With the extensive customisation, robust level editor with instant access to the PS3 library, and overall polished track design, it doesn't really matter where the ideas in ModNation came from. It's one of the more complete packages in the Vita launch lineup, and also one of the safest bets in terms of having fun.

Misses the point completely with the anemic multiplayer options. [Apr 2012]

All in all, ModNation Racers: Road Trip just feels unfinished. From the issues with the Vita capable options, to the lack of visual flare, this Road Trip has more hiccups than a Griswold family Vacation, but just like those movies, it may still be fun to visit now and again.

  1. While Road Trip definitely does not deserve a 9 or 10, it still is a great casual kart racing game that will offer alot of fun. The downsides are the lack of an online multiplayer mode, a noticeable visual downgrade from the PS3 version, and the sluggish in-game menus. The frame-rate isn't as bad as everyone says it is- though it's definitely not even close to 60fps. Overall it's fun if you like action and creating stuff. Expand

  2. This game had great potential but is let down by some fundamental things that are missing. There is no online play which for a racer is crazy, especially a community racer such as this. Secondly, the game isn't running at the Vitas native resolution and can look blurry. There can also be framerate issues at times as well. I have still had a lot of fun with this and the editing options works really well with the touch screen. It's not quite pick up and play though due to the long loading times before each race. It's worth a purchase if you see it cheap but don't expect this to be the best racer on the VIta Expand

Just some poor attempt at competing with Mario Kart 7. ModNation Racers: Road Trip has a poor excuse for online capabilities. It's not worth your money. Expand
