The best entry to the best platforming series is so ridiculously huge it’s like a theme park made of theme parks. It’s a wonderful tribute to Super Mario 64, but it’s not a lazy homage. Super Mario Odyssey draws inspiration from the superb classic to top it and everything that came after it. [13/2017, p.38]
The wait is over; the pinnacle of 3D adventures has arrived in the form of Super Mario Odyssey. It beggars belief just how much Nintendo has packed into this latest outing, without compromising the core Mario goodness of the past. Just as with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Mario series has now reached a special new level of greatness that will be hard to surpass in the future. The Nintendo Switch is fast becoming the hottest platform, crammed full of sublime quality gaming experiences like this fantastic new escapade.
Super Mario Odyssey is a jewel that shines with perfect controls, fresh possibilities and gameplay variety. An experience filled with surprises and challenges to explore everywhere. All kinds of players will remember Oddyssey as one of the best entries in the series for generations to come.
An immersive gaming experience that will have you travelling through a plethora of kingdoms, with many secrets to discover and many opportunities to experience the unique features of the console. A game that is sure to make Miyamoto-san proud of the newer teams working on the Super Mario Universe.
Super Mario Odyssey is a lovely experience from beginning to end. The sheer scope of the game can be a little overwhelming and there are some bumps you’ll encounter in your journey. If you’re searching for a solid experience on the Nintendo Switch beside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you should definitely take this odyssey with Mario.
Though a really neat game, Super Mario Odyssey is an utterly underwhelming adventure for every long-term Super Mario fan in existence. Unless Cappy brainwashed you. In that case, you are a satisfied zombie customer now. No, seriously, only a zombie would find a healthy challenge in this pleasant but disappointingly easy Super Mario Walk-in-the-park. Sorry - Odyssey.
If Super Mario Bros. was a birth, Mario 64 a feat of power, and Mario Galaxy a grand event, then this game can only be summarized by a word that doesn't even exist in the English dictionary. This game is immaculate, and one of the few games I consider should be publicly protected; it's fine if YOU have specific problems with it, (heck, even I do; the hint art sections ****), but saying it's a bad game is a downright sin and should be a genuine warning to others that you are not a good person. One great part is the pacing; it blends the simplicity of 64 and the dialogue heaviness of Sunshine, except that the dialogue can be skipped, so everyone wins in this situation. One other part I love about this game is the nostalgia ripped from other entries and eras in the series, and not just coming from the original SMB1. I thought "there's no way they're going to make MY eyes water up. I grew up with the Wii and 3DS, they don't let people feel nostalgic for those eras..."
Wrong. They are past the era of only using 8-bit Mario as a nostalgia drug; they're using Mario 64DS, Mario 3D Land, and even some "forbidden" games and consoles like Mario Artist and the Satellaview. They're even acknowledging that Donkey Kong was Mario's first appearance, not SMB. They didn't just want the 40 year olds to be happy; they wanted both people who were (relatively) new to the series and the VERY old fans to feel attached to this game. And you know what? Seeing 3DS-era salutations makes me feel happy; I miss 2013, back when I was a kid. Lastly, the game itself is, put subtly, "if the word "f***" had positive connotations." So many challenges, every corner of the maps are used, and the worlds themselves are so grandly designed; instead of the usual "introduce a gimmick and use that gimmick for the whole stage" trope, it's more so "bam, here's an idea, use it for a bit, bam, another idea, bam, fuse those 2 ideas together, bam, yet another idea". It never feels like a certain gimmick gets stale; every portion feels long enough to experiment with an idea, yet short enough as to not let that idea become tiring (a problem I had with NSMBU). This game being compared to just an amusement park is a disgrace to this game; this is a festival, and anyone who hasn't played it yet should go and treat themselves with this game.
This game is definitely one of the best Mario games ever made. I have a lot of good memories playing this game and the first playthrough is always incredible. Its replay factor isn't really there unless there's a challenge you're following.
The game "Super Mario Odyssey" was surprisingly horrible. To be completely straightforward in my opinion Game-play loop was stale, the worlds were nowhere close to unique in my opinion, and the story lacked depth.
visualmente é impecável, ele mostra que o Nintendo switch é capaz de rodar muita coisa, porém a gameplay é extremamente sem graça e o level design deixa a desejar
