  • Summary: The Monster Hunter world is always changing and you will need to be ready for anything - but killing and trapping monsters will always be most important part of your duty. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is the biggest game of the series so far, letting you adventure with up to three friends through over 500 hours of gameplay. In MHFU you can battle previously unseen monsters in new environments, not to mention the many new weapons and armor sets available. From devising the strategy to executing the attack, team play with your friends is going to be key to hunting down the ferocious beasts. MHFU rewards considered tactics and well-executed combat sequences so plan and work together and you will prosper. [Capcom] Expand

  1. The graphics are utterly gorgeous, and the soundtrack is a wistful selection of haunting folk music. In a lot of ways, this game conjures up nostalgia for a time that never was; but this matters not. This is a game that single-handedly moves PSPs in Japan. Now we can see why. [Aug 2009, p.76]

One of the most exhaustive, expansive and compelling RPG experiences on the market.
  3. Played as a single-player game or with a hunting party composed of friends, this is Monster Hunter game that gives even the console original a run for its money. Unite doesn’t really change the story introduced in the last Monster Hunter game but there are more missions and extras to make this a much bigger game.
  4. Unite doesn’t offer the kind of transformation at its higher levels that you might expect – the essential purpose is the same throughout: kill monsters, craft new shin pads out of dino-bladders, and swap your pig’s wings for a magician’s hat. Nonetheless, these simple motivations give way to a huge depth of execution which empowers and requires four players.

  1. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is part of the 'Monster Hunter' series where you take on the role of a hunter of one of two Archetypes, Hunter or Gunner. In your quest, you are tasked with both defeating hulking beasts and collecting resources to be used for doing so. Monster Hunter has deep game-play and the weapon you choose greatly effects how things will play out. Each weapon totally changes how the game plays and what you will need to take with you. This game may have a steep learning curve, but as soon as you overcome the difficulty, you will find this game to be both an excellent purchase and a heap of fun. This game is widely based around co-op (See 'Unite' in title) and becomes a lot more fun if you played with 1-3 friends, The solo play is very fun, but the game truly shines in co-op. Expand
  2. sort of hard for a casual gamer to pick up and play. a hardcore gamer shouldn't have any trouble beating it.
the monster quests are a little r
epetitive at times, and you will have to repeat certain quests to get farther in the game. the combat is really action packed and fun, and the monsters are ridiculously challenging sometimes.the feeling you get after killing a hard monster is like nothing in any other game i have played. Expand

This game is really deep yet alot of the time it is unnecisarily boreing. lots of the quests are pointless timewasters. Alot of the quests repeat themselves but other quests are terribly hard. But I do have to give this game credit. It is adicting, looks great and often is pretty fun. I recomend this considering the psp's small amount of good games. For 30 bucks I don't know any other psp game that will kill this much time. Expand

MHFU was a great game at first. But it too quickly becomes extremely repetitive. Most of the creatures you fight are a little too similar and since you can't level up, your only option is to get more powerful equipment which can take tons of grinding the same missions over and over. It's a good play every once in a while with friends but certainly nothing incredible. Expand
