  1. Parasite Eve has been one of the only RPGs since Final Fantasy 7 to genuinely deserve any kind of hype, or at least anticipation.

    Parasite Eve will leave you thrilled, chilled, and a little hungry, but it’s well worth the price of admission.
  3. As an RPG there are very few characters in PE, however the lack of characters is more of a feature than a bug since it gives you a closer tie to the few main characters and more of a role in guiding their destiny.
  4. It's a full scale epic that completely engulfs you from the off and squeezes out so many different emotions that after a long stint, you're left wondering whether you really do like it or not. [JPN Import]

  6. While the game isn't terrible, it is a bit of a let down. With all of the sci-fi qualities that could have been implemented, it is a shade disappointing to see that the story didn't go as far as it could have.

Characters are well developed, each haven't their own unique perspective/roles/side stories throughout the 7 day campaign. Boss battles were unique and end game content/new game + offers replayability.

    I really enjoyed the free roam aspects (attack timer) during battle instead of the traditional turn based mechanics. It really brings a breath of fresh air to the genre. All in all, Parasite eve has a 25 hour campaign and the Chrysler building (end game on new game +) that adds well over another 4-7 hours of additional content on first playthroughs. A true joy to play for fans of the genre.

    This is A DEMO. A demo that I would argue and say it's better than the game it went on to be.

Starting with the few negatives, the game is very repetitive. Being a JRPG, it's expected to have a bit of grinding here and there however it is not as bad as some other JRPG titles. Second off, the way that you find chests and such is quite difficult. Doors and chests are blended into the environment so well that it is sometimes hard to tell what is usable and what is not. The camera system was a tad weird and some combat situations were difficult to maneuver. Once you died a couple of times though it becomes much easier. Lastly, the inventory system was a bit hard to manage, and could have had some work done on it.
    Now that that's out of the way, we can focus on the things that made this game amazing. Being a direct sequel to a novel, I feel that the game adapted very well. The few "important" characters were a bit under-developed but with the way that the game gets you tied in emotionally, that hardly becomes a problem. The cinematics were beautiful for being released 4 years after the console's debut, as well as the in-game graphics. They are easily compared to other leading titles. Overall, Square did not dissapoint. Giving the score some numbers, this what I could come up with;
    Visuals: 10
    Controls: 8
    Story: 9
    Difficulty: 8 (10 being most difficult)
    Overall: 8

    Thanks for reading!

ThisLet me first start off by saying im a huge fan of Squaresoft rpgs like FF7, Chrono, Xenogears etc. I like Resident evil and i play D&D. This should be right up my alley. I was dissapointed. What a horrible game. Poor dialoge, poor story. It is so dumbed down it seems like it was made for retarded highschool dropouts. People giving this such a high score must have played it when they were 8yo and give review purely on nostalgia. Expand
