy, stop when he tells you to, follow him some more, kill four or five bad guys, then repeat.
The implementation of Riley the dog i personally thought bordered of ridiculous and the characters were exact carbon copies from past games.
The mutli-player was marketed on having "dynamic map changing events (similar to battlefield), yet all i've ever seen in the oversize maps, is a petrol station blowing up, one map change due to a kem strike and being able to move dumpsters.
While ive now got used to the multi player, after originally being frustrated with how fast you die, I still don't necessary find it all that fun to play.
It was always going to be hard to compete with last years higher standard call of duty published by Treyarch and sadly, ghosts doesn't come close.… Expand
Feb 28, 2014The game is good if you want to play GameBattles. But overall it's pretty bad. A campaign without a good story. The multiplayer is bad except for GameBattles that I mentioned earlier.... I have played all of the Call of Duty games and I have to admit. This is the most disappointing one.
May 27, 2014Good but short campaign mode, you end up wanting to play more, specially the space and diver missions. Single player parts in the games this days feels more like just a warm up to play the multiplayer game. Finished it in about 6 hours of game play... With that say it was fun and the graphics look really good.
May 22, 2014I only played MW2 then got into Ghosts. Campaign was entertaining. Graphics are really good. Lots of customization and character load outs. I struggled at first with multiplayer because I died often, as getting to know the maps takes time. Once I familiarized myself with the maps my KD went up. Currently at 4.5+ on team death match. Once I started to tell the enemy what I started to have fun yes. I still miss MW2. Damn you hackers.… Expand
Jul 13, 2014this blew my head... or it would if the guy behind me didn't blow my head off first. but seriously this did not feel like another seasonal shooter it felt like a new franchise. the new customization changes who you are literally. you can customize your load out and tailor your class just to your liking. Also they made a new game mode called "extinction" which is a mode where you defeat hordes of aliens. the campaign was like a story that moved me. words cannot describe how i felt. with new challenges being thrown at you you have many very different types of objectives that keeps you on the edge of your seat for whats going to happen next.… Expand
Jan 30, 2014Not a bad game, but also not a really good one. Same old COD story, gameplay and graphics. Since it's on a next-gen console you have some expectations, but this game looks bad, especially when you compare it to Battlefield 4 and even more so to Killzone Shadow Fall.
So to me it's not a must buy, but you should consider it if you're a die-hard COD multiplayer fan.
Nov 26, 2013The best CoD since MW1 +2 . + Finally, a new graphics engine The game runs again with 60 permanent frames and already feels like the old parts awesome on the movement and aiming . + Finally back bigger maps! So also again recoil from the weapons important as was the case already in MW1 +2 . + The new Perkmodus is very complex and like it very very much! + Improved Killstreaks Radar anti radar has been removed Very good Activision !
+ The soldiers level system I like also very good in multiplayer. They can also be equipped with new clothes and there is finally the famous MW1 "Sniper Grass Cloth .
+ Soldiers troops Mode Very awesome You can play up his own squad The ki takes over the other That brings hundreds of hours of game play The AI is even to very good (I do not know a shooter with better AI )
+ Alien mode: Ghosts vs Zerg Starcraft2 is a very brilliant op mode makes a lot of fun with friends and brings again a few hours of game play .
+ The new registration system of weapons is MUCH better than BO2 No, there are no overpowered weapons. I can use any weapon to defeat someone. The new Perksystem you can also get many abilitys reach for small medium and long range SMG Rifle Sniper .
+ The sound such steps was adjusted back to the old share .
+ Single Player I have not tried yet .
- A few cards are kinda too big
- Connection Problems (but the quantity playing the game no wonder .
10/10 Buy it!… Expand
Apr 17, 2014Waayyy too much testosterone on show here. So much in fact I wonder if the whole game is some homo-erotic in-joke.
You're in space...you're a dog...you're in a tank that handles like a Ferrari and so on.
Buy it. Play it. Then sell it to some poor sod on ebay.
Jun 8, 2014Singleplayer was really short, it shows off the same graphical engine as 2007.
Even with a console coming up that tear, the future call of duty was still focused on using the same engine, for 7 years.
i'm done with buying call of duty games, unless all my friends recommend me to play it.
Make a new engine to revive the dying franchise.
the score i will give this game is a 3/10
Dec 30, 2013Unfortunately Call of Duty/Activision/Infinity Ward has failed to produce a game worthy of the next gen hardware. Multiplayer is slow and clunky, gone are the days of fast paced fun. Most of the maps are great for hiding and waiting or sniping from a perch, the thrill of the game is gone. I was not hoping for much, it is Call of Duty, but to waste $60 on this game is a slap in the face of Killzone:Shadowfall, which is a much better game. Killzone:Shadowfall was built for the PS4, looks gorgeous, has an interesting campaign, and the multiplayer is fast paced. Activision really needs to look at the formula and retool what is not working, which at this rate is the entire design of the game.… Expand
Nov 23, 2013Ghosts is a little disappointing to me. The graphics are clean but fall really short compared to most other ps4 games. The pacing of the campaign crawled more than it ran and it feels like they went through a checklist of previous environments to build it with the exception of the masterfully crafted space sections. The ending did leave me wanting the sequel which is always a good thing. The gunplay is tight as ever and the tweaking of the weapons finally makes every choice equal. The patches feel like a big step down from the customization of black ops but the outfits and helmets are a step in the right direction. It's just a shame they all look similar and there was never a carrot at the end of a string for me to chase. Squads is laughable and makes me wonder what they were thinking. I'd much rather have one character that truly feels like my creation. Don't get me wrong, ill spend countless hours on ghosts but I hope they try harder in the future. The bread is getting stale, at least put some jelly on it for me.… Expand
Feb 12, 2014I thought this would have been better on the PS4 but clearly its a copy and paste of the PS3 version. Same crap different console. I would avoid getting this game, even with the £10 upgrade from the PS3 version, its still not worth the money.
Avoid this game.
Dec 3, 2013I really do not understand the negative reviews this game is getting. All the core elements that make up the call of duty franchise are present and accounted for. I agree it hasn't made any leaps or bounds and charging people £50 for a new short story and some new online maps is perhaps excessive but there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the game itself. The graphics on the PS4 are brilliant, the controls are tight as usual. If you want to sit for 4 hours and not see anyone to shoot online get Battlefield, otherwise get COD.… Expand
Nov 25, 2013I have been a long time COD fan and the series has been getting worse since MW2 IMHO. Ghosts isn't any better. The maps aren't good and the game play is stale. I haven't been enjoying Ghosts at all, but I have started playing Battlefield 4 which I am enjoying a lot. Especially now Battlefield has a nice mix of Massive, Medium and Close Quarters combat in its playlists. Anyways I wouldn't suggest COD Ghosts, try something else for an online shooter. Hope this helps! Like I said i have been a long time, hardcore fan of COD and want to like Ghosts but don't. Oh and the graphics are terrible, after playing battlefield ghosts looks like a cartoon.… Expand
Dec 9, 2013While it plays well and returns that familiarity to its fast paced combat, COD: Ghosts is just not impressive enough to warrant anything more than a mid-range score. Ghosts has new improvements such as corner peeking, destructible environments and a much better scope for snipers. However, the fact that all of these features are already common staples in other FPS games just makes it feel very underwhelming.
Add on top of the fact that the real reason why COD was so competitive in the last generation was due to hardware limitations. It balanced out the lack of features with its slick gameplay at 60 frames-per-second. Unfortunately, at the dawn of a new console generation, its competitors will now enjoy the same smooth gameplay as well as its abundance of features, while COD is seemingly just playing catch up this time around.
COD Ghosts is enjoyable at what it does. It's just not the best at doing it anymore. I'm pretty sure the lack of innovation had a lot to do with Activision firing Infinity Ward's top developers, which in turn caused a mass exodus of its employees. (they all went on to develop Titanfall, which is looking to be a game changer)… Expand
Nov 23, 2013I have not minded any of the campaigns in COD before. That being said, this is the worst story I have ever had to take part in. At no point did I care about any of the characters or who lived or died. The plot line is way out there and they need to step it back a bit and go for something a bit more believable.
Online connects very fast with games and is fun for a short time. It isn't like the others where you feel like you are moving up the ranks and having fun doing it. It is a shame Battlefield 4 is broken and COD gave us this for a new console launch. Last years games would have been better than this so far.… Expand
Sep 7, 2014Meh. Nothing really great. The multiplayer is okay, but too many freezes and too long of delay in the gaming lobby means you could wait around 10 mins for a game only to freeze upon playing. Bit of joy-kill. Also seems there has been a massive drop in the number of people who play this online. I've been playing these titles since CoD 3. But this is my last one.
Dec 2, 2013When I see the start of a user review with 'Dont play this game' or This game is terrible' I immediately think hater and regardless of whether it was good or not they were never going to score it well. So skip all those reviews scoring 0 or 1 just wasting the space on here. Oh the game is sweet I like it a lot.
Dec 1, 2013The worst CoD multiplayer wise, the maps are horid, too big and everyone camps, and to top it off kill streaks, removed features that made the game better from Black Ops 2, and many removed game modes.
Other than that the rest is solid.
Extintion is better than zombies
Squads is fun
the campaign is jaw dropping. Although they give you less freedom.
Feb 11, 2014Another year, another CoD. Really, what is there to say about this game? In all aspects it's worse than Treyarch's offering last year, but that doesn't make it a terrible game. Truthfully, it's average at best. The campaign is brief, but strangely the story is really uninvolved and unengaging. Weirder still, I found the voice acting in spots to be truly terrible. Graphically, it's meh, and certainly doesn't represent what next gen can bring.
The multiplayer is enjoyable, but I find it a lot less fun than in BO2. It's really hard to pinpoint why, just that something is missing. Overall, average game.… Expand
May 6, 2014While not as good as most of the latest CoD games, this has the variety and the set pieces that define the CoD quality of the post-CoD4 era. It has a better campaign than BF and while it doesn't have an identity as previous CoD's (the dog is mostly unrelated... jeez marketing...) and the bad guy SUCKS A$$, it still manages through the variety of the levels and the setpieces to make it to the AAA games.
The story could be a lot better and a lot more original, but it distincts itself through a few details (the dog, space and the sea) I don't believe that Ghosts can make what Modern Warfare did, but I would like to see the follow-up to the story. This is the worst of the 3 CoD franchises (Modern Warfare and Black Ops being the other 2) but still better than the BF stories.
Thank God, the multi is there.... though the aliens are not up to par with the zombies...… Expand
May 10, 2014Story:
You play as Logan, a mute protagonist who's purpose is to kill hundreds of South Americans without showing a single sign of emotion. Why do shooters still have mute protagonists? They make it impossible to develop a relationship with the protagonist, they make certain scenes awkward when characters are referring to them, and they make character death scenes less emotionally engaging. I'm disappointed in the story not just because of its mute hero, but because of everything else. Most of the characters here are weak (besides the infamous puppy known as Riley :P), The dialogue and voice acting are bland, and the plot often gets jumbled up as you're thrown from one country to another and from one set piece to another. Treyarch has shown us that Call of Duty games can have good single player experiences. Clearly these guys can tell a better story than IW can. The only good thing I can say about the story mode is the ending since it has a nice twist to the normal Call of Duty ending that we see (even if it's a sequel setup). 4/10
Standard Call of Duty gameplay just this time, you're more restricted to experiment with different strategies and pathways than before. most of the time it's "follow X, Wait for X to give you permission to fire, fire, repeat". It's stupid why they decide to restrict player access. One more thing, you only control Riley twice in the single player. Why did they hype up this dog? 5/10
On PS4 (sorry PC guys for an inferior port), These graphics have the best textures out of any Call of Duty, but the colors are weaker compared to Black Ops 2. 7/10
The score isn't really that good. I barely noticed it during my playthroughs of the single player (please come back Hans Zimmer), and the gameplay sounds are what you expect from a Call of Duty game. 6/10
The multiplayer here is only slightly better than Black Ops 2's multiplayer for a few reasons: The maps (although larger here) don't use the same lazy 3-lane layout that was in 90% of Black Ops 2, the character customization is cool, no more stupid weapon levels to earn attachments, squads mode is a cool idea (multiplayer against bots), extinction is a nice replacement to zombies (although repetitive), more new gamemodes, and a surprisingly lack of overpowered guns/equipment. Besides the AK12, MSBS, M-tar X, Ripper, IEDs, and the Remmington R5, This game is more balanced than Black Ops 2, but not as balanced as Black Ops 1. I also like what they did with the customization. As said, there's character customization (no emblem editor), the new perk system is cool, the strike packages return (just not as annoying as Modern Warfare 3), the gender option is appreciated, and the create a class although not like Black Ops 2's pick 10 system, is a nice mix between that system along with classic Call of Duty class systems. The big problem with the multiplayer are the spawns, lack of dedicated servers, some hit detection issues, and how fast you die. I eventually got used to this, but I know some people who despise this feature as it encourages camping in their eyes. I also liked the return of currency in the form of squad points. They are earned at random times in matches, completing challenges and operations, or by completing field orders (brief in game mini-challenges). The extinction mode is IW's response to zombies. It features a hidden story (though not as elaborate as zombies), 4 player co-op, and a ranking system. But this time around, it features prestige mode, custom loadouts, different roles, boss fights, and actual endings rather than death. In the end, zombies is still better but that doesn't mean extinction is weak. Squads mode is also a great way for newbies to get used to the game since it's your squad of multiplayer characters (10 max, 6 at a time per match) vs another player's squad. You still earn XP (even if it's a little), squad points, and occasional XP boosts for squads. Overall, Ghost's multiplayer isn't as bad as everyone's been saying it is. 7/10
Ghosts can be frustrating to play on multiplayer if you don't like dying too fast, but in the right lobby, the multiplayer's a ton of fun to play (as with all Call of Duties). The story may be weak and the gameplay similar to previous Call of Duties, but the improvement in texture quality and in overall multiplayer is enough to say that this game's worth a price drop. Rating 7/10… Expand
Jan 10, 2014Ghosts is an excellent game, don't be fooled by the haters, if call of duty is your thing then buy it, you won't be disappointed. Mar 24, 2014Never in my gaming career have i given a Call of Duty game a perfect score... However, Ghosts truly deserves it! Not only does this game feature a refined multiplayer experience but a truly awesome alien themed co-op experience that is a welcome change of pace from the usual zombies! Now put both of those things aside, the real reason to come to Ghosts is for is amazing single player campaign! The story is told in a truly masterful fashion and features some crazy set pieces that really have to be seen to be believed! If you're someone who has given up on the series I implore you to give Ghosts a try, you won't be sorry that you did!… Expand
Mar 31, 2014This game is perfect, perfect for showing us what's wrong with game criticism!
Critics are way to easily paid of by these big companies to give a higher score then they would have, i mean just look at the difference between the actual score and the score that critics give!
Please stop being sell outs and take back honesty in gaming!
Also this game is even bad for being another COD.
Feb 26, 2014As a first person shooter fun,Call of duty series is always my choose year by year, especially modern warfare,it gives me great memory,of course black ops series is great, but for me, call of duty developed by infinity ward is real call of duty.so although i hesitate, but still pick up this game:Ghost, looking for a new start for this series, and, unfortunately ,it's not.
Single player review:
After world war 3,Russian seems to get tired,so the south america is coming,OK,cut the crap, the single player is a huge disappointed to me,it's short, very short, when it came to the end,i just can't believe it's over, then it's no different from it's predecessor, which is bad for all COD fun,not gonna lie,it's the worst single player experience i have in COD series,i don't know why IW didn't pay enough attention to SF,yeah i know MP is important, but it's irresponsible to make it that way for all the funs.
After bad and sad SF experience,as i always do,start MP,surprisingly,it's good! maybe better than MW 3 in some way,the maps have different style, not just street battle, some maps looks like BF,it's big, whether you are a sniper or carry a auto rifle ,you will love the long shot, and Create a soldier is gorgeous! and perks is more, practical, interesting, make you don't wanna stop to gain it,but overall, still no different from it's predecessor.so if you want some real innovation, hold that though.
After all ,call of duty ghost become a sport game,IW don't want to break the rules,so nothing more nothing less, like it or hate it,i might wanna stop hope that this series will have some real fresh start, and don't know where the franchise will leave.… Expand
Aug 5, 2014Boring, very linear with no options or ability to choose where to go next. A huge disappointment and a big step back. Compared to games like Far Cry 3 on the PS3 this offers nothing new or interesting and for a PS4 release there really should have been something more to offer than slightly polished graphics.
Jul 4, 2014Call of Duty. A franchise who's only intention is to make themselves as rich as possible and make you as poor as possible. A franchise which prioritizes money over fan satisfaction, every single time. They could of quite easily changed the game from top to bottom with the amount of money they get, they could of not released it annually, but oh no, that's too risky for them. Dec 29, 2013A lot of people have been trained to hate COD but as my first COD game, I have to say it's really amazing.
The single player campaign is great and every level is unique, you could be using stealth one level, underwater the next, in space the next and then defending a ship! The story and campaign itself is great compared to nearly any FPS of it's kind.
Squads is the best thing I've ever seen in an online FPS.
Multiplayer is great and the game is beautiful on the PS4.… Expand

But being able to customize your guy is really fun and one of cool things they have in this game. Nov 29, 2013You know, I'm so sick of this hater BS on this site. I bet, out of the 458 people who gave this game a low score, only 20 of them actually played the game. This is beyond pathetic for people to do this sh** to a game they probably never even played before. You people need to shut the fu** up and get a life.
Anyway, this is my opinion on the game.
Not original, full of cliches, but at the same time, its a darn good one. Its not perfect, but the missions did make my heart race at times, so I'm actually very pleased with this campaign.
On PS4, Ghosts looks ten times better than its god awful looking PS3 counterpart. Texture quality is great, gameplay is very fluid, and the controls are as smooth as ever. Only negative thing though, there are framerate issues that are very noticeable.
Still the same as before, but still solid. There are some improvements to it, CQC is more challenging, and the difficulty helps with it, you die faster on the higher difficulties, and not every mission will feel the same.
Honestly, I don't care much for CoD Mp anymore. This game's Mp is solid, but at the same time, forgettable. The new game modes, however, are fun to play, especially Ground War since the maps are huge now.
There are two Coop modes for this game, Extinction and Safeguard. Extinction is somewhat similar to Treyarch's zombies mode, but instead uses aliens and involves a actual objective. This is fun, challenging, and feels fresh and new for CoD. Safeguard is basically MW3 Survival, but with 4 players instead of two. It is definitely better with 4 people, but I honestly think the original Survival was better.
Ghosts is definitely worth the time to play on the PS4. Mp may leave something more to be desired, but the campaign and coop modes make up for an, otherwise, forgettable experience.… Expand
Dec 25, 2013I think that this is a pretty good game. Any FPS that makes me want to run around my house in a ghillie suit is a good game and this game made me want run around with a ghosts mask. However that was the campaign the multiplayer gave me flashbacks of MW3 where my opponents would spawn about 5 meters behind me and get an easy kill. But after a while I would get use to it but that's only because I love COD. If anyone either doesn't love COD or wants to try COD this isn't a good place to start. Moving back to the campaign the one problem I had was most of the time my team and the opponents looked about the same. To sum up it's an okay game for die hard fans but for people who don't love COD it might not be the best COD to start with.… Expand
Feb 22, 2014A fairly decent game from Infinity Ward, A story thats quite divisive in its objective to deliver pulse pounding, some fans will feel off put by the story, some will be drawn in, The Multiplayer has seen better days but the amount of customisation available makes it so there's something for everyone
Jan 8, 2014This game is not bad however for a call of duty it is terrible. Know i am not the kind of gamer that says COD sucks because it isn't Battlefield since to be honest they are very different games. However the game still has it's own issues.
1. Maps are big which often means people spread about all over the place instead of fighting in one area. This means that quite often when you spawn on one side of the map a member of the enemy team is already near you since they have simply went through the map without seeing anyone since everybody is spread out.
2. You die far to quickly even for a call of duty game. It literally becomes the game of who can shoot first. This makes getting a kill unrewarding if i am playing Killzone,Battlefield 4 or even Black ops 2 i am happy when i get a kill because i earned that kill where in Ghosts it's like well done i managed to something my dog would probably be able to do. This lack of caring often leads to the games feeling boring. Yes boring for the first time ever i can describe a COD as being boring.
3. It is the same formula as MW3. Know i understand what COD wants to do and i'm happy they do that but Infinity ward really need to change up their COD's like Treyarch do but it just feels like a game we got 2 years a go. When Battlefield is making maps with great destructibility, Killzone is making beautiful world and Titan fall has got jumping between rooftops, Call of duty is doing the same thing.
However the campaign is good for COD i think but again it's not great it's just good. Also the game functions fine and some people will probably love it and i can kind of understand it.

Mar 28, 2014Where can I start, the graphics for a cross platform game are quite damn good, with realistic lighting, smooth smoke/fog effects and no texture pop in and screen tearing. The campaign for a modern shooter is filled with typical hollywood effects and explosive sequences. Because the campaign mode is not at the heart of the game it doesn't hold the game back too much. The multiplayer is where it's at it is filled with tons of contents such as maps, modes, weapons, tactical equipment, attachments, reticles, skins, camos etc. The maps are extremely well made, there are truly diverse and colourful and filled with potential for your little playground. There is so much content to keep you entertained for months and months. I love it!… Expand
Mar 26, 2014Yeah, I do thing Activision don't know what's inovation. They promise new great graphics, and the game doesn't have. The campaign, well, I gotta admit, it's pretty good. The multiplayer is going to worth for 10 hours, but after that you stop enjoying it, and you are probrably going to stay on bf4, or gta V, the last of us, etc. Anyway, there's a mode against aliens. I don't liked it. The graphics are bad.… Expand
Dec 6, 2013Another year, another Call of Duty. If you've played any of the previous ones then you pretty much know what you are getting into by now. The Campaign mode wasn't bad and the story was alright. It wasn't anything special. I most played it since a majority of the trophies in the game come from the Campaign. The Multiplayer mode plays essentially like everything Call of Duty. It runs smoothly and with dedicated servers the online mode is much better. However, with much larger maps snipers are much more common and sometimes the match pacing is really slow. Also, the graphics show almost no growth compared to the last-gen. Essentially, if you are a fan of Call of Duty you will most likely enjoy this game. New players: not so much.… Expand
Dec 18, 2013Despite the story involving cartoonishly black and white good and evil forces being as dumb as you could expect the campaign is actually fun. The most entertaining COD campaign since the original Modern Warfare. You move from one exciting well designed scenario to the next at a good pace. The game is mostly thrills until the bland tank mission straight out of 2005 towards the end. Even so, story campaigns aren't the main draw of COD. Ghosts MP is easily the worst COD MP and up until now I've been a staunch defender of the series.
Minor changes and additions have been made. Like vaulting animation over obstacles, leaning around corners has been brought back even though it's contextual and clunky, you've got a wider range of customization options, your avatar now slides if going prone from sprint. However, despite the graphical upgrade for next gen platforms gunplay still feels like last gen especially when put up against Battlefield 4.
By itself that's not a big deal but there are other design and technical issues that drag this game down. The biggest of which is the map design. It's horrible... really, the din is no exaggeration. In recent CODs (and even Battlefield) there has been a noticeable push towards rat maze like maps with lots of sharp corners and entry ways. This is intentionally designed to make it difficult for skilled players to be able to efficiently clear a room upon entering and to increase randomness to increase the chances novices get easy random kills. Ghosts takes this to another level. The maps are the most massive and convoluted I've seen in a commercial FPS. The also have way too much visual noise with litter and various back ground objects clutter screen space. This greatly encourages camping. COD is known for camping noobs but this is the first time where it seems like every single player in the lobby camps and it's the only valid playing style.
The mess doesn't stop at the awful maps. The game often suffers from stuttering issues (albiet not as bad post patches) and maps take longer than ever to load. Which is surprising after BO2's brisk loading speed. This is especially a problem when the game puts you right back in the lobby you just left because of horrible lag compensation. Yep, after four games they still can't figure this out. The first two weeks it played well but after a recent Double XP weekend it's back to the same old half a second behind bull**** and desynchronised enemy player models, hit boxes, and aim assist boxes.
Squads mode is probably the concession to players on the bad end of lag comp. It gives you a cropped MP experience with any mixture of AI and human opponents. Problem is, in an effort to keep MP legitimate (something they failed to do by design), you can't unlock customizables or do challenges and that's where most of the xp comes from. Bigger problem still is you can only have 6 opponents at a time and these maps are really horrible for only six opponents as you can run around for minutes only to get sniped by some AI through a bush you couldn't see through a mile away. Best option option you're left with if you want the MP experience is to go into Local/Private match and turn up the amount of bots you can play against and hike up the difficulty. Your mileage with this will vary as everything is unlocked in those modes.
Only thing left is Extinction mode. Where once you unlock sentry guns and match up with others who have as well you can easily blast through the only scenario available in about an hour. Beyond that there's no reason to go back.
Ghosts is an appropriate name. This game is an apparition of a once great franchise. Some of the fundamentals of that golden era remain but they've tarnished with age and are bogged down with confused and awful design and technical issues. It's decent as a rental for the campaign but the competition has options that are similar to what COD is known for and for the first time does it much better.… Expand
Jan 26, 2014Just when I thought Call of Duty could make a come back. With the surprisingly great Black Ops 2 I seemed promising. Then Call of Duty Ghosts came along and it's terrible. Everything in this game is boring. It's the most stereotypical Call of Duty of the series. Worthless and boring campaign, the same multiplayer with slight tweaks and variations and extinction is fun but gets boring very quickly. This is by far the worst in the series. I would recommend waiting to see what Black Ops 3 (I'm assuming) has in store DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!… Expand
Nov 24, 2013Can not tell you how bad this game is, its graphics are Not Next-Ge even thought it is on PS4. Boring and short campaign and mediocre multiplayer that adds little compared to any other COD. The voice acting is "Okay" as in worse than it has ever been and facial animations aren't great but not too bad. Game play is still boring and short, cluster of fire fights then end mission rinse repeat until game is over.… Expand
Mar 6, 2014Ghost is just okay for an arcade game. The game is playable if the community of young campers aged under 12 years are forgotten. Several map are too big for as little amount of player. Must still say that the game is "Correct". Of course it will never surpass MW2 or even games such as Battlefield.
Dec 26, 2013Graphics: The graphics are a step up from the last generation consoles, but it isn’t the best on the PS4. It is still without a doubt the best looking Call of Duty game, but compared to Battlefield 4 and Killzone Shadow Fall it still falls short to really impress. 8.5.
Sound: The soundtrack featuring Eminem is a nice addition, the gun sounds actually sound more realistic than the previous MW3 title. The voice acting is average but nothing spectacular, some of the dialog may seem kind of dull. The tactics in the voice acting (during gameplay) seems professional, its just some of the main characters that may sound corny at times. 9.
Gameplay: This is by far the best campaign I have played, not the best story experience, but indeed the best scripted events in a Call of Duty game. The levels do a great job of providing enough action, and stealth gameplay, it’s a good mix that keeps you interested in playing the campaign. The multiplayer side is Call of Duty, it seems very similar to previous titles, and only the guns feel slightly different. The game modes, new characters, and even a new extinction mode (like a zombies mode), but still its very similar to past Call of Duty titles. With that said, COD has had its formula and it is very popular which is why each year’s addition will only seem minor changes. 9.5.
Story: The story is your average die hard action game, or comparison to the movie industry, a popcorn flick. It can leave you on the edge of your seat or just in complete boredom. For me, I enjoyed it, there were corny parts but it ended on a strong note. 9.
Replay Value: Campaign seemed a little longer than the previous COD games (I play all COD’s on veteran), it was definitely easier, but also very fun. Multiplayer is still the arcady COD gameplay that can be addicting. Spec Ops doesn't’t see a return but survival (now known as squads), and a new extinction mode (which looks like the developers will be building on that, probably through DLC). I can recommend this game to any COD fan, if you know COD, you know why you’re purchasing this game, and it will be worth the experience you want. 10.
Overall Score: 9.2 out of 10.… Expand
Nov 24, 2013This is coming from a COD fan that started playing the franchise when it was still in the WWII era. Everyone knows COD 4 MW started the FPS era.
Unfortunately if you have played any game from COD 4 up to BO 2, then this is much of the same with incremental updates.
Graphics: This game looks like it belongs on the PS3 compared to it's rivals Killzone Shadow Fall and Battlefield. Instead of making a new engine, which costs money and Activision can easily afford, incrememntal updates where done to let you slid and peak around corners.
Gameplay: See above. It's basically the same thing as any other COD. Considering its 6 on 6, some of the maps are excessively big for this low amount of players. This game should be renamed "Camp of Duty". Activision needs to get rid of the rank system so kids can stop caring about their K/D ratio and play for the good of the team. If you like a quick game with a very player friendly aim assist, this game is for you.
I honestly wanted to like this game alot considering Infinity Ward is the better of the studios that make this franchise, however the whole system needs a refresh. Get rid of the killstreaks and this game would be no longer filled with campers every corner.… Expand
Dec 16, 2013I've owned every COD, put in thousands of hours into them. With that being said, with next gen coming and after reading all of the reviews. I had come to the conclusion that I was going to try out battlefield for the first time...but it was because I wanted to be blown visually by my new console and with all the complaining about the old COD engine, the choice was obvious. But Battlefield was broken, and a month and a half latter still is. So I got tired of waiting and bought COD.
Very happy with my decision. First of all, it's important to respect (probably because i'm an older gamer) that activision is a company a they're main goal is to make money. The money is still with old gen, so I can understand them not developing the game for new gen. But still the game looks awesome. The lighting, the color...And it's like the more you play the more you pick up on details...for a game that was ported they did a great job making it work flawlessly on both system (which others couldn't do because BF4 on old gen is horrible) so trying to make everyone happy was nearly impossible and they still succeeded.
The campaign is way more fun than BF4...action is fluid and flows nicely.
What has received the most negative comments is the maps...which i find excellent especially on ground war (18 players). I really hated the three corridor map system on BO2. Basically run in a straight line t'ill you get killed then start over...for kids on ritalin. The maps on Ghots remind a lot of the ones from MW2. Multi leveled...complex that pushes you to be creative and use teamwork. Seriously for all the people complaining against Infinity Ward...Well I say bravo. The gun are well balanced, the shooting is smooth, hit detection is spot on. And from the first moment of play, I literally felt like a was playing a new game. The sliding and peaking at first seems useless, but the more you play the more it makes for incredible WTF moments that you wouldn't want to play without, that can only happen in the fast paste COD environment.
The only thing that I find hard to cope with, is the damn thermal scope being so easy to access and easy to use. People just lay down in bush and shoot people coming throught. But with the complex map system they're easy to get to from other angles.
I Give COD 9/10, because I buy COD to play COD. They delivered a solid COD and I got more than what I expected.
Thank you Infinity Ward for a great game.… Expand
Nov 27, 2013For a week, Ghosts sat on my shelf, taunting me as I was waiting for the launch of the PS4 and finally, I was able to experience the next generation of Call of Duty. I've always been a CoD fan, but Modern Warfare was what captured me. Sadly, I feel like every new addition into the franchise has not come close to the original Modern Warfare but I have to admit, Ghosts is definitely a step in the right direction. The campaign was awesome in my opinion. From fighting through urban cities, thick forests, all the way to space itself, I enjoyed it very much. My only issue was that I never really "connected" with the characters. They never really felt very memorable like Ghost himself, Cpt. Price, or Soap.
The multiplayer though, I felt like received some good additions and upgrades. I personally like the larger maps. Gives the player more options or approaches at attacking the enemy. The new Squad Points system was a change but after you get used to it, it's pretty good. They also changed the Perks system and groups everything into a class so you can decide what kind of player you want to be whether it's full assault or more stealth based. The weapons and customization is about the same as years past, but if you're good at something, why change it?
And with that, I feel like Ghosts was a solid addition into the franchise. With an entertaining campaign and solid multiplayer, it definitely set the foundation for future next generation Call of Duty's with room to improve an weak areas.… Expand

Nov 30, 2013Hilarious reviews from some people. Things like "each year I buy Call of Duty and I really believed this one would be different to all the others" really!?!? I would've given this a solid 8/10 you know what you're gonna get with a COD game and it doesn't disappoint. I gave it a 10 because there are some really tools on this site given a game like this a 0. Behave.
Dec 1, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is te biggest piece of crap, I've seen from CoD. I wish IW would stop copy pasting one game after another. I'm a huge CoD fan, but the game has not been out for a month and I'm allredy bored of the multiplayer, that is full people who camp all game long. The camping is horrible, about 99.99% unrealistic (a guy gets shot 5 times in the chest and he is still alive, and he had no bullet proof vest), also I've played CoD4, WaW, Mw2, Mw3, Bo, and Bo2, amd it feels like they copy pasted many scenes from the past CoDs. The only reason I give it a 4/10 and not a 3/10 is because of Extintion.… Expand
Dec 8, 2013This is ridiculous. Call of Duty Ghosts does not deserve a 2.9 user rating. If anything, the critic reviews are spot on, maybe even a little low. While I haven't play as much as I should to do a review, hopefully I could come back and edit (New to Meta) Anyways, so far I have played a little CP and a little MP. The MP is solid, way more customizations, guns, and things to do! The levels I have played were all fairly decent. No more SMG fest or nothing like Black ops 2. All guns work well in certain situations.. No more I shot him and he didn't die hitmarkers.. No lag so far. Fun all around, and actually playable unlike Bops. The campaign so far is like any COD, but with better graphics and more intense gameplay. This is where I will stop, because I haven't played enough. Anyways, do NOT listen to the BF fans or whatever the heck is going on. Deal with it people, its not Black Ops! Re adjust and go to war! If I can come back and edit this I will. As for now, I will give it a 8. It could either go up or down, depending on my experiences, but not by much.… Expand
Dec 30, 2013Even though i do not like the call of duty franchise, i can't deny that the franchise has had some good titles. Unfortunately this is not one of them. First of all the story just sticks to the old call of duty cliches, but the gameplay in the story mode is even worse, as in it's basically the same gameplay as before, and just looks slightly different.
The game is not varied at all, and once again tries to make a desperate attempt to rape our wallets because the developers are to lazy to make any new games and don't like the idea of a game franchise from years ago getting stale .
The graphics are the same as modern warfare 3 and the ending of the story, while I wont spoil it, is a huge slap in the face. The multiplayer, once again, is a rehash of the last game's multiplayer. The spawning is horrendous, and there are barley any innovations in the multiplayer to make it any different from the last game. The biggest problem is that this is starting to become the normal in games as in just rehashing the last game, or a different games. A very poor "effort".… Expand
Dec 3, 2013I've always loved the Call of Duty series and over the last few years I've appreciated the atypical attention to detail and polish that other 1st person shooter brands sometimes lack. Ghosts is the stark exception.
Even with the new patches, the PC version is buggy and unplayable. Some of the pitfalls include (but certainly not limited to) the fixed and sickening 65 degrees field of view which makes me sick after 5 minutes, poor GPU memory management resulting in often failed texture pop-in which makes the game look like its from the 90s, and stuttering frame rates (even on my Nvidia titan driven machine). It's pretty clear that the PC version just wasn't finished.
Then the campaign storyline... Past call of duty titles have always felt like an entertaining summer blockbuster rather than a cheap airport thrill novel. Where the quality of the moment to moment action lets you overlook the sometimes confusing and convoluted story. This time however, the story is just horrible. I feel like I'm being forced to feel some sort of connection to the doggy companion, but instead any sequence of events involving it just seem like an annoying hindrance.
It's not that I had overly high expectations for Ghosts and I was therefore left disappointed... I came into Ghosts with a fairly open mind and a with little predilection. The reality is that I could never have foreseen that a call of duty game could be so bad.… Expand
Dec 7, 2013I personally felt the campaign took a turn for the better. I really enjoyed the new story and new controls. But after the 6 hour campaign the multiplayer was pretty disappointing. It's different, but for all of the wrong reasons. Like the maps are horrible and have no structure, and it doesn't help that players vote to have some of the most unstructured maps come up every match.
If there are 10 maps, why am I always playing on 1 or 2?… Expand
Dec 7, 2013I have been playing cod since cod4 modern warfare. I was excited to play this game thinking it was going to be another awesome infinity ward game, but it is missing so much. For one the maps are not designed very well at all. There is really no fun in sniping anymore like the older versions. The game is alright if you just want to run around and get killed every two seconds from behind. Infinity Ward could of easily made a map like crossfire where the spawn was perfect and it was literally a sniper shootout. If you haven't seen the layouts for cod4 you need to check them out and compare them. I could go on for days about how they went down hill with this game. Plus no league play come on.… Expand
Dec 17, 2013COD is back with it's latest, but slightly disappointing, instalment Ghosts. While most of the elements are refined, there's only one thing that holds it down...The story. A problem that has cursed COD for years, this time they try and make it more dramatic and emotional, but because of the un memorable characters, it always fails. However, that doesn't mean the campaigns bad, because its a blast! The locals are brilliant, taking you from space to a an apocalyptic Santa Monica. You'll be frightened as buildings collapse around you, amazed as you take part of a firefight in space, and be shocked as you take control of a dog. But this isn't just window dressing each require new tactics to sucsead, rarther than the old school corridor shooters. Next we have extinction, which at first glance seems to be a zombies clone, but its nothing of the sort. If anything it aspires to be like Left 4 Dead. The aliens are quick, agile and brutal, forcing teams to work together. Squads is also fresh, and incorporates team work. And saving the best till last, we come to multiplayer, which is so AMAZING! I've sunk hours into it! This is mainly because of all new modes, my favorate of which is cranked, where if you kill someone, you have 30 seconds to get another kill or you explode! Overall its a brilliant game that I recomened, but doesn't feel next gen.… Expand
May 9, 2014They did a really good job with the game. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer changed things up a bit and made a extremely fast paced, action packed and compelling story. The only problem here is, it is still too similar, we have seen this formula too many times.
There is a nice bit of content, extinction is the freshest feeling thing here and s a nice addition, just a little to much like zombies. In terms of mutiplayer, guns are solid and so it hit detection, there are also some neat throw ins like destructible environments, but this is nothing like that of Battlefield. It simply allows players to get to different places easier or open up and area. There are also not many kill streaks which is a bit of a disappointment. Those there are still cool things like the Dog and the Hunter Killer.
Call of Duty Ghosts may be all too familiar but is still one of the greatest first person shooters out there.… Expand
Dec 20, 2013An enjoyable fast-paced action game with all-too-familiar Call-of-Duty controls. Although the story is fresh and interesting, the game play quickly feels like just another extension of the same franchise, and it is somewhat brief. The graphics seem to not reach their potential for the new generation of consoles, but the fps/animation on the PS4 is SUPER smooth.
Like all Calls of Duty, you will jump right into the action, and once you do, it's a never ending sequence of ducking for cover, peeking out ever-so-carefully, and sending out a barrage of Left Trigger/Right Triggers combos until you can dash forward to another barrier, thereby allowing your party to advance and stop a group of enemies from re-spawning. It is not that this is a bad game design; on the contrary, it's been quite successful. Yet being the 10th installment of the series, one begins to desire a little more innovation besides peaking out from corners and sliding; neither of which proved very useful while completing the game on Veteran. The various environments, vehicles, and weapons keep the game interesting, and the fast pace keeps you from getting too fatigued by the lack of game play innovation; but such a pace comes at the expense of game hours. I'm not an expert FPS gamer, and I was able to complete Veteran in under 10 hours. However, there are many parts of the game in which you just DIE way too quickly after restart, which has been a frustrating aspect of all Calls of Duty; the proverbial 5-minute span of "How the hell do I keep dying within the first 1.5 seconds?"
The achievements/trophies deserve some mention, as unlike many other games all of these are quite manageable. Some are not very easy to achieve at all (and they shouldn't be), but they neither are absurd nor require hours of replay to try to master or achieve.
As is the case with all Calls of Duty, this is not a very difficult game, even on Veteran. All that is required is a general knowledge of where enemies come from; then they can be whittled away through patience, as aiming is not in issue in this series.
The story is very well thought-out. No spoilers will be given, but it must be mentioned that it is a totally separate story line from previous Calls of Duty. One does not need to have played any prior Call of Duty if he wishes to flesh out any background. The alternate reality is based on the present, possibly +10-20 years.
The voice talent in the game is acceptable, but nothing outstanding. Characters offer little drama beyond the standard, to-be-expected military jargon and bravado. It's enjoyable, but there will be no memorable moments from talent of this game.
Pros: Fast-Paced Action, Smooth Frame Rate/Animation, Great Mix of Scenarios, Able to Complete All Achievements
Cons: Brevity, Lack of Innovation, Frequency of Rapid Deaths on Restarts… Expand
Dec 23, 2013i'm going to give this a six because its playable. on its own this game is quite good. there is a single player which isn't un-enjoyable but it lacks oomph. shooting people in different settings for six hours and screaming at it every five minutes was pretty much my experience. although some would say that the campaign is great I think they are trying to do something new with the old recipe and they did, sort of.
the online multiplayer as usual is full of angry 12 year olds and that "one good guy" in the match finished off with lag. the new mechanics are definitely overrated and especially when the b******s send me an email saying I can thank them for adding three new things. the class system is good but to have good multiplayer you need to have good gameplay that holds up under scrutiny. you could kill the online characters with toast. no health I couldn't be bothered with it and the fact that it continuously said I couldn't download the team leader pack because I didn't have the season pass which I did was very annoying.
I didn't even bother with extinction. its just a zombies derivative, I guess if that's your cup of tea that will be fun.
this isn't a bad game it just seems unfinished. if you look at it on its own its very good, interesting and fun and I wont lie I have enjoyed it. but I certainly shouldn't be bored within two weeks of purchase. I expected more from the series and I was let down.… Expand
Dec 25, 2013Okay, this game does not introduce many new features, yet the multiplayer is still playable and does not lag nearly as much as battlefield 4. Same old call of duty again, with new maps but not many new features. Dec 27, 2013I promised myself I'd have a break from the Cod series and switch to Battlefield for a while. But the excitement of getting a PS4 and trying out Ghosts won me over. The single player was enjoyable with a storyline typical of a Hollywood film, although it's very linear.
Extinction is fun and worth some of your time, just think Aliens instead of Zombies and you're there. Squads is good way to learn the maps and weapons.
Multiplayer then! It's very familiar, different weapons, perks and streaks. Nothing out of the norm. I was most excited about dedicated servers as the past couple of Cods have suffered from atrocious Lag and the only time it seemed playable was when 2 people were watching Netflix at home, which essentially reinforced the poor connection bonus (host disadvantage). As it turns out the PS4 gets a hybrid system dedicated server system, which means it's not really dedicated and currently the LAG issues I've witnessed make the experience unenjoyable. Hit detection can be massively off too, I've seen a few killcams where the player is exiting the right of the screen with the hit markets indicating on the left side of the screen! I'm hoping it's all down to the low population of PS4 Ghosts owners and it will work out in the new year.
For me it's been a bit disappointing and I've never recreated the fun I had on COD1 and MW1… Expand
Jan 1, 2014For the PS4 it offers great beauty due to native 1080p for a next gen console. I'm happy to say it was a great change from MW3. Multiplayer offers more game modes to enjoy and is definently more balenced than other COD games. I find my self getting killed by two bullets on every gun though. Squads was good to help gain a bit XP and safeguard is good to. The story is ok but it is way better than BF4 story. Extictinction was good too but needs a buff on guns and slow down the aliens and somehow work on making the players more of a team more.… Expand
Dec 27, 2013Everybody is making this installment of the Call of Duty franchise look bad. Well the game's story is actually probably one of the best out of the newer Call of Duties. The characters give a good meaning to the story aside for Keegan. I actually felt kind of sad at some parts of the story. The sound track was decent not as good as BO2 but still ok. Graphics however are pretty good I would like to see better ones but not bad for a launch title.
Multiplier is a bit broken, the spawns are terrible you will die as you spawn but has of now there is a patch note about fixing the spawns which is good. People don't seem to like how you die so quickly but I personally like it. For the people who don't like dying quickly they added Heavy Duty which is comparable to BO2 multiplier. The maps are a controversy in Ghosts, the are complicated with multiple flank routes so you are never truly safe. The new maps add a new sense of strategy in the game. The game modes are fun Blitz, Cranked, and Search and rescue are fun.
Squads is a nice addition to the game. You can have a squad of fully customized soldiers even to the point you can pick their gender. The AI is definitely the best out of the Call of Duties of course they're some goofy things you can run in to but that is bound to happen in any game.
Extinction is really fun until you realize that you get one map. I know that with DLC you get more but really you couldn't add one more map.
Overall the game is good better than MW3. I encourage you to play the campaign plus if you don't like dying quick play heavy duty.… Expand
Dec 29, 2013This game came out the door hacked. It is the worst game I have ever played for the money. I have witness some off the wall stupid playing before but this game was to have eliminated this type of play with its dedicated servers and its outstanding graphic. I actually witness a kid playing a site (GoDynasty) invisible, another bragging to a friend online about his aimbot. I've paid good money to enjoy the game in its original form. I am also tired of these parents who use the game as a babysitting tool, enough! Why should I pay over $100 to listen to some brat crying about how he can't get the game to work right! Dec 30, 2013Same all over again. CoD games such as MW3 and Ops 2 were great but the game lacks creativity. There is nothing new to this. Nice thing about this game is that there is a lot of game modes to choose from but i was disappointed that there was not stick and stones and one in the chamber as they were great an fun modes. Dec 31, 2013The campaign mode was very good for the 30 minutes that I did play it. The Online mode was good for about 1 day, but after that it seems like the amount of people dragged down the servers... because it became unbearable to play. LAG LAG LAG... Same stuff you've heard before i'm sure... dying from one bullet(on your screen), shooting someone point blank with 6 bullets and they end up killing you when they turn around... Stuff like that. You can adjust yeah... start camping more or less and you might get a few more kills... but who wants to do that? You buy the game to have fun, run around shooting people, getting into gun battles. I stopped playing for about 2 weeks and picked up the sticks again yesterday and the lag was all but gone... but I don't know how long that will last. People probably just stopped playing.… Expand
Dec 31, 2013Was really disappointed by Infinity Ward from MW3.One of the worst games I have ever played. But whatsoever not sure how I feel about CoD Ghosts.I've had it for 12 days but I've been playing Call of Duty for 3 years.I really enjoyed the game the first week but then it was all up and downs.Campers everywhere sitting in the corners,or sniper with thermal scopes.Haven't completed the campaign yet but for now it's just good.Extinction sucks in my opinion.Nothing breathtaking in the whole game
Jan 3, 2014Single player is too short feels like it was very rushed. Multiplayer can be completely unplayable at times on a 50Mbit connection not sure how that's even possible, but it's happening. Oh wait, they lied about the dedicated servers, that's why. There are none on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4. They're only on the Xbox One because Microsoft gave them for basically free. They completely dumped all the ideas Treyarch used in Black Ops II, which is pretty ridiculous, since they were all pretty solid. Oh, and how does this game have more frame rate drops than on the Xbox 360 copy? Is Infinity Ward really that lazy? Just look at the PC port people with dual GTX Titans (you know, Nvidia's most expensive card) are reporting that the game is sluggish. My advice: Don't buy this, you'll be disappointed.… Expand
Jan 7, 2014Look, although highly unrealistic and following a formula that past games have laid the foundations for, this game proves extremely entertaining, (much like a James Bond film does)
I fee the people leaving extremely negative reviews (below 5) seem to have lost the ability to criticise a title without completely writing it off.
Don't expect a groundbreaking title with lots of surprises (nor should you from a sequel to a long running franchise) but if you like first person shooters with solid production value and great multiplayer, Call Of Duty Ghosts is for you.
I bought both COD and battlefield and I can say that although Battlefield has a little more to offer visually (it's not as drastic as many reviews seem to think), both are beautiful games and run buttery smooth on the PS4.
I am rating it 10 to help balance out the negative reviews (I would probably say 8/10 otherwise), extremely entertaining and the multiplayer is lots of fun, one of the better games in the series.… Expand
Jan 11, 2014Quite honestly, garbage. I continue to ask myself why I bother to keep buying cod games as they gradually get worse! But this isn't a gradual drop in quality from the last.....it's a nose dive!! The maps are all the same! And I mean that literally. I haven't even gotten around to single player yet, but if it's a multiplayer game you want, don't buy this!! And the lagging is so bad! So even you like being thrown around the screen whilst shooting someone in the head, just to end up being stabbed from behind by exactly the same opponent then this is a winner. I had a £40 gift voucher so the game only cost me £15 and I can even day that is overpriced!! If I had paid full price, I would still be crying now!!!… Expand
Jan 12, 2014Game is just total **** the worst CoD I have ever played I mean seriously! The maps are too big, 6 vs 6 on current-gen console! battlefield is much better in every way! I mean how could you see one just ONE that is better in Battlefield! This game is just complete garbage... I have said enough.
Jan 13, 2014I've played every Call Of Duty game up to this point and Ghost is not an improvement. If you are a true COD fan, then stick to Black Ops 2 or Modern Warfare 2. Those two games are much funner to play, especially with others. Also, if you have played ANY of the last two Battlefield games you definitely will feel that there are elements of Battlefield copied and used on Ghost. Trust me when I say don't buy this. Go buy the new Klllzone: Shadows Fall!! Much better game.… Expand
Jan 14, 2014Mediocre game overall. The goods: Fun campaign game-play, Extinction mode(really fun, and better than i thought it would be), Killing AI in local play, and great game to play when friends come over! The bads: The campaign story was bland. The multiplayer is really unbalanced and boring. Bad community.

Jan 15, 2014Worst COD title I have ever played. I have been a major player sense COD 4 and this is by far the worst. I have expected them them to just re-release the same game with new maps and A new feature. They instead build a game where the graphics are just as old and terrible as they should be (the same ones sense 2007) but made the maps to big so don't encounter anyone and the kill/death is very inconsistent. Sometimes I die way to slow sometimes I kill quick, it's a mystery when you join a game as to which will happen. Just don't buy the game and go out and get bf4 it is soooo much better and well worth your time.… Expand
Jan 16, 2014HUGE Call of Duty fan… Severely disappointed with this game.
As for the campaign the game play was pretty fun, the sound was incredible, the guns were cool, the story itself was okay, but the voice acting itself was pretty terrible at parts. As for the "next-gen" graphics on the PS4, you can tell it was using a slightly better version of the same engine as all of the other COD games. While the game did look attractive from far away, when walking up close to objects you couldn't really see as much detail in the objects as one could in other PS4 games.
That being said I've never really bought a Call of Duty games just to play the campaign. With over hundreds and hundreds of hours spent playing all of the previous COD games I must say that this ones multiplayer has definitely been my least favorite. The maps are absolutely MASSIVE and even when playing Ground War (higher player game types) I still find myself spending half the game wandering around the map without seeing a single person. The leveling system in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous. They basically took the Black Ops 1 leveling system of earning Currency based on how well you do and then using it to purchase guns and attachments. However, in Call of Duty Ghosts instead of just earning money you earn "Squad Points". Only problems is you earn SO little points each game that it takes a very long time to get one class going and decked out with everything you need; and it is especially difficult at the start when you really don't have anything. One thing I found particularly frustrating when trying new guns is that in order to really get a feel for whether or not I liked a gun I would have to first play 2-4 games or so (based on performance) just to have enough points to buy the gun. Then an additional 6-8 to try out different attachments and things to see if I like it. If at the end of the 10+ games I've played I find that I just don't like the gun I'm simply out of luck and have no way of redeeming those Squad points I've invested into the gun I don't like.
Over the multiplayer plays a lot like any of the other Call of Duty games, looks a lot like the other Call of Duty games, but loses that fast paced grittiness and intensity that has made me love the series.… Expand
Jan 19, 2014I dont know, I have played the old call of duty on PS2 this one is on the PS4 and I love it. I think it is awesome. Now granted I have been out of the gaming arena for some time and now I am back, as far as I can tell this game is up there in my mind as GOLD baby.
Jan 21, 2014Okay Ive been a call of duty fan since day one and Ive loved the series modern warfare series was amazing both story and online. Black OPS 1 and 2 were great online games as well. And then we have ghosts and honestly Im more then a little disappointed with what we got. Campaign was short and boring and the online from launch was plagued with hackers and glitches to this day are still present and the squads system is horrible. While it looks okay I don't class it as a next generation title have played played it on the ps3 and ps4 there is little to no difference in quality. for Infinity Wards sake I hope they take a long hard look at this game and realised they **** up and delivered nothing what they have promised I really hope there is no ghosts 2.....… Expand
Jan 22, 2014Call of Duty: Ghosts is a great shooter. But it's exactly what you'd expect from a Call of Duty game, and that's where I think people start to dislike it. It feels familiar and stretched out, but at the same time it puts little twists on the great franchise. The campaign isn't bad, it's short, but only if you play in one sitting, stretch it out and enjoy it. The only bad thing about the single-player stroy is that Riley, the dog, doesn't play a bigger role. Early on, when news started to come out about Ghosts, it showed an emphasis on Riley, and that's what I want. I didn't much like the over-the-top battles of single player and was happy to find that Infinity Ward added some stealth. I want to play as the two brothers, lost in an unforgiving, post-apocalyptic America. Instead, they tease this and quickly put you in the middle of the action. Multiplayer isn't new, just "different." It's a little tricky to get a handle on the perks menu, but after a couple days of trying the different options, you'll find one you like. The gameplay is fun and for the first time ever, equal. A new player can jump in the action and have as good of a chance of winning as a veteran player. I was never too into multiplayer games, I need a story, but this game is fun and kept me well-entertained for a couple months. Extinction is a great addition as well. It's challenging and fast-paced, unlike the rival, Nazi Zombies. I found that the zombies mode in Treyarch's Call of Duty games got old after the first couple maps. Sure the new maps will seem cool at first, but after a couple days, I found myself playing the same three maps. Extinction is a bold adventure, and it is executed flawlessly. The map does get old, but the first maps always have little problems. With more variety, extinction could become a big side game. People are rough on Ghosts, I don't like most multiplayer games and even I enjoyed this one. If you want something new, don't buy it, but if you want to play the Call of Duty franchise you fell in love with, by all means, buy it. Give it a chance.… Expand
Apr 8, 2014Very addictive game. People say it's bad because they either suck or they hate the Call of Duty series. Some of you guys are just saying that Call of Duty: Ghosts is bad because it is. No, it's not because it's bad, it's actually because Ghosts is a difficult game, even on singleplayer. Rate me bad all you want, do your worst!
Jan 26, 2014This review is for the single player campaign of COD: Ghosts on PS4. I was surprised how much fun the game actually is given the current 3.1 Metacritic User Score. I haven't played a COD game since MW2, so with all the negative reviews for Ghosts, I was expecting completely broken gameplay. The opposite is true. The controls are silky smooth. The levels, while not breaking new ground in design, are coherent and interesting (Clockwork and Atlas Falls are particularly entertaining). The environments and character models are sufficiently "next-gen" (nothing mind-blowing, but certainly not bad). However, the lighting and particle effects really set the PS4 version of Ghosts apart from the PS3 and 360 iterations.
My 2 biggest gripes about Ghosts are the bonkers story and the incessant reuse of elements from previous COD games, including identical motion captures and dialogue lines (how many times in previous CODs have we heard a NPC say, "Enemy in the open!"?). The basic premise of the story feels like it should be in a Fallout game. While I can see a post-apocalyptic setting working in COD, I never got the feeling that the U.S. was on its knees. The Ghosts (and U.S. forces in general) were always well armed and had good tech. However, at least the story was understandable, which is more than I can say for Killzone: Shadow Fall.
Ghosts is not a bad game. The campaign doesn't explore any new territory, and definitely gives you a feeling of deja vu with all the reused dialogue and mo-cap, but this in no way breaks the game. The current negativity surrounding COD is not completely unwarranted--the series needs a breath of fresh air--but it is not broken. It's a solid shooter with solid mechanics. Infinity Ward simply rested on its laurels for Ghosts. But when your laurels are MW and MW2, can you blame them?… Expand
Jan 26, 2014this game is just a shadow of former cods past.
what did i like about the game? nothing.
all the fun has now gone in multiplayer.
activision promised dedicated servers and a brand new game engine.
What we actually got was absolute garbage.
This was a copy and paste cod with some ideas stolen from blops.
I shudder that i wasted 12 hours of my life playing it
Jan 26, 2014God, freaking, awful. I'll take constant server crashes on BF4 instead of this. And I play BF4 on last gen, and played this on my PS4! This is analogous to lemon juice and razor blades in the eyeballs. The campaign was so easy that I could use the knife the whole time and never die,the multiplayer is atrocious(considering that the people who play CoD play it for the multiplayer), and extinction is pointless considering that Zombies from BO2 perfected horde mode. Squads? What, did Survival mode and Kill Confirmed have a drunken one night stand? What the hell happened, Infinity Ward? I can't complain enough. There are currently 572 negative reviews, and consider this one the 573. Oh, and do you know what you did right, Activision? You have finally figured out how to kill off a yearly cash cow. Good job. You have one point.… Expand
Mar 10, 2014Call of Duty: Ghosts isn’t treading any new ground, but the single player campaign is still a memorable one. But with each installment it’s getting harder and harder to get excited about Call of Duty’s multiplayer. Refining the same ideas over and over again is no longer enough, the multiplayer is in dire need of a complete re-design. [Nov 2013]
Jan 3, 2014Call of Duty is a series that is oftentimes criticized for making the same game year after year, which is of course totally true and Ghosts is no exception. It even feels like a step back. The campaign is devoid of anything interesting and even the online part feels uninspired. It’s not a bad game by any means but it’s like its predecessors, only worse.
