Mar 20, 2014It doesn’t stray off the series’ beaten path too much, but there are enhancements in terms of gameplay and some stunning effects put to good use to create the PS4′s most fun and best looking game yet...While the narrative might not have the same impact as previous games, it’s somewhat more of a down-to-earth tale of an ordinary man with extraordinary powers, and that’s an exciting new direction for the series to take.
Mar 20, 2014At times, Infamous Second Son delivers great fun with its combat mechanics, yet a repetitive formula, combined with some hiccups and balancing issues, ultimately can't be ignored. It's an entertaining and visually beautiful piece of software, but it could've been much more.
Apr 8, 2014Second Son looks fantastic and from a technical perspective, it’s a pretty impressive feat especially given that the game is out less than six months from the release of the Playstation 4. Unfortunately the gameplay isn’t up to par with the light show. Like the neon that Delsin channels, it’s all light and no heat.
May 24, 2014With smooth gameplay, beautiful visuals, an interesting story, intelligent AI and a fun world, InFamous Second Son is easily the best game onWith smooth gameplay, beautiful visuals, an interesting story, intelligent AI and a fun world, InFamous Second Son is easily the best game on the PS4.
While the story may not be on par with something like The Last of Us, it's still interesting and fulfilling. The main story clocks in at about 10 hours (not long but not short) or 19 hours for the completionists out there (a very easy platinum trophy). Characters are fun but, sometimes underused. For example in the game there is character named Abigail Walker who is immediately interesting but, she's used for a while and then pretty much forgotten. Moral choices in this game are obviously good or bad and not innovative.
Gameplay is really the best part of this game. Including four different powers and smooth gameplay. The AI is smarter than in any InFamous game. Destructible environments are scattered all over the game's version of Seattle, Washington. Each power set has its own version of a projectile, missile, and precision shot and grenade like weapon, as well as a unique special power. In conclusion this game is too much fun definitely the best gameplay I've experienced in some time.
The visuals in this games are almost too good to be true. When I stepped into Seattle for the first time I stopped playing and took it all in, this game is honestly the best looking PS4 game out now. Beautiful, life-like and colorful city Seattle. Your jaw will literally drop in awe at how this game looks, especially at night and the signature Seattle rain. If this is how games look in the first year of the PS4 and XBOX One then, I can't imagine what'll be like 5 years from now when we're well into the console life cycle.
The in- game Seattle is filled with so much to do. Several side missions like drug bust (where several areas of the city are infested with drug dealers protecting their drugs and you can stop these people from this to earn good karma) to earn bad karma you can partake in harassing the local obnoxious Akurans.
All in all InFamous: Second Son is the best game released by Sony exclusive studio, Sucker Punch. Totally worth a 10/10 in my opinion.… Expand

AndTo me, this and Titanfall have finally kicked next gen off. Is this game perfect? Of course not. Dev's are still fine tuning this engine. And will be for some time. But right here, right now....this game is as spectacular as they get. Silky smooth controls, a solid story and the ability to feel like a god. This game nails all 3. And this game has spades in the style department. If you're not sold by the buzz, give it a rent. I promise you won't regret it.… Expand

May 11, 2014GREAT feel good game. any PS4 owner should give this a playthrough!
This being the second ps4 exclusive (killzone being #1), and arguablyGREAT feel good game. any PS4 owner should give this a playthrough!
This being the second ps4 exclusive (killzone being #1), and arguably the first game some may consider buying the console for, I waited to review this one until I beat the game and had some time to reflect.
I usually feel let down by sandbox adventure games. aside from GTA, which set the precedent that base my opinions off of, most of them sound great in theory and have you daydreaming about the possibilities for awesomeness, and don't really deliver. Infamous actually surpassed my expectations, and really turned out to be a gem.
combat: this is what really shines. the powers are SO MUCH FUN. when you can find a game with combat so good, you go out of your way to look for non-progress related encounters just to experience the gameplay, you know you've got something special. the four different powers are each unique, and feel like their own skillset. i dont see the exact same skills with different colored spell effects, i see four entirely different skill trees, each bringing their own strengths to the table. each tier has its own method of travel, active skills, and passives. they use this as a sell point to the game, and rightfully so, the powers are damn cool.
story: involves your typical stuff; hero, villian, conflict, tragedy. the characters are voiced over nicely and you can connect with some of them, which will help keep you absorbed in the plot. i won't spoil anything, but it's a good time.
graphics: i dont normally list graphics as a bullet point in my reviews, as i would play a 2d side scroller if the game was good, but infamous: second son requires recognition for its beauty. i can confidently tell you, this is the nicest looking game i have ever played. ever. ever ever ever. the game takes place in a scale model of seattle, and the scenery is literally immaculate. coming from ps3 and 360, i was in the mindset of "how much better could it really get?". the first couple of launch games are all ports, and even killzone as nice as it looks, was only marginally better than what we already had. this is that first one that will blow your mind, the one you want to have in the disc tray when showing off your new system. spell effects, character models, and the world in general look superb.
cons: my only complaint is the length of the game. i picked this up the tuesday it released, and beat it on saturday of that week. i made it a point to take my time also. between the gorgeous graphics, the phenomenal gameplay, and the above average story line, i just wish it would have lasted longer. the good news is, our new main character cole left us off with plenty of questions to be answered; i think we will see him again for a sequel.
all in all, great game. whether you are an 8 year old girl or a 75 year old man, you're going to have a good time with this one. if you are debating on grabbing a ps4, go ahead and pick it up, because we have reached the point where next-gen is in in full swing. a legit catalog of titles are now available (including several exclusives- digital download and retail), there are quite a few blockbuster AAA titles on the immediate horizon, and the next-gen only titles have started to release. just make sure that you pick up infamous: second son to go along with your shiny, new console. it's worth buying the system for.

The story is great, the graphics are very impressive, 1080p and a steady 60 frames per second. There were a couple things I did find disappointing though. Compared to Infamous 1 and 2 there are not as many powers at your disposal, only 3 different powers throughout the whole game. Also the game is incredibly short, easily beatable in a day if you play for long periods of time. Overall a good game, but not the best game I have ever played.… Expand
