  1. Mytran Wars is a good game for players looking for a solid and funny gameplay instead of real innovations. The game is recommended for turn based strategy game fans, who want something different than ordinary bloody-based titles.
  2. This game will satisfy the wishes of strategy fans, but isn’t able to recruit new folks for the genre. The concept of the game isn’t innovative enough to fascinate.
  3. Mytran Wars is a classic turn based strategy game, maybe too classic: you can't skip sequences nor move different units at once, so the action is slow paced. The graphics are completely 3D, the mechs look good enough but the colors are ugly. A good choice if you like the genre, however.

A rich, deep and insanely customisable world of strategy action awaits those brave enough to take on its steep learning curve and string of battles where a single mistake can lead to defeat. [May 2009, p.131]
  5. No boundaries are pushed, but no crippling mistakes are made. Still, I say we abandon the status quo and further distinguish Western games from their brightly-colored Eastern counterparts. For mechs, I prefer rust to shine, and crude oil to cold fusion.

Mytran Wars offers players a standard strategy experience with plenty of tech trees, multiple mission objects and an interesting premise, but the game suffers from cumbersome mechanics, awkward unit management and an art/writing style that feels like an amateur effort. In other words: buyer beware.
