It is rip-roaring stuff. There is no great illusion here; any risk that may have been associated with Nathan Drake’s introduction a decade ago has long gone, swept away in a tide of crowd-pleasing spectacle. But Uncharted 4’s swagger makes it easy to succumb to the ride, its craftmanship, sense of adventure and willingness to open up to its players providing a potent sugar-rush of popcorn gaming pleasure.

Naughty Dog has crafted a brilliant game that can stand alone as the best game on PlayStation 4. Uncharted was once referred to as a Tomb Raider clone, but it wound up being a Tomb Raider killer. Naughty Dog has elevated the video game industry as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is pure brilliance.

Uncharted 4 is a landmark title that anyone remotely interested in interactive storytelling should invest in. Naughty Dog has once again raised the bar across the industry. Thrilling shootouts, a staggering level of detail, breathtaking visuals and emotional depth come together to make Uncharted 4: A Thief's End a must-play masterpiece.

A Thief End’s is the best Uncharted yet, delivering a story I didn’t want to end, and an adventure that concludes with a hell of a payoff. The “wow” factor of the world exploding under Drake’s feet has diminished in the years following Uncharted 2, but those moments are still effective, and a true showpiece of the developer’s exquisite craftsmanship for world and gameplay design.

Uncharted 4 is like a book that you literally swallow page by page, but at the same time you are sad to see the diminishing count of unread pages. You don´t want it to end, you know what is coming but nothing can be done. Nathan Drake's adventure ends, but it's probably the best final chapter you could wish for.

A performance of power. Naughty Dog realizes their profound technical ability, showcases a relationship between gorgeous locales and engaging level design, and executes a progressive yet agile and animated narrative. The viability of Uncharted's action—safe but nimble platforming and brisk cover-based shooting parallel to limitless coincidences and explosions—can feel out of sync with 2016, but A Thief's End is easily the best it has ever been.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End feels as inevitable as it does unnecessary.

For Nathan Drake's 4th outing, this is by far the most beautiful. Lush green environments, gorgeous landscapes and realistic looking characterFor Nathan Drake's 4th outing, this is by far the most beautiful. Lush green environments, gorgeous landscapes and realistic looking character models: this is probably the best looking game I've ever played on any platform. The environments urge you to explore everything and during cut scenes I forgot I was playing a game as the surrounds and the characters looks life like, as if was actual people not cgi models. Many reviews about other games may have this comment about advancing the boundaries of video visuals but usually they off just enough to make you realise it's a game or enters the uncanny valley where you're at unease, therefore knowing this isn't real. A lot of the time with this game however I saw the characters as plausible actors playing out scenes in live action being filmed in real settings not all cgi and none of it off putting-ly realistic like Until dawn.

The voice acting cast is on top form with Nolan North bringing the same quality and charm he always has as Nate as well as Troy Baker coming into the franchise for the first time nailing it as Drake's brother. The emotion in clearly apparent with mo-cap technology allowing the voice actors to express facial how they're feeling gives the character further depth than ever before.

Nothing much new is brought to the table with Uncharted 4's gun play and parkour aside from the rope, which is perfectly implemented into the traversing of each area, and what I can only describe as a climbing spike, which is nice but seems like an afterthought. The mechanics and physics feel more polished than ever before but no change overall since Uncharted 2.

The story is good but admittedly feels the same to all the others. If you didn't know already, Nathan is now retired from the treasure hunting life and is now trying to settle into a tamer life with his wife, Elena, two years after the events of Uncharted 3. This is when his brother, Sam, shows up on at his office door looking for help and drags back into the treasure hunting scene. Although this entry does poke some plot holes into the previous installments with Nate having a brother, it does provide a satisfying end to Nate's thieving life.

However, is it a perfect game? No. The only gripe is with it is its ps4 exclusivity as it's a game everyone should play but not one to buy a ps4 over unless you've played the other games. It's one for the fans rather than a starting point to jump into the franchise. It's too self contained with its characters so a new comer wouldn't understand most of the relationships to their core unlike series veterans, a part from everyone's with Sam as he's only in this game, which forces the game not to be perfect as you can't jump in this game blind. As a player, you need to have played from drake's fortune to understand the weight behind these characters decisions. Thankfully there's the Nathan Drake collection which remedies this but still means an additional cost to fully appreciate this game.

So, is this gonna be the game of the year? It certainly looks like it: its cinematic storytelling and refined gameplay other 4 games just makes this a wonder on the eyes and a marvel to play, Uncharted 4 is worth getting as a visual experience above all else.

They should have called this Uncharted 4 : The End!

Wow! What a letdown this game is. I mean... what is with the Level 4 movie... over 20 minutes of nothing to do but watch and then play a PS1 game for all of 1 or 2 minutes? Did Naughty Dog simply pick up the trashed scraps from the first 3 off of the cutting room floor and say "Hey... lets make this into a game and because we have a reputable name people will buy it?" So much effort into telling a story... and little to no gameplay... for the first 4 missions... really makes this an attention grabber. I mean... they are still teaching me how to cover and shoot on the 5th level of the game.

I am so disappointed in them for even producing this and they should be ashamed of it as well. A sign of an awesome game is that it grabs you and is exciting and makes you want to rush home to play it... and this game really lacks on both of these points. I have played some really terrible games in my time... but this one really ranks up there with the worst of them. I wouldn't even rent this or pick it up at a garage sale for a dollar... it is simply that terrible. Save yourself the heartache and disappointment... and your money... because this game is simply not worth it!
