Even restrained by the PlayStation’s limited horsepower, the player models look reasonably good, and they move incredibly smoothly and with lifelike realism.
  2. So while Madden 2002 isn't reinventing football on the PlayStation, it is really the best you're going to get on the system. Arguably, it can even provide a more enjoyable experience than its big brother on the PS2.
  3. The best asset of Madden 2002 is still its overall sense of providing the complete package for hardcore simulation fans as well as casual armchair quarterbacks or groups of up to eight football-mad NFL fanatics.
  4. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
The best football game of the 32-bit generation. [Oct 2001, p.136]
  5. Hands down the best series on the PlayStation...The Madden series leaves PSOne gamers on a high note as they take the series to the PS2 and X-Box.
  6. The game graphically is not much of a leap from the previous year but is somewhat easier on the eyes, with smoother character rendering and slightly sharper stadium backgrounds.
  7. Solid graphically and in the audio department.
  8. The gameplay is largely untouched if not just a smidgen faster.
  9. Electronic Gaming Monthly
This GameDay beater is so challenging and fun that you shouldn’t feel shame for sticking to PS1 Madden for another year. [Oct 2001, p.156]

Good game but could use a easier way to draft your own team. Casey you're a loser.
