Both tables in the Iron & Steel Pack, at first glance, fall back on overly generic themes, but Wild West Rampage tells the more interesting story with its genre's tropes, but CastleStorm makes you earn its love.
Storytelling through a pinball table is not easy, fortunately there are developers like Zen Studios that give us stories and messages in this format. The Iron & Steel Pack is full of classic pinball fun with the freedom of the developer that this time is not limited by a license.
If you're new to Zen Pinball 2, then this DLC pack won't be the most appealing, as it is more likely that the Star Wars and Marvel themed tables will be more attractive. But, once you've got all of those, these two tables do add even more value to the package.
While they're certainly a strange pair, I'm glad Zen combined these two tables into a single five-dollar package. While I quite probably would have paid three dollars for CastleStorm, I doubt I ever would have taken a chance on a complete unknown for the same price. Maybe their plan was to convince people to throw a little extra money at a dud by attaching it to something with brand recognition, but in the end, the unknown was the real gem.
SummaryThe Iron & Steel Pack, an exciting new pinball two-pack featuring a table based on the CastleStorm franchise as well as a Western-inspired table dubbed Wild West Rampage.
