(tl;dr) This game gets a 9 out of 10. It would have been a perfect port if they hadn't left out the animated scoreboard display after a game over.

It's about time Capcom started bringing their arcade classics to the home console, and there is no better choice than Wii U for both local and online co-op play. Dungeons and Dragons is one of the few arcade games that's challenging, but

It's about time Capcom started bringing their arcade classics to the home console, and there is no better choice than Wii U for both local and online co-op play. Dungeons and Dragons is one of the few arcade games that's challenging, but possible to beat on one credit (provided you've spent enough credits on previous runs to get used to the game, then to practice up and figure out what combination of class and equippable treasures works best for you). Speaking of which, the characters and the combinations of items they can equip give this game terrific replay value.

They've included some optional extras that'll change up how you play. For example, you could have the game count down to a game over if you aren't progressing fast enough, or you could have your health tie into your money values, so you have to keep collecting money to stay alive, rendering healing spells and potions useless. For the most part, I like to play using factory settings and try to win on 1-credit, although I won't stop anyone who drops in for multiplayer, from using more.

This is one of the best implementation of Drop-in-Drop-out local multiplayer, and the addition of online multiplayer makes it one of the best online games for the Wii U right now. It's a standard old school beat'em-ups with a basic choice system so you can choose which area you'll go to next. Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara remains a valid option for fans of the genre.

Chronicles of Mystara isn’t anything revolutionary. More than anything else, it represents the final evolution of a dying arcade genre from the era directly before that genre ceased to be relevant.
