After Burner: Black Falcon brings arcade fun into to the palm of your greedy little hands with beautiful environments, a likeable, if not eccentrtic, cast of pilots and truly exceptional rail shooter styled game-play. If you love arcade flight games, this is a must own title for the PSP.
It delivers a payload of pick-up-and-play fun, a goofy story and unlockable do-dads without resorting to overbearing plot contrivances or busy work.
Considerably challenging yet very straightforward, the game doesn’t offer enough variety but it still manages to remain fast-paced and action-packed. If you like a good portable flight combat game then this is the game for you.

A fun, challenging and intense recreation of a classic franchise that's good in short bursts.
To appreciate the game's dilemma, look no further than its multiplayer modes, which have so little room for manoeuvre that they needn't have existed at all. [May 2007, p.94]
After Burner may be spiritually true to Sega's seminal 1987 hit, but game design has progressed by leaps and bounds since then. Cleaving so closely to its dusty, outdated forefather hurt more than it helped, I'd say.
