The level design is mediocre and the new Nail the Trick feature is no fun at all. Worst of all is the changes to manuals, which is completely unwarranted.
  2. Project 8 is proof that the Tony Hawk series is running out of steam and that’s too bad since there’s some great skating action to be had in this game.
  3. With oceanic depth, honed controls and absorbing missions, this is the epitome of bad, meaning good.
  4. 60
While longtime Tony Hawk fans may be initially turned off by the simplified controls, they'll still likely appreciate the nostalgic feel of the game.
  5. 70
The levels are still vast, the number of available goals is still overwhelming, and the multiplayer portion adds some replayability.
  6. Be warned, though: this is the simplest Tony Hawk to date. We hardcore Hawk-ers are left with little more than finding all the Gaps for a hardcore, extended experience.
  7. There are plenty of options to play the game how you want to, and the objectives give a nice variety.

Project 8 is a breath of fresh air after Tony Hawk's Underground disappeared up its own halfpipe. [Oct 2007, p.112]

Tony Hawk's Project 8 for the PSP isn't as great a game as the console versions. How can it be? It has no real way to resemble the controls without a second analog stick, and the graphics almost feel like an afterthought.
  10. It’s very impressive that Page 44 Studios managed to introduce “nail the trick” and focus mode to the PSP and make it as intuitive as possible.
  11. The graphics are about as good as we'll likely get anytime soon on the PSP, and a pretty nice set of songs and the full range of levels are here.

Do yourself a favor and just buy Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix for PSP, it is way better and it is only $20.

This game sucked! I want it to go back to the way it was!
