Second only to "Syphon Filter" in the handheld action stakes, Miami Vice really is a most pleasant surprise. Attractive, enjoyable, with a raft of extras, this is just what a movie license should be. [Issue 144, p.82]

It also seems that I keep doing the same thing over and over every day. Enter this building, hide behind that barrel and shoot that scumbag.
  3. It's certainly not a perfect game, and barely uses the license at all (which is probably a good thing), but for a portable shooter, something the PSP sorely needs, it works beautifully. If only those rough spots weren't so rough.
  4. Rebellion has done well by the Miami Vice name with this sordid blend of guns, boats, and drugs.
  5. There’s not a whole lot to Miami Vice, whether we’re talking about gameplay or appeal. It’s a fun enough game to play through once, but considering its low variety and even shorter length, it’s at best a rent.
  6. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK
What could have been a great game is hurt by a lack of depth and variety, but this is still one of the best PSP shooters out there. [Aug 2006, p.95]
  7. It's hard not to be frustrated by the poor visibility and abrupt, inconclusive ending (we suspect this is a prequel to the movie), but this still manages to emerge as one of the PSP's better shooters.
  8. It’s too short, it can be too easy and there isn’t a great deal of variety in the gameplay.
  9. games(TM)
A highly polished action title with a Co-op mode that should provides hours of gameplay after completion. [Sept 2006, p.117]
  10. Despite our low expectations, Miami Vice is competently made and surprisingly enjoyable. It isn't the most original of games and doesn't really push beyond the pattern established in the first mission, yet it does prove that PSP can 'do' shooting games and deserves some credit for that.
  11. PSM3 Magazine UK
A perfectly OK game, let down by monotony - but with "Syphon Filter" and "Vice City Stories" around, why bother? [Sept 2006, p.82]
  12. The story feels like it’s over before it really has a chance to get going. Most players will finish the game in about 7 hours.
  13. Games Master UK
As far as film tie-ins go, not as bad as "Catwoman," but not as great as "Spider-man." [Sept 2006, p.73]
  14. The reputation system and the underground trade feature had the potential to work exceptionally well with the action gameplay of Miami Vice. But the short play time, confusing AI, and the lack of aim functionality when in motion makes this title only worth renting.
  15. Storyline aside, visually, aurally and atmospherically the game does a much better job and really starts to push the PSP hardware.
  16. Game Informer
Unfortunately these "extras" are the best part of the experience, because the game's odd RE 4-style aiming mechanic(which forces you to be stationary while firing), oddly hyperactive enemies, and wonky character movement ultimately sink what could have been an over-achieving PSP licensed game. [Oct. 2006, p.110]
  17. Miami Vice: The Game does a great job handling the atmosphere and feel of the movie, and the visuals and sound don’t disappoint. Outside of the easy difficulty, and some drab environments, I can’t find much fault with the title, much to my surprise.

Atrocious enemy AI, poor level design, occasional bugs, and short play time hurt what's otherwise a pretty fun little game.
  19. Basing Rep Bonus upon the choice of weapon you decide to use and whether it's the suit or body armour, there's a great sense of 'risk & reward' to the game; it's just a shame the actual action doesn't require you to put that much on the line, with its entirely predictable nature.
  20. It’s violent, it’s breathlessly easy to play, and it’s ever so slightly repetitive.
  21. We're not in movie licence disaster territory here by any means, but things could have been a lot better and definitely should have been a wee bit longer.
  22. Edge Magazine
The charismatic animation and evocative, sunset-hazed setting make up for a lot of the game's shortcomings, and although limited in lasting appeal, Miami Vice is solidly and imaginatively made. [Sept 2006, p.86]
  23. Its control system isn't perfect, but it's workable and makes for a fun game. Everything is over far too quickly though, and the mini-games and the game's relation to the movie have to be questioned.
  24. Miami Vice has drugs, violence, hacking, and cussing, but in the end, it feels like the game is trying to hard to be, well, hard. It is not particularly bad, though definitely not very good.
  25. It might be generous to say Miami Vice: The Game breaks the curse of South Beach cop titles. But it beats Bad Boys: Miami Takedown. Beats it senseless.
  26. PSM Magazine
It's a pretty short game, the story isn't all that engaging, and the story presentation could stand some polish. [Oct 2006, p.86]
  27. The game is short and easy, combined with troublesome controls and bland visuals that don’t do justice to the wonderful material the game is based on.
  28. Miami Vice feels like a budget title. I only hope that these new schools that are offering game developing classes makes use of this game as a "what-not to do" for control development so that someone in this world can get something from this game.
  29. 55
Miami Vice is a slapped together product that fails to deliver the gritty gut-punch promised by the recently released movie.
  30. A pretty mixed bag. The last levels are a real blast, and the final cut-scene a genuine thrill. You're ready for more action at the very moment the game decides there is no more.
  31. 50
The biggest problem with Miami Vice is that it's composed of too many parts, and too few individual parts really do anything well. The closest that the game comes to being rather fun is in the Drug Wars-inspired segments, but they're not enough to carry the game alone.
  32. Yes, it's bland, pick up and play fun that's simple to get into, but if you did ever find yourself picking it up for five minutes you'd probably have already seen all there is to it in that time.
  33. The shoot-'em-up action is well designed, but there's just not enough variety to sustain your interest.
  34. Embraces neither its campy past nor its current hipness, instead delivering a hackneyed third-person action romp saved only by a few neat ideas.
  35. AceGamez
It's just a shame that the single player is so darn repetitive - run, STOP, and gun, the AI is also pretty shabby and the game isn't particularly long either, if you can endure more than two levels without getting bored of the same old mechanics.
  36. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
Other than that, Miami Vice is the most unremarkable eight hours you'll sppend en route to a lousy concclusion this year! [Oct. 2006, p.91]

Brilliant game . The more you play the better it gets .

INTENSE action on every (well made and varying) levels with excellent character mechanics and challenging AI make each mission great fun, also there are bonus items to be found which give you advantages later in the game.

Spend time between missions strategically buying and selling drugs to make cash, decoding 'flash-ram' to unlock special features and upgrading your weapons and outfits.

If you're a fan of action shooters that require some deal of thought and manual accuracy , this game is a must have... forget all the other reviews and just give it a try!
