By saying this title is awful is pure madness.
If you played the original and you loved it, you'll love this too. But it isn't flawless.
By saying this title is awful is pure madness.
If you played the original and you loved it, you'll love this too. But it isn't flawless. There's one big problem: controls. There's 6 buttons on the console plus two touch screens so WHY the programmers put the jump and shoot in the same button?! This is awful!
A part from this, which is the only flaw of the game, the game still remain a masterpiece. Compare this game with some modern game, you can compare it with Limbo: it's a lot of trial and error with a fantastic gameplay.
If you haven't already played Another World (or Out of this World) you have to remember that you can beat this game in an hour (unless you get stuck in some parts of the game).

It's games like "Another World" that show us how far technology and the games industry has come, and how far we still can go as well. "Out ofIt's games like "Another World" that show us how far technology and the games industry has come, and how far we still can go as well. "Out of this world" was first released in the early 90s on early platforms such as Atari, running at a then-impressive 20 frames per second. With every update and subsequent "Anniversary Edition" little modern-like features were added here and there, yet still, the core of what the game is, remains unchanged from over 20 years ago.

You are Lester, a scientist working on a particle accelerator during a storm (nothing good ever happens while experimenting with those things), doing research into the Big Bang. A strike of lightning causes a reaction with the machine opening a wormhole transporting Lester into another dimension, where he ends up stranded in a strange world.
Our guy comes up through the water and his adventure begins, sounds like the beginning of "Metal Gear Solid", and this game every bit as engaging. As far as platformers go,the control scheme stays simple throughout you can walk, run, jump and crouch. There are also actions which can be performed that are specific to the situation, such as climb or swing from a vine. Early on, you start out with no weapons and most of your interaction with the native enemy creatures involve either jumping over them, running away, or getting killed, after which you only need "continue" and start over from last Checkpoint. Later on you aquire the use of a laser gun as well as an ally, A captured alien called "buddy". There is HUD display on screen to help you, pretty much leaving you to figure out your own way based on your surroundings and the situation. Lester does not accumulate damage, due to the lack of a health bar, so any object or enemy he is struck by is basically an "insta-kill". Everything in this game seems to be optimized to make you pay close attention to what's going on.
As sound & graphics go, the game gives you the option to easily switch back & forth between the original and remastered versions of the game.Giving more control to the player over their individual experience.

    Good: Low Resolution
    Bad: High Value

If you enjoy old school style platformers, then this is the game for you. Nothing beats the classics and "Another World" is no different.

Yes, I know the original is held in high regard, but I never liked it much first time around. Now it looks pathetic, with laughable animations and bland environments. Worse still are the awful controls, with your character slipping and sliding all over the place. Plus, multiple actions (jump, kick, shoot etc) are mapped to one button - unacceptable. Another World is full of instant death traps and enemies you have no way of avoiding first time round, making it a horrible trial and error affair which is constantly beyond unfair. It is a badly designed game that is absolutely no fun to play whatsoever. Just play the infinitely better Flashback - or any other 2D platform adventure game you can find - rather than this awful, obnoxious garbage. Expand
