  1. The game is fully featured for tremendous long term value, and the online components put it over the top in terms of true dollar value for your gaming experience.
  2. There’s no doubt about, Madden NFL 06 for the PSP is portable football you can’t afford to be without. Yes we’ve seen Madden on the GBA and most recently on the Nintendo DS but with PS2 connectivity, sharp visuals and solid gameplay this is by far the best handheld version.
  3. Perhaps the most annoying quirk about the visual presentation is the loading which is a bit too frequent.

It has the look, sound and feel of the console versions, and for that I'm grateful. Everything from the online play to the depth here makes this a great addition to PSP libraries everywhere. I just wish things could've been tuned better so that loading was faster.

Put simply, Madden 2006 for PSP is the first real - as in fully featured and legitimate - portable football game. [Dec 2005, p.114]
  6. Game Informer

What surprised me most is just how fast it played. [Nov 2005, p.180]
  7. Overall Madden 06 for the PlayStation Portable is a solid title with everything you’d expect from the mega-hit football franchise including great gameplay, graphics, audio and options, but the game falls short with in-game loading.
  8. 80
Aside from some suspicious analog problems, the game suffers from a horrific plague that hurt previous EA Sports releases: LOADING.
  9. If you're the patient type and can stand sitting through a fair amount of menu loading, you'll find Madden 06 on the PSP to be the best game of handheld football available on the market.
  10. Electronic Gaming Monthly

On the field, 06 mostly nails the Madden feel. [Nov 2005, p.156]
  11. It's just a huge shame that more time wasn’t spent polishing the product up before shipping out because the load times and game bugs hamper what could’ve been a sublime piece of portable football software.

The only time I put Madden down was to play GTA, but now that I finised GTA, back to Madden. As I started the season...I failed to remembered why I never got around to finishing a season. NOW I REMEMBER!!! For the third time in two days and no apparent reason the game made my PSP reboot and on down to wire game, AGGHHH. I am giving away the game....ok, I cant, but I will never play franchise mode again.

I couldnt get through the playoffs either without game shutting down. Other than that it's a typical madden game, 3 or 4 plays is all you really need. Read the defense and then audible. Full Review »
