A much different Silent Hill game than the norm, which will infuriate some but intrigue others, myself included. Series veteran or not, every Vita owner should at least try the demo.
Don't think of it as another Silent Hill, as Book of Memories is actually a good action game that reminds of the classic Gauntlet.

Actually surprised me! They tried something different and it worked, sure the horror isnt exactly there, but it still has silent hill elements that will provide a fun experience well worth trying out! It may not be for everybody but i really enjoyed myself.

I'll be honest that I kinda cringed at a dungeon crawler silent hill title, but I got the free demo and it kinda won me over with its addictive quality. I mean who doesn't like collecting loot? I got even more interested in it so I picked up the full copy. I must say I am pleased with my purchase. Its kinda like if silent hill and diablo had a kid and add just a splash of castlevania and book of memories is what you will get. Now I have not tried the multiplayer yet but you can get up to 4 people in one party slaying monsters and collecting loot. If you are a PS Vita owner you should definitely pick this up or at the very least download the free demo. Just ignore all the haters and make your own choice about this great title.

It's a pity where the Book of Memories is taking the Silent Hill series: Only quantity, no quality; a lack of gameplay and story; a shift in genres which should have been done with much more caution and love. Silent Hill fans, don't touch this.
Dungeon action with online cooperation doesn't exactly fit into the Silent Hill universe but if you give it a chance it may surprise you. [Christmas 2012]
It mixes solid but underwhelming gameplay with a lackluster presentation. If you just want dungeons to crawl through and couldn't care less about polished menus and engaging stories, great.
A total disappointment, not only for Silent Hill fans but also for Hack'n'Slash lovers.
A bad idea, poorly realised. Not only does this sully the already tarnished name of Silent Hill but it's a tediously poor dungeon crawler in its own right.
This game is what Dungeon Hunter should have been.
This is a real dungeon crawler game, the frame rate is smooth , the music is outstanding, the level design is brilliant, the plot is just ok, but the gameplay is adicting, the multiplayer is even better.
Its a great game that most of PSVita owner should own.

In the realm of both dungeon crawlers and Silent Hill games, Book of Memories isn't particularly incredible on either front. Those who enjoyed Silent Hill Origins for PSP may feel let down by the genre shift in Book of Memories, while those who are able to look past its spin-off status will find a frustrating Diablo-like that often fails to reward or effectively communicate with the player. Still, it competently fills a niche in the Vita library as one of the system's few remaining exclusives. If possible, try the demo first.

I am not going to write this review this as a silent Hill game review, because this is not a silent Hill game it is just a dungeon crawler happen with the name "silent hill" slapped on the title. it was fun to play and it was fun to see a character from silent Hill downpour making an appearance in this game. The graphics aren't terrible and the story is OK I guess but the whole dungeon crawler gameplay gets pretty old real fast. It's sad that this is the last silent Hill game are going to get.

Oh boy, let's go back to 2012, an apparently great year for Silent Hill with 2 different video game releases and a movie. What could go wrong? Well, the movie ****. It really **** a lot and completely ruined Silent Hill 3's story. Ever since no other entry has been added to the Silent Hill series. But back to Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
I was super hyped knowing another Silent Hill was getting released. I had just bought my VITA and was hyped to play some Silent Hill on it. I played this back in the day when it was first released and I gotta say I have very mixed feelings about it and overall did not enjoy it that much. Turning Silent Hill into a dungeon-crawling game could work out if the game managed to be ever so slightly creepy, but it did not. The formula was repetitive and so was the combat. It was more of the same for countless hours. Finding the huge amount of references and monsters of the series was fun and all but that was the most this adventure amounted to. The story was so forgettable that I don't remember a single thing (unlike Silent Hill 2 and 3 that are very fresh in my mind) and the combat was also quite lacking. Artistically it was good and managed to deliver some tense moments and decent co-op action but it just **** as a Silent Hill game even considering it as a spin-off.
It tried to mix Silent Hill's horror with dungeon-crawling mechanics but it did not work out as intended and only helped to bury the series reputation even more.
R.I.P Silent Hill. I hope you come back one day...

How they can call that "silent hill", 4 and only for Akira Yamaoka. Story have nothing interesting, but most sad is gameplay. Am i losing moment when "silent hill" series turn to action game?
