    For just over $30, you get a good four to five hours of gameplay if you take your time, more if you want to collect 100% of each area’s hidden elements. Most of that time is spent with a smile on your face and the realisation that the Vita is severely underutilised.

    There are two problems with Tearaway. The game is too easy and poses no challenge whatsoever and is not as pretty as one would expect (the technical aspect is fine, but the colours lack intensity). Anyway – Tearaway is worth checking out but it’s not a must-have. [01/2014, p.69]

    Best of all, it interprets the hardware's peculiar control options not as a dutiful obligation but rather as leverage for original ideas; there isn't a single part of the machine that feels wasted.     It's not a long game, but for every section of simple platforming there's a moment of pure creative delight that leaves most other games looking stuffy and sterile, locked away behind their joypads and glass, away from your prodding, inquisitive fingers. Tearaway's tactile world may be no more real, but while you're under its spell it certainly doesn't feel that way.

    Tearaway is brilliantly out of step with much of mainstream game development. It’s gentle, distinctly British brand of whimsy and imaginative visual style makes it an experience unlike any other you’ll have this year. The core gameplay isn’t exceptional, but it’s solid enough to let the brilliant puzzles, art, and level designs shine.

    Though Tearaway could have extended its final levels to explore creation and identity, its depth isn't paper-thin, and the originality of its presentation alone is unique enough that Vita owners should consider ripping through the game once... but no more than that, or you might give the game its walking papers.

    It's already an artistic achievement to build such a unique, fabulous world out of paper, but some wizardry of design prowess is required to use this material's physical properties in order to craft such astounding gameplay mechanics, with the PlayStation Vita as the main magical tool. Tearaway ventures even further, since it exploits the bond established between the character and the player through a narrative process, their interactions blurring the lines of virtual reality at the same time. Whether it's made from digital or vegetal matter, paper is still a fundamental medium to express creativity. And that might just be the message sent by Media Molecule with this lovely letter.

    Media Molecule's shift to the third-person has resulted in a mixed bag - the eye-popping visual style and the story's characteristic earnestness are tempered by clumsy platforming and thematic overcomplication. Tearaway is a very good platformer, but greatness is just out of reach.

    Although it’s a very brief adventure that isn’t filled out quite as much as I would have hoped, Tearaway is a must-buy for all PlayStation Vita owners. It shows off the hardware’s many flourishes perfectly, and couples it with a solid foundation to boot.

    The true triumph for Media Molecule is that none of the ‘extra-curricular’ controls or feel forced or unnecessary. On the contrary, each and every one feels natural and works just as you would expect to it should.

    The fact that it's so tempting to spend time creating these paper models is a testament to how appealing and attractive Tearaway is. It's just a shame that one of the Vita's best experiences feels as long as a piece of paper is thick.

    Tearaway really is the game Vita has been crying out for. It feels like a bridge between indie and traditional, super-polished AAA game design, something reinforced by both the length of the story and the price. There’s genuine charm and ingenuity here, and my only real criticism is that I want more of it.

    For the entire duration of my time with Tearaway, I was beaming from ear-to-ear at the magnificence taking place in the palm of my hands. It has taken quite a while, but at long last the Vita has an original IP that it can truly call a killer app.

    Just about every Vita feature is fully utilized and combined they offer a unique and engaging adventure. Unfortunately, the adventure is quite short and the replayablity isn’t there. Once you finish the game and find all the collectibles, the only choices are to start over or move onto the next game.

    Tearaway is a great game that intuitively uses the Vita's capabilities, on paper. The graphical style is very charming, is easy on the eyes and invites to touching the screen and rear pad. It starts of quite slowly though and throws too much of its own principles overboard in the final chapters to be to amazing game the Vita desperately needs.

    Tearaway is a true visual success but also offers some fresh air with its gameplay, in which player interact with the characters. Some moments lack of accuracy, the touch screen isn't always precise and the camera can be unpredictable. But Tearaway is full of new ideas and that makes forget all the rest.

    With Tearaway, Media Molecule is showing us how good they are at the 3D platform genre. Even surpassing their own work in LittleBigPlanet, they offer us an excellent product, thanks to an incredible display of imagination, with some of the most remarkable visuals and gameplay we have seen on PlayStation Vita so far.

    In many ways Tearaway is a charming, fun and unique platform game. The use of Media Molecules world of paper feels fresh and different but also comes with a fair share of frustration. And not in the way of a challenge. In all a solid platformer worth the money.

    Tearaway is in itself a creation of our own imagination. We'll find ourselves in a marvelous world, full of possibilities like creating our own paper-alter-ego or taking our own path to enjoy this bizarre-papercrafted adventure.     You move blocks and jump around only to realize that Tearaway is a fun, but shallow experience. There is no cohesive narrative, no gameplay mechanics development – just a series of almost unrelated events. Tearaway is an equivalent of a children’s book that people read to their kids at night, while the mysterious Message is just an empty ploy to keep you playing for 6-7 hours.

    The price for most original game goes to Tearaway. With some amazing puzzles, fascinating enemies and a pinch of good ol’ platforming, this game is a must-have for the Vita. Only problem are the controls; a bit stiff. But still, it’s a great game.

    Having now spent a good couple of hours in the company of this wonderfully executed lesson in innovation and story telling, from those crazy-talented folks over at Media Molecule, I feel obliged to wade in with some brief impressions for my fellow (and perhaps, future) Vita owners.

    I'm delighted (and more than just a tad relieved) to confirm, that having previously digested reviews from the digital pages of esteemed gaming sites like Destructoid (10/10), Pocket Gamer (also 10), IGN (9.3) and Edge (9), their overwhelmingly positive findings are indeed entirely accurate.

    The first chapter is a little slow to get going, and to a lesser extent, so is the second. However, it is in these early sections that MM holds your hand a little, slowly but surely endowing you with the skills required to negotiate many of the wholly unique underpinnings on which Tearaway's delightfully whimsical world (a world that is inextricably linked to the real one, might I add) is built.

    Furthermore, these skills take full advantage of the Vita's entire suite of input channels (front touchscreen, rear touchpad, gyro, camera's...) making Tearaway a genuinely unique experience. An experience that is genuinely only workable on Sony's otherwise oft-maligned pocket-rocket. With this in mind, as far as I'm concerned, Tearaway is Vita's first bona fide system seller! Yep, that good.

    Like I said, having played Tearaway for just over two hours, these are only my initial impressions, so I'll be sure to pop back in the next day or two to report more. HOWEVER, in the meantime, I really must get back to this frankly wonderful game!
