You will be frustrated, you will swear more than you have at any point in your life before, but you will have one amazing sense of accomplishment when you complete goals and levels. OlliOlli is one amazing game, it is an instant classic. If you own a Vita, you need to pick this up right away.

The game is in the sweetspot of "simple to control" and "just difficult enough" to keep you playing without tearing your hair out. The Daily Grind and Spots challenges will keep the score-centric crowd happy, and Career mode will have you blistering your thumbs as you try to perfect each level. A masterpiece.

Ultimately, though, it all comes back to the gameplay, and on that front, OlliOlli delivers: it's hard, it's addictive, and it's got tonnes of replay value. If you own a PS Vita, it's most definitely a must-own.

When a game nails the gameplay this cleanly, everything else that OlliOlli gives players is icing on the cake.

OlliOlli has the philosophy of a hardcore game with the looks of a mobile one. Truth is it's complex enough to be very addictive and the kind of game the PS Vita needs.

OlliOlli manages to understand the real nature of skateboarding, translating it into an addictive and devilish 2D game. Don't miss it, if you have a Vita.

Even in writing this review I had to pause numerous times to play OlliOlli for just one more go.

OlliOlli is a lot of fun, whether you're a fan of skateboarding or not.

A great, addictive arcade that those looking for a challenge, and particularly those fond of skateboarding, will love. We think it needs a level editor, but so far there's a lot of content to keep us going.

With a fair learning curve that will ease in all-comers, and RAD mode (every landing must be a perfect one) for the people who want a challenge, this is an absolute must own game.

Elegant, understated and yet with the capacity for wild showboating, OlliOlli is a twitch classic, a startling console debut from a young British indie that manages to bring together the purity and focus of seminal arcade games with the latest asynchronous multiplayer designs.

Olli Olli is an impressive effort that is only hampered by a few bugs. But if you can look past them you'll find one of the best games on the Vita.
  13. Jan 23, 2014

Simple and complex at the same time, OlliOlli comes with a scheme of controls that we must master if we want to unblock more leves and challenges. And a difficulty level high, which it will challenge us to defeat it and make honor to our long-winning title of Gamer . Long, cheap, challenging, tense and funny. What else do we need?

OlliOlli is about a flow; a balance between fun and challenge, in which rhythm and skills are crucial. The game does this in such a convincing manner, that you’ll gladly return for daily grinds, even if it is just to reach that top 100.
  15. Jan 21, 2014

OlliOlli might not be the broadest skateboard experience out there, but in this department, it might be the most refined.
  16. Jan 21, 2014

Despite a few minor technical issues, OlliOlli‘s simple, focused take on skateboarding is smart enough to breathe new life into the waning genre.
  17. Jan 29, 2014

OlliOlli bursts into this year's games as one of the best and at a good price. It offers a bunch of hours of fun, something that is enhanced by a great soundtrack.

This is almost like real skateboarding: You’ll kiss the ground – a lot. But you will stay motivated enough to get up again and keep trying.

Have you missed the days of Tony Hawk? Then this game is for you. It doesn't offer as complex levels and make an attempt to include the culture aspect, but the hunt for points is there. One of the better Playstation Vita titles yet.
  20. Feb 12, 2014

OlliOlli is a fast paced trial of will and skateboard techniques, having you swearing and laughing throughout it’s many challenges, as well as coming back for more each day.
  21. Feb 11, 2014
    80
It successfully mixes elements from its own genre and simple but addictive endless runners.
  22. Feb 10, 2014
    80
OlliOlli is, at its heart, a blissfully simple game. A focus on four wheels and a plank of wood, and not planting your face into tarmac. But for all of its channelled simplicity, it is a markedly clever piece of work, melding the best of trick-based sports games and twitch 2D platforming and executing it with poise.
  23. Feb 10, 2014
    80
It’s a great example of the kind of game that works perfectly on the move, but just couldn’t be achieved on a mobile platform.
  24. Feb 7, 2014

Fun and simple, but not condescending, OlliOlli is a great addition to the PS Vita library of games. Some players will get frustrated by its abrupt learning curve, but once you pass that point the title is very enjoyable.

OlliOlli is a very enjoyable skateboard game. It really shines a different light on the skateboarding genre, while at the same time it brings a lovely memory of the 80's. Beware, it's quite difficult, so not for everyone.
  26. Jan 28, 2014
    80
With a steep learning curve and massive difficulty spikes, OlliOlli takes a while to get its hooks into you. Once it does, you’ll quickly discover an addictive skateboarding game like no other.
  27. Jan 28, 2014
    80
OlliOlli manages to walk a fine line between being legitimately infuriating to insanely rewarding. It's probably not for everyone, but if you've been yearning for a challenging game, with a nostalgic nod to yesteryear, then you can't go wrong with this one.
  28. Jan 27, 2014
    80
It's no Tony Hawk Pro Skater or even SKATE, but as a simple 2D skating game, it's a nice (and highly challenging) effort. You'll be addicted in no time.
  29. Jan 23, 2014
    80
It's a wonderful arcade experience that not only demands both precision and speed, but has the tight controls necessary to make both possible.
  30. Jan 23, 2014
    80
It can look too simple at first, but as soon as you get into its trick system OlliOlli becomes a sweet little game, challenging and rewarding. A perfect fit for Vita.
  31. 80
Anyone who loves runners will adore this since it’s got far more depth than most of that genre’s offerings and makes trick-chaining easy to learn. This is still a very challenging game, but it’s a fair one that is well worth its price tag.
  32. Jan 22, 2014

A very inspiring 2D skate arcade game. Great control scheme, tons of events and challenges, ok graphics and addictive gameplay, especially for hardcore fans.
  33. Jan 21, 2014
    80
A surprise new champion for the PS Vita and a cleverly designed mix of skateboarding and 2D platforming that will appeal to everyone.
  34. Jan 21, 2014
    80
In spite of its minor faults, OlliOlli is fun to play. It eases you along at a very careful pace, doling out chains of more complex gaps and trick requirements as you advance through levels. I suggest you give OlliOlli a chance, because for every ten failed attempts, you'll find one gained success – and, best of all, you'll feel like you earned it.
  35. Jan 21, 2014
    80
OlliOlli achieves exactly what it set out to by providing a stern test of player's reflexes, with a level of playability that will keep them coming back for more punishment. You'll feel the desire to smash your Vita on some of the more taxing courses, but the urge to get back up on that skateboard for yet another attempt will prevent you from going through with it.
  36. 80
OlliOlli is a solid indie game with a healthy amount of unlockables and levels that will test your patience. With tons of levels, tricks, and modes to keep you busy, you'll definitely get your money's worth.
  37. With a stupidly generous variety of modes, challenges and room for player expression, OlliOlli is one of PS Vita’s most fun and alluring games to date.
  38. Jan 21, 2014

Street skating is all about adapting to your surroundings and making a skate spot out of anything that crosses your path. Don't pass this game up or you're going to miss a killer session.
  39. Jan 21, 2014

Pulling off tricks in OlliOlli – each precision twist, rotation and flick of the Vita’s left analogue stick – feels as satisfying for your fingers to negotiate as any fighting game finishing move. So even if you’re terrible at the game, even if you can’t land a single trick or grind, even if your scores barely creep into triple digits, your avatar’s tumbling faceplant will still imprint the outline of a grinning mouth in the pavement.

OlliOlli is another great indie title for the PlayStation Vita. Even if controls are quite hard to master, the slick gameplay and the great soundtrack make this new production from Roll7 a must-have for every Vita owner.

A great goofy take on skateboarding that will hopefully lay the groundwork for a very special follow-up. [Apr 2014, p.68]
  42. Jan 21, 2014
    77
OlliOlli only does one thing, but it does it with style and grace. The trick system, while initially off-putting, strikes a near perfect balance of technique, creativity, and precision without coming off as overwhelming or obtuse.
  43. Jan 27, 2014
    76
OlliOlli is addictive and challenging. While face-plants and missed jumps are common, the accessible gameplay and gentle learning curve will keep players coming back for more.
  44. Feb 6, 2014
    75
For such a small price, Olli Olli is a nice surprise. Pixel art is trendy and the game cashes on this to bring back "try and die" skateboarding gameplay. With 50 levels and 250 challenges, you may stick to your console for longer than expected sessions. It's a pity Olli Olli doesn't include true multiplayer modes.

A fantastic score-based game that can be let down by its controls when aiming for the highest scores. All the same completely absorbing and the perfect PS Vita game.

An enjoyable bed-and-bus time distraction that is perhaps just a sequel away from greatness. [Apr 2014, p.60]

Roll7 has certainly created something engaging, and I can easily see people completely losing themselves in OlliOlli. Personally, though, it fell more into endless runner territory for me. Definitely entertaining, but not something I can sacrifice hours of my life to.

OlliOlli’s certainly not going to kickstart an extreme sports revival, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth your time. This fairly straightforward side-scrolling skateboarding simulation incorporates some sneaky systems that will keep you hooked until you hit the perfect heelflip and five-o, even if the odd oversight in its leaderboards system will leave you pondering the point.
  50. Jan 21, 2014

OlliOlli is a great game, with a brilliant trick system which is clearly well thought out and has had a lot of development time...It’s just ultimately let down by how it feels on the system it’s made for, and the fact that there’s no sense of challenge against your friends, which is arguably the draw of an arcade-y high score challenge game such as this.
  51. Jan 21, 2014
    70
You'll be talking about the online leaderboards in OlliOlli for weeks, and probably grumbling quietly about the imprecise controls while you do it.
  52. Jan 22, 2014
    60
OlliOlli is an addictive skateboard game that will stick you to your PS Vita screen for long hours. Too bad there is not so much content inside, but for this small price, and as long as you like skateboarding games, it's still a good deal.
  53. Jan 21, 2014

A catchy arcade where timing is everything. Retro look, but not much to offer in the long run.
  54. Jan 21, 2014
    60
A fun little game at times, a frustrating little nightmare at others, OlliOlli is a relatively decent, if fairly forgettable, mobile game.
  55. An excellent concept that's half broken. Add [40] points if they ever get around to fixing the crashes. [March 2014, p81]

Now I know why Sony wanted to make this a PS Vita exclusive. The game feels like its made for the Vita. The controls are amazing , the music is superb and the game play will keep you hook up for days. It feels like the good old days of tony hawk 2 pressing buttons like a maniac to pull out combo trick after combo trick. You are going to need a lot of PATIENCE and REFLEXES to truly enjoy this game. But if you own a Vita support the exclusives because we rarely get them. Full Review »

I was never a fan of skateboarding game this game if fantastic yet blood boiling at the same time! Beautifully simple but adds layers of complexity that will keep hard-core gamers interested. Great time killer with a great daily grind feature which brings you a new challenge everyday. Well worth the investment. Full Review »

Quite possibly the best fun I have had in ages, perfect for VITA and nails that 'just one more turn' thing... Couple of small bits that need sorting, but devs are on it - which is really nice to see! OlliOlliOlli - OiOiOi! Full Review »
