  • Summary: Supremacy MMA brings the brutality of unsanctioned, amateur and unlicensed MMA fighting to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems, favoring fast-and-furious gameplay and underground aesthetics over official branding and television-style presentation. The game raises the bar in the MMA space by bringing an unprecedented level of fast, fluid combat, intuitive controls and true-to-the-sport brutality, telling the story of up-and-coming fighters in their quest for supremacy. This game has a few glimmers of hope, but it needs a proper chassis before this becomes a good car, so to speak.

Supremacy MMA: Unrestricted is a rare example of a handheld release being given some pretty major improvements compared to the console version. The developers clearly took the criticism of the console versions to heart and made an honest effort to improve things. They didn't fix everything, but I do appreciate the improvements to submissions and cage movement. However, it's still a lackluster game overall, but does have some really good ground and pound animation, and some other redeeming features that make it at least worth renting. It's definitely not worth its $40 asking price though.

Unsanctioned, brutal and wholly unrefined in its raw underground presentation, Supremacy MMA: Unrestricted breaks free from the restraints of licensed properties and locks two highly trained human adversaries in a cage, putting their martial art forms to the ultimate test. While not for everyone, those willing to take a few merciless beatings will find some enjoyment here - it's just a shame the online comes off like a stiff kick below the belt.
  4. Though is succeeds in streamlining and simplifying the basic mechanics, it fails in most every other area. [June 2012, p.79]

  1. MMA: Unrestricted is kind of the wrong name since the games major flaw is just how restricted it is. I was dissapionted to see no career mode type or create char. But the game does have some really good points as well, the controls both touch screen and button feel spot on and easy to learn. The moves and animations look awsome and it can feel fairly nice when you get into a good butt kicking flow. Each fighter has a story mode that leads you through a series of prgresivly harder fights more like a street fighter game than an MMA game. For 30 bucks i would only recomend this game to big fans of fighting games, but it does have a vbit more to offer in the way of moves and styles. Also the addition opf the the online play and ranked leaderboards i give this game a 7/10 Expand
