  1. Shooting has been made a lot easier. That experiment of hitting the circle button twice to shoot is thankfully over. Instead, it's like a normal hoops game where you hold down the button until you get to the peak of your shot, and then let go.
  2. The NBA action is good and there are plenty of other game options to help keep things fresh for a long time to come.
  3. The quick gameplay, stellar animation, improved graphics, better AI and addition of more minigames make it a very compelling package.

It'll be a buzzer-beater between this and "NBA Live '06" to determine PSP hoop honors. NBA '06 does a lot right, and offers a slew of options. There are minor glitches to be found, but nothing we'd term a game killer.
  5. Is it going to challenge for dominance in video game hoops in general? Not a chance; but it is the best example of handheld B-ball released thus far.

An excellent set of unique-mini-games. [Jan 2006, p.99]
  7. Tons of new animations on offense, and some slight improvements with the A.I really help get this series back on track.
  8. A big improvement over the first game, although the more arcade-like AI won’t please the ultra hardcore b-ball purists out there.
  9. 75
Things have improved since the last game, there's no doubt about that. But the glitches I saw here distracted from the overall experiences.
  10. With much improved graphics and shooting, and the inclusion of commentary, this game has made some positive steps forward. However AI issues still manage to stop this game from making even more progress.
  11. Overall, NBA 06 has a lot to offer and plenty of hours of gameplay with the season mode, minigames, online mode and more, but the game just feels incomplete and rushed.
  12. Definitely improved over the launch title, with a number of smoother animations, two new mini-games and simpler gameplay mechanics. However, the sometimes idiotic AI on your team and nonsensical limitations on jukes or cleanly driving to the lane without picking up the ball will make any basketball fan call for a technical foul on this title.
  13. SCEA seeks to bring the fun of the NBA to the PSP, but again misses the mark, with a minimal gaming mode, spotty AI and gaming-style clash.
  14. Good for a few little bursts. [Jan 2006, p.107]
  15. If the gameplay could match the options of the game, NBA 06 would be a contender for the playoffs.
  16. It just needs to get its butt back into training camp to iron out the fundamentals of the game. [Dec 2005, p.190]
  17. 60
What bugs me is this game isn't nearly as deep as the console version. There's no full-blown Story Mode and this is a slight disappointment, as it really could have made this title stand out.
  18. Now that NBA Live's out and on fire, this one's on the trade block. [Holiday 2005, p.100]
  19. Certain aspects of the 06 game have definitely been improved over its forebear. However, the gameplay didn't keep up its end of the bargain, so it's a case of two steps forward and two steps back.

it is something very flawed about a game that has the raptors destroying a all star team by fourty and shaq hitting three pointers

Best basketball game on PSP, solid all around with no glaring flaws.
