I would say if you enjoyed the over the top nature of NBA Jam and don’t want to think too hard about your gaming… NBA Playgrounds 2 is a great buy. Whether having friends round or just wanting a casual game to grab and play, there’s a lot of fun to be had here.
NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 adds depth to both the solo and multiplayer modes. Season mode improves the card collecting loop and Playgrounds Championship introduces ranked play for competitive users. The 2v2 basketball gameplay perhaps feels a bit too familiar but it’s refined in welcome ways. Pick-up-and-play arcade basketball is, thankfully, still alive and well.

Awesome fun to play with friends... havn a blast What is wrong with you people who complain about microtrans.
2 things can happen...
● you either use microtrans or
● you **** dont... you morons rate a game low over a **** (optional) extra that you dont even have to do...
Do you morons put fuel in the car to drive somewhere???
If you do thats your **** option to... you dont like fuel transactions... **** walk... your choice...

2-vs-2 arcade basket which is a way better experience that the same found in the first entry of NBA Playgrounds.
NBA 2k is simple, fun and accessible, but there are things, as some players, not in the right place, and in a NBA you won't find these kinds of problems.
NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is starting to show its true potential. Few minor changes in the gameplay and more game modes could transform a good game in the true NBA Jam successor.
With 2K, I hoped that Playgrounds 2 will be the street-ball game that we all waited for. Except for bringing some new players into the game and implementing a customization system with their hated VC points, nothing of my wishes came true.
A lacklustre effort after last year’s promising start. It attempts to address some of the issues but these end up being unforced turnovers that makes the game actively worse. When you couple this with only one of the major gameplay problems being addressed, you find yourself with a disappointing sequel. This is a series that definitely does not need to be on a yearly cycle, and most people who bought the original last year will find they have already had their fill.
I have had more fun playing this game than any other title this year. People complain about microtransactions but two points about that : 1) **** is incredibly fun who cares 2) I have only about 20 hours invested and already unlocked 12 players without using microtransactions. God forbid if you have to invest time to unlock players. You don't have to pay to unlock players, but you do for swag items....something you don't have to have. A best friend played 2 games with me and bought a copy for himself on the way home. Great game.

The control scheme is simple. That's great. Collaborative game mode is good. BUT Empty content.
The game card is expensive to open. Three-way competition mode is bad. There are micro payments in game. AS A RESULT, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is fun with Arcade gameplay mechanics, it is a poor game in terms of content.

Yes, I am warning everyone to avoid this game because they have taken away the ability to unlock all the characters with one cheap pack, now you are forced to unlock every individual player with a significant amount of virtual currency, and forget the grind of slowly trying to unlock everyone some other way. This game is a total rip off now, it was fine back when they had that unlock pack for every character, but now that it is gone this game is a total scam.

Effin' garbage. It is a mediocre game set up behind a super grindy progression system dedicated to micro transactions. I deleted this crap an hour after playing and realizing the main function of this game is... to rip you off!
The trailer looked great. I thought it was going to be like NBA Street Vol 2 or even the NBA Jam remaster. Nope! I should have known better when 2K Games put their name on it. Stupid me. They got my $30 bucks. But not another dime. I stopped buying NBA 2K since '16, when the micro transactions began to be utterly ridiculous, which is a shame because way back when they first started on the Sega Dreamcast, they were the ****
