  1. PES has its personality and the basic act of playing the game is still enjoyable enough, but this is a series that desperately needs a complete overhaul.
  2. 100
2009 should have been EA's year to finally claim the footballing crown with a solid FIFA game across all systems, but despite the radical changes and improvements to their game, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 still manages to score a winning goal with this new one.
  3. Though the inclusion of new features is something the series has drastically needed, online features lack depth and Become a Legend is spoiled by frustrating A.I. teammates.
  4. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 is a quiet good game in terms of variety and quantity. Although, it lacks in quality, because there are too many situations needing some corrections. It’s all in the right place, we simply have seen it before in that same place.
  5. Not much improvement on last year's game but excellent playing options. [Christmas 2008, p.84]
  6. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 features a couple of new game modes, but things are still largely unchanged in Konami's football franchise.
  7. Overall, I could recognize some regress concerning Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. The handling has become trickier and although Konami bought the licenses for the names of the players and teams, this list does not contain all names or the right ones.
  8. 70
It’s too bad that more wasn’t put into the PSP version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.
  9. A no-frills fan favourite. [Christmas 2008, p.96]
  10. One the series' die-hards only. Everyone else should bite the bullet and accept that for this season at least, FIFA's leagues ahead.
  11. Apart from the Become a Legend mode, the new edition has nothing much to justify the acquisition for owners of previous versions.
  12. PES 2009 on PSP is much the same game as last year in terms of gameplay with the odd improvement where required.
  13. PES 2009 is a better game than PES 2008, on account of the technical issues being ironed out and solid but basic online support, but, disappointingly, it's practically the same game.
  14. A very enjoyable football game which is perfect for the small screen of the PSP.
