The sheer immersion of Madden NFL 16's gameplay makes this the best football video game since the series's salad days, and the most improved football experience since NFL Gameday first graced the PS1.
much improved game play and the new draft champions pushes it to a new level , everyone complaining about the gameplay of madden 16 obviously should avoid this game its the same basic setup for 10 plus years now you cant play so dont bother ,,,,
Please ignore the bad reviews. There's just no pleasing some people. I have bought each year's iteration for several years now. This version is BY FAR the best Madden released in years. Those who say it's the same game with legacy issues I would argue didn't really play the game. Draft Champions is a fun and addicting new mode. The new catching dynamics work well. Running seems more responsive in years past. All of the animations look a lot more real than they ever have. The graphics are great but the players still need work. Overall just a blast and I will be getting a lot more mileage out of this version than all others previously.
The intro is poorly conceived, I believe, the loading times are still pretty ridiculous, and there are a few lingering gameplay issues (wacky occurrences can be prevalent) but aside from that, this is the best Madden entry we’ve seen in years.
A solidly-built, good-looking and immensely fun American football experience. Madden is only let down by a few engine gripes and the limitations of the sport it emulates. [Issue#262, p.72]
Madden NFL 16 is much better than previous ones adding tactical optimisations which benefit the game. The same is true of the rendering engine. It finally meets up to the expectations of FIFA in terms of content.
Madden NFL 16 takes another clear step forward this year, featuring some fantastic additions to the passing game and an excellent new mode. After being maligned for so many years, Madden now has a clear sense of momentum that should carry it through the rest of the generation.
Though Madden NFL 16 has some great ideas in the form of new modes or changes to existing systems, it feels less cohesive and finished than the franchise deserves.
this game is absolutely great ever i playing in my life.. i love wr/cb interaction, running ball, gang tackling.. graphic still look amazing.. Draft Champion mode is hell fun to play.. Connected Franchise need patch to fix some bugs including drive goal boost up on players rating like over 100 rating
Always good fun. Sadly rubbing banding very obvious in this game as well. I guess all sports games have it? Be the best QB all through the season to then suddenly throw 5 INT's per game. Really? Especially when the nearest opponent is 30 feet away when your WR is about to make the catch. Overall enjoyable.
Positives
+ Smooth, fun gameplay
+ Skills trainer teaches actual football concepts
+ Draft Champions is a fun little side game, given meaning by providing ultimate team rewards
Negatives
- Only real game play difference seems to be the WR vs DB dynamic which turns competitive games into each team taking turns throwing lobs to their best WR.
- Still too many cheese "money plays" that are impossible to stop regardless of defense called
- Connected franchise continues to lack the spark of other sports games' career modes
- AI logic still missing simple football concepts e.g. Receivers often will be wide open in a zone, but instead of "sitting down" as real WR are taught, they continue to run around the field, leading to poor throws
- Momentum on passes towards the sidelines still carries the receiver out of bounds even if he catches it with five yards of space between him and the sideline
- Same recycled commentary. Wouldn't it be better to hire two actors to get a more natural, varied commentary rather than pay Simms and Nantz for the same tired lines?
Overall
Madden continues to be a fun letdown every year. As the only game in town, there is no pressure to fix issues so if you're a huge fan like me, you're stuck with hoping EA decides to make the obvious fixes every year instead of throwing in another useless mechanic that unbalances the game. I'll buy it every year and enjoy it, but it is frustrating to see seemingly simple problems go unfixed for years at a time.
If you're looking for a realistic football game, then do not play Madden 16. If you've played football on any level you would know that the game is not realistic and not fun. The game is the same thing with minor tweaks every year, and every year the creator of the game says "this one will be better". Well I'm sick of it, madden is ruining what football is and isn't giving other companies (2K) a chance.
EA Sports needs to scrap Madden as whole and restart with a new director and new staff. I feel like the game was created by people that didn't play football and don't know how the sport is. It bugs me that EA Sports can release the same game every year with an updated roster. This game feels empty with no love put into it.
