While it's still an extraordinarily deep title on the PSP, the menu and battle systems are still extremely clunky and weakly implemented, and the lack of helpful information will easily start to fray the nerves of even the hardest strategy RPG fan.
  2. The sequel to Generation of Chaos provides more of the same strategic gameplay without doing anything to correct the problems with the original.
  3. Striking a nearly perfect balance between role-playing game goodness and strategy gaming, Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos might not do combat right but it’s still a worthwhile game for PSP gamers.
  4. I love this title’s core idea of using custom-leveled heroes and their squads of minions to conquer the world (or defend it; same difference) in a turn-based framework. Until I can do that without attending to details that I don’t care about through bland menus, though, I’ll be sticking with "Fire Emblem."

Aedis Eclipse: Generations of Chaos shows a lot of potential, but buried so deep that it's just about not worth digging for.

A solid RPG experience that is muddled by some unfortunate pathfinding and UI issues.
  7. I've gone on a fair bit about some of the issues with Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos — difficult to learn controls, some inevitability in the tactics — but overall, it is a surprisingly different and a well-done strategy RPG title.
  8. The downfalls of the game are not enough to really distract from the fun of this title.
  9. With more menus than a Parisian dining district, Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos gets bogged down by its own ambition. And the game’s relative ease only makes its strategic density seem all the more unnecessary.

There might be a competent game hidden somewhere in Aedis Eclipse. But between the byzantine interface, frequent load times, dull battles, and boring story, why bother?
  11. There are other tactical combat games due out this year and they may be better suited to a wider audience, but if you got this far then you probably have a PSP and an itch for a good strategy RPG - and Aedis Eclipse can do a decent job of scratching it.

If you take the time to learn all of the nuances of the game it is truly rewarding for the price and portability Aedis Eclipse delivers; if you can manage to understand what it is trying to deliver that is.
  13. Aedis Eclipse has the shine and sparkle of a great game, and the battle system of a bad one. [June 2007, p.85]
  14. While Aedis Eclipse, the sequel to 2006's tepid "Generation of Chaos", adds quite a bit to the character development aspect, the core problem of the series remains: combat is almost entirely non-interactive. [June 2007, p.84]
  15. If you like strategy games at all, let alone grand strategy variants like Generation of Chaos, then the last thing you want to be playing is a game that simply hands you victory. [May 2007, p.64]
  16. Gamers who want a real challenge in a strategy RPG will find it here. That's good. But part of the challenge is fighting the game itself in order to understand the play mechanics. That's not so good.
  17. While it might seem like this is a better game than the first, it's really just as broken. It's better programmed to be sure, but the insanely deep gameplay is still just as muddled behind clunky menus and brain-dead battles.
  18. Generation of Chaos ends up feeling like chaos, unfocused and under whelming. A little more interface development time and instructional tutorials could have gone a long way. Plus, I wanted to be more hands on combat then a pre controlled fight.
  19. 75
Aedis Eclipse isn't the greatest SRPG you'll ever play, but it is certainly still one of the most complex.
  20. A better storyline and characters actually make Aedis Eclipse more tragic than it is more appealing; the game underlying this improvement is still as problematic, sluggish and poorly designed as the original title.

It was hard to learn and the characters kind of pissed me off (voices mostly). but now that im about to finish one of the world levels im really beginning to enjoy it! the only real problem is the learning curve.
