"Final Fantasy IV" is an outstanding and epic work that impresses despite its advanced age...Although the visual and audio aspects have aged poorly, "Chrono Trigger" is nevertheless an invaluable offering to its genre.
  2. Sit this collection on the shelf beside Final Fantasy Anthology and you'll happily own some of the best RPGs ever made.
  3. A true blast from the past that earns classic status in this reviewers eyes. Please do yourself a favor and live or relive some of the finest moments in videogame history.

Chrono Trigger alone would get a 10 here for its multiple endings and End Game+. Then you add in FFIV...
  5. Good RPG’s are few and far between and while those addicted to eye-candy might not be as interested in these titles, they are fantastically addictive while maintaining a good plot and well-established battle systems.
  6. Having never played either of these back in the day, I can assure you that both of these games rank among the best RPGs ever made.
  7. It’s a testament to the thought and heart that went behind Chrono Trigger that, despite a new loading problem, the game is still more fun than most of its present-day competition.
  8. The only thing holding it back from being a perfect conversion are the sound effects, which seem muffled and slightly off key. Ignore them and play the game, the new text is so worth it.
  9. Unfortunately, though the two games were visually stupendous in their respective times, they look quite dated by today's standards, and this will probably turn off those looking for a bigger thrill for their gaming dollar.
  10. Nothing on the Legacy of Kain scale, but compared to the SNES carts it’s like a mosquito that won’t leave you alone. [Aug 2001, p.112]
  11. These are both high-quality RPGs that, for the most part, stand the test of time.
  12. The updated version features a brand new dash feature allowing the player to navigate dungeons and towns much more quickly. This is a very welcome addition as in the original game making your way through these areas quickly became tedious.
  13. Quite worthwhile in the absence of anything new from Squaresoft.
  14. I feel Chrono Trigger is the bigger reason for purchasing Final Fantasy Chronicles. It has a huge quest and darn near endless replayability.
  15. There aren't many bonuses to FFII and CT and it's disappointing. No making-of, no pages of artwork - just barebone games. Still, they're two of the best RPGs around.

If FF7 had never been made Chrono Trigger would reign as king, along with it's son Prince Chrono Cross. I loved this game, it had one of the best musical scores of any game out there, it had great characters & a wonderful storyline, I particularly liked Magus. Full Review »
