Two bucks. That's all you'll need to grab this PSP Mini, and it is worth every cent.

A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! really is the complete package. For a two dollar PlayStation Mini, A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! offers an experience as fun, lengthy, difficult and worthwhile as some of the premiere standard games on the PlayStation Network.
  3. This is a bargain if you look at what you get. This shooter is long, challenging and has a great sense of humor thanks to cutscenes that remind us of Ratchet & Clank. Mega Man was also an inspiration: you get to use the weapons of every end boss you defeat. [January 2012, p.85]

The eventual carnage you wreak is well worth the effort. Funny writing, too. [Mar 2011, p.91]

For 2 bucks, this game has more to offer than some higher priced competitors. Recommended for retro fans and genre specialists.

The game has great replay value and it is relieving to see the developers not take their selves so seriously in expecting their own game to be more than it is. You are getting what you pay for... a (solid) space shooter for two bucks.

We can whine about how it might not be the best shmup we've ever played, but the best shmup we've ever played probably didn't cost $2, and Commander P. Jefferson's space odyssey is easily worth that to anyone who wants to shoot stuff throughout the universe.

If A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks is any indication of what other games are in the PSP Mini collection, then gamers are in for a treat. It doesn't try to do too much, it's a lot of fun, and it's cheap.

The attractive price is not the only thing that makes this frantic space shooter worth trying out. Looking past the hit or miss humor in the dialogue, the action is absolutely addicting and you will be replaying levels incessantly to build up some space cash to purchase your next upgrade.

Whether you're on the go with your PSP or if you need something to greatly occupy yourself between paychecks, we can be thankful for the fact that the option of killing space cretins is available as an alternative to spending the evening hitting up the drive-thru window.

A Space Shooter for Two Bucks! has a title that says it all. If you're looking for a quick pick-up-and-play shooter that will demand serious effort for a very reasonable price, Frima has your answer.

For a game that's entirely happy to plunder the past and repackage it all with a nod and a wink, this cheery portion of nostalgic blasting is well worth dusting off your neglected PSP for.

Even with its problems, A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks is the true definition of what a Minis game should be: an inexpensive yet worthwhile experience.

Problems notwithstanding, if you're a shmup fan who is waiting for the next big Treasure or Cave release, or just looking to blast some aliens, for $1.99, you could certainly do a lot worse.

    A fairly conventional shooter. [Issue#202, p.96]
