  1. The game offers solid gameplay, and although the playbook could use a few more plays, the game has a great deal of depth that'll keep you playing for a long time to come.

Though this year’s GameDay is extremely fun and playable, Madden gets the nod for better graphics and more authenticity.
  3. This excellent PlayStation effort restores some of the shine to the franchise. [Nov 2001, p.112]
  4. The tightness with which seemingly every limb and every movement (offensive or defensive) of every player on the field can be controlled with the touch of a button has remained remarkably simple over the years.
  5. With obvious devotion to its tried-and-true arcade game play, one thing is for sure -- it's still a lot of fun to play. If you're a fan of the series, you'll find a lot to like about this year's game.
  6. A fitting finale to a second banana series.
  7. Something is wrong with a football title when you spend more time laughing at the instant replays than actually playing the game. [Oct 2001, p.154]
  8. I've had more control when driving a car without a steering wheel. [Oct 2001, p.137]
  9. You'll like this game if you like: grainy, blocky, choppy, ugly football.

I have this game and it's not all that good. I wish I got "Madden 2002."
