I've been playing for about 4 hours. I'd have to say that while graphically the game is pretty good for a psp game. It's not nearly as well thought out as the PS2 game of the same series. The camera feels very glitchy and the gameplay isn't as balanced as R&C:GC or R&C:UYA. The effects were pretty dang good, but I wish they put more thought into the weapons. Most of them were either completely generic or rehashes from the older games. I think High Impact has good potential. Let's see what they do with the next game they put out. Considering that this is their first one, it's not a bad attempt. Especially considering they had to make a game for a series that matched up to the technical and artistic mega powerhouse of Insomniac. Will they be fierce competition, or just live in Insomniac's 20 mile shadow? Only the next game will tell. Expand

This game is awesome! If you loved Ratchet and Clank on the PS2, then you will love this game! It is a return to the earlier brighter and funnier style of Ratchet and Clank (in contrast to the darker Ratchet Deadlocked), and it is a welcome return to form. The controls have been perfectly adapted to the smaller, portable format, without losing a beat. This is the best game to date on the PSP. I can only hope that High Impact Games will get to work on a sequel or follow up on the PS3. Buy this game-- you will not be disappointed! Expand

I'd give this game an 8.5. Graphics, very good. Story, good. A lot of variety to the gameplay. Overall very fun. This game also made me think about how the R&C series could evolve, as I think there's a real huge opportunity for High Impact to move the core franchise (I'm not including Secret Agent Clank) to a new level. Specifically, more puzzles that require two or even three steps, and multiple use of weapons and gadgets, to complete them. (For old time gamers, remember the babel fish.) Real puzzles would be a great addition to the combat and exploration. For example, you could see a grapple point, but it's too far out of reach, so you need to use a tractor beam to pull something between them that you can jump on. Stuff like that. Only better. Push yourself High Impact games. I know you can do it. Expand

I'll give this game a 8.5. This game is pretty good, and the controls are solid. People complaint about the strafe control, but this can be changed in the Controls Menu. Players can control strafe with the analog stick.

I would have given this game an 8/10 but it's got just about the worst controls I've ever experienced. It does NOT live up to the smooth play control of the ratchet series on the ps2. Putting strafe on the digital pad and not letting you configure the buttons yourself was a huge mistake. I get killed mostly because I have to take my thumb off the analog stick just to strafe to get out of the way of bullets. Meh... I hope High Impact gets their act together for the next game. The game has very pretty graphics, but the gameplay is too nauseating to finish the game. Expand

I've played the previous Ratchet and Clank games, and this is a solid entry into the series. The game may not have the most ideal control scheme, but it gets the job done. I personally had more fun playing Ratchet and Clank on the PSP just for the sheer fact that I could take the game with me anywhere I want. With the previous PS2 game you strapped to a chair by a controller with a cord, but not with Size Matters. The game may be much shorter than the others, that is expected on a portable, and it doesn't matter because the game will pack a punch with fans and newcomers alike. Ratchet and Clank: Size matters is a must have for any PSP owner. Expand

This game is pretty good. Graphics are the best I've seen on PSP. Gameplay is similar to the one on PS2 which I loved. But the multiplayer feature is lame. Major lag, takes forever to find a game and if you're lucky, you'll get one kill.

Not as smooth as I would like but it has amazing graphics and is very fun and lighthearted. It's slightly too short and I got bored with the challenge mode. It would have a ten but the camera angles are very frustrating (I would keep dying only because I couldn't see due to camera). Overall very fun and worth the money.

Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters is a good game. One of the best platformer game on the PSP. The single player mode is very fun, just like all the other Ratchet and Clank games' single player modes. The game is good but has some flaws. For starters, it's single player mode is quite short and a skilled player can be able to complete several times in a day and many players may get bored of it after completing, although there is some replay value, such as the skill points, the collectible armor pieces, getting all rare bolts and upgrading every weapon to max. Then there's the multiplayer mode which will get boring quite fast due to the few and somewhat uninteresting game modes. If you expect the multiplayer mode of Size Matters to be as fun as RC3 and 4's multiplayer modes then you will be disappointed. All in all, fun game. Expand

This game is the greatest PSP game yet. Even though this one isn't developed by Insomniac themselves, High Impact manages to make this game indistinguishable from Insomniac's offerings. The graphics are nothing short of amazing on the console, besting even it's PS2 counterparts in some respects. The controls may take some getting used to (after all, this is a whole new system they're developing for, but after 10 minutes, the controls become second nature. The weapons are as insanely genius as ever. If you have a PSP, this game is a must-own title. Expand

I have played R&C since the first one, I have played almost every game and of all of them they are enjoyable games for the most part,,, but this one was a real disappointment, and it just starts to resemble the limitations of the PSP system. The first problem is that some of the weaponry design is poor, an example would be a standard blaster that, when upgraded, turns into duel wield blasters, upgrade it again, and you get 2 double blasters on each hand this gun is also pretty weak in that sense, there is also a gun that shoots a laser beam but it has poor design in the sense of the amount of polygons (detail on the gun model). The second issue is the plot, it's just terrible, it's about microscopic creatures trying to take over the world, and the enemies lack character Dr. nefarious, Captain Quark, (from the first and second game) and hell, Drek even were pretty good enemies, some may say I just praise them because of their comic relief, but if they made a great evil bad guy or a comical bad guy, I would be fine with either, but this villain, Otto, he seems to be half and half and you rarely see him. Overall this is basically ratchet and clank, shrunk to the PSP size, with some flaws thrown in (in my opinion the series hardly had any flaws at this point because each game they made added improvement) Don't have high hopes for AAA brand games being made or ported to the PSP, (Battlefront, Jak, Call of Duty) and MANY MORE. 1. It's refreshing to play a title that is both old school in its gameplay, but new school in its storytelling.
  2. A polished adventure indeed. Not all of its ideas work, but it's an excellent overall effort. [May 2007, p.76]
  3. Not small and not perfectly formed, but packs a wicked punch. Accomplished, but stops short of brilliance. [May 2007, p.60]
