I find it odd that people are complaining about the graphics, I suspect people are losing sight of the fact it is a PSP game, and not a 360 title! I think it is not bad at all for a handheld title. Cool story (and graphical style to the story sequences) and plenty of muliplayer options for those who play online. Way, way better than BFII for PSP.

Finally a good reason to buy a PSP. The game works so well on a portable. I can just pick up and play an instant action game without having to wait for cutscenes or anything. Fun.

If you're a Star Wars fan, this game is great. The sound fx and music give this title an epic feeling. The cut scenes are done innovatively well and provide a great background into the story of the game. There are so many options to choose from in customizing a soldier to your style of play. However, I feel that this game will fall very short for hardcore gamers. Although the multi-player mode extend the replayability of the title and can feel rewarding at times there's definitely something missing. Definitely hindered by control limitations, this is where this game suffers most. Rather than opting for a more precise control scheme that was untilized in SoCom and Syphon Filter, SWB:RS opts for a lock-on aiming control scheme that is not as rewarding. When all you have to do is lock-on your opponent, the amount of skill necessary to pull off a kill is diminished. It's not as rewarding as being to aim for a headshot yourself. Expand

Not that great as I thought it would be; yes it has a campain, but Rebellion did such a poor job with the gameplay it's not even funny. Not the worst game on the PSP, but the Original Battlefront is way better.

This game has better controls than batllfront 2 on the psp you use look on insreading of aiming. At first i thought that the fact that it has lock on that it might take the skill out of it but it really doesnt. Although some time the lock on does have problems it works out fine. The new controls make the gameplay a little different. It runs pretty smoothly with the ocassional problem where there is no sound for like a second while you are playing but it doesnt stop your gameplay. The campaign was a short which is to be expected from a battlefront game. I did like the Galactic conquest though i like it better than the other battlefront games' galactic conquest. You can customize more things than in the other games. I love the fact that you can choose what kind of weapons you can have you can finally have like a rifle and a rocket luancher at the same time. This was a good game well needed for psp owners. Expand

This is a rather impressive game. I got it used for $13 so the expectations were quite low but i was impressed. The campaign is short, but entertaining. The conquest was, to be honest, I couldn't tell you cause I'm hooked with the online battles. I felt that playing through the normal difficulty with the lock on targeting system was a bit easy, but playing it again in elite is much more difficult. To those that say this system takes the skill out of the game, you probably haven't played online. Whats great about online battles is that it doesn't matter how good you are (within reason) it is always challenging. A great pick up and play game, if you have easy wi-fi access. The only downside is the short campaign. Don't give up on this title until you have played online!! Expand

Absolutely awesome! 1 day in and I'm hooked, great gameplay, just need to practice so I don't keep getting anihilated in the wi-fi matches!

Poor graphics and gameplay accentuated by a poor control scheme. Battlefront 2 may have lacked maps, internet and a story but it had charisma, playability and was Star Wars. Rebellion have done their usual job on this and it shows. I'm going back to Battlefront 2 (And I'm not the only one!).

A serious step backwards in graphics and gameplay. The maps are bland, the lock on system aweful, and MP average at best. Space is the only saving grace for a title that could have been a huge hit for PsP. Very dissapointing.

I got this game when I bought the special edition Darth Vader PSP that it was bundled with. I enjoyed it then and recently picked it up again after buying another copy for my younger brother. The game is solid. Everything works just fine, the gameplay is about as simple as you'd expect from a game like this and playing with different loadouts is enough to keep me busy for a while. All in all it is well worth the $5 you can usually find it for. Expand

This game consumed hours of my time. It is so fun to go against enemies from star wars and simply shoot them. Better yet, being a jedi and slicing everybody with a lightsaber!

The game is an absolute mess, where to start? Well for one thing, the cut-scenes and graphics, normally graphics don't matter to me to much but they are just awful, not only that, but the cut scenes are hardly in full motion video,, it's some kind of lazy flashback style cut scene, isn't the point of the PSPs disc drive to be full motion? The campaign can be really frustrating and it is just underwhelming, sometimes when I am given a time limit to do something, or an objective to protect something, I can't do it without trial and error sometimes because i'm either to far away or the friendly unit dies too fast. Now maybe taking this all aside, it's considered a mediocre battlefront on the go, but the real rotten core of this game is the camera, it is atrocious, it always centers to the screen when your're not moving it, which makes it hard to aim because you always gotta jerk the camera around and there is no way to disable this feature. Rebellion studios deserves the golden turd award for this, did you know that the worst metacritic rating on Steam is a Rebellion game? Did you know that most of their games have negative reviews by both critics and regular gamers? This is a middle finger to the fans like my self who adored battlefront 1 and 2, Someone at Lucasarts needs to lose their job, clearly, they and Rebellion have no sense of what the fans want, I will not be buying a new game from either anytime soon. Oh and just for your information, i got this game on its release. Expand

"Star Wars Battlefront:Renegade Squadron" for the Playstation Portible is not about graphics ,but much much more.In fact ,I give this game 5/5 stars given the fact that it provided me with fun missions.I found it odd that other gamers say that this game sucks. But to me,it doesn't. Great Job LucasArts!

The main part is multiplayer. That why the game has been built. And has been biult fantastic. It really delivers. 10 for multiplayer. 5 for singleplayer.

  1. But while multiplayer rocks, the appeal of the campaign and character customization lasts about as long as Darth Maul's screen time. [Nov 2007, p.122]
  2. The mulitplayer is simply outstanding. [Nov 2007, p.83]

Is it perfect? No, not by a long shot, but the blah graphics and love-it or hate-it gameplay are overshadowed by the customization options, extensive online modes and the satisfaction that comes from taking out an AT-AT while on foot.
