With tongue planted firmly in-cheek, this wacky platformer serves up some insanely original action that's definitely worth checking out.
  2. While its many tweaks send the series in new directions, they're still drenched in the franchise's unmistakable style, and rarely pull you from the fun.
  3. If you're able to deal with the PSP's control limitations, then I can give Secret Agent Clank a completely unqualified recommendation.
  4. It offers a nice variety of gameplay, and the story ties in perfectly with the existing lore. [July 2008, p.95]
  5. Secret Agent Clank brings a variety of fun gameplay to the PSP and it still has the same Ratchet and Clank feel that will keep series fans happy.
  6. Clank might not be as wacky as Dax, but he certainly looks better in a tux and his mastery of the English language as well as an insane arsenal of weapons and gadgets definitely puts him up their with the best of the secret agents.
  7. The controls work better here than in previous games, though the camera angles can still be tricky.
  8. Secret Agent Clank gives the series’ tried and true gameplay a suave undercover twist and keeps the action moving with a wide variety of characters, vehicles, and objectives.
  9. Secret Agent Clank is going to get a bad rap because the changes in gameplay, especially with the lack of it really being stealthy, simply will not be enough to satisfy hardcore Ratchet fans, even if it is supposed to be just a Clank standalone.
  10. While not my favorite Ratchet and Clank game, Secret Agent Clank has some very cool gameplay modes, characters, and gameplay experiences.
  11. Though not as brilliant as previous entries, Secret Agent Clank is varied and offers a good longevity.
  12. An endearing and compelling adventure that throws in a more than enough variety in its campaign and side-missions, Secret Agent Clank is a must have title for PSP owners as much as Chains of Olympus was.

Bad news if you're after something brand new, but great if you're happy with their winning mix of firepower and smart laughs. [Aug 2008, p.102]
  14. If you enjoy varied gameplay, then it doesn't come better executed than Secret Agent Clank, but if you need the focus on a single gaming genre with more variety within a narrower frame, then this may not be the right match for you.
  15. This action game doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but brings an entertaining adventure to the PSP.

Some may find that Secret Agent doesn't quite have the same biting sense of humor as the original games. It definitely holds up in the gameplay department, though, which is more than enough to make this a successful solo outing.
  17. Even though everything sounds like a hodge-podge Ratchet & Clank adventure, I enjoyed the variety and appreciated the less combat-oriented gameplay.
  18. Clank's first outing as a secret agent is a funny and action-packed adventure that you'll want to play more than once.

Not as good as "Size Matters." [Sept 2008, p.82]
  21. Clank's first solo run proves to be a lot of fun with enough action to live up the standard set in Ratchet & Clank's last PSP outing.
  22. Clank is a bit of a 007 wannabe – suave robo-tux and all!

The game stays true to the series and it manages to introduce some new mini-games between levels. There’s probably too much contextual actions going on, that slows down the action. But it’s a decent proposal for the PSP nonetheless. [Aug 2008]
  24. Not your usual Ratchet & Clank game, and although an interesting departure from the 'insane action' formula, it can quickly become an exercise in frustration. It's a good game, but one that will require patience to master.

Get it on PS2 instead to avoid the several bugs, uncomforable controls, rigged unfair boss battles, etc. Its a funny game yea, but this is very bad. This is why ONLY insomniac games should develop this series. Remember what happened to Spyro? It died. This and ratchet and clank size matters proves my point. Full Review »

Sure it relies on quicktime button mashes which can be annoying and Clank is a bit annoying as a protagonist but it's just a fun game for all who are interested. The Bond theme makes for some relatively fun experiences and the challenge is robust. There is no reason to avoid this game if you love Ratchet & Clank Full Review »
