Oxenfree is well written, immaculately acted, and superbly paced. And the most important thing is a conversation system that brings to life lived-in characters actually talking to each other instead of struggling to emerge from a turn-based dialogue game. Oxenfree is the Robert Altman of videogames.
The game isn’t particularly long, and doesn’t offer too much of a challenge, but it has fantastic characters, stunning design and characters that are unique and interesting.
Really cool story, I like the artstyle characters and all, the story was confusing for me but most stories are
only two things that I didn't like are:
that the game is locked at 60 FPS on pc, I would prefer to have the option to run the game at my monitors refreshrate
and the other thing is sometimes the character the character you control does not go in the direction that you want like for example you hold left and the character climbs up.
But overall I love the game and will replay it again in the future.
I'm an Indie boy playing Indie games, really good game absolutely adore the dialogue and also love how you can interrupt people and if you maybe don't choose a response in time people will just naturally go forward with the conversation, the plot was good as well
Oxenfree is a wonderful narrative and explorative experience that succeeds in innovating the way in which dialogues are incorporated in videogames. It’s a big feat, that together with the interesting story and the stellar audio production values is well worth the price.
Oxenfree creates suspense and tension as the player experiences numerous unexpected events. This is Oxenfree’s greatest strength. The slightly questionable dialogue mechanics and relatively short story are generally the only downsides here, but otherwise, you really might want to consider being part of this adventure, because you never know what might happen.
Like a good roller coaster, Oxenfree starts with nervous laughter, escalating to an event that leaves the character white-knuckled and wishing they had stayed home.
A short visual novel in an island full of mysteries. I liked the plot and the characters. As any other visual novel it is very simple mechanic-wise. It's more about tagging along and killing some time, relaxing a bit. I'd recommend it for that.
I do not get what the praise is about. The gimmick that people talk and you can walk way? that gets old after 2 mins. Characters are rather shallow and story is just passable. Art style is not that special. I would say it is mediocre, but ultimately I did not like it.
SummaryOxenfree is a supernatural thriller about a gaggle of friends who inadvertently open a ghostly rift. You assume the role of Alex, and you’ve just brought your new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight island party gone horribly wrong.
