Jan 9, 201377Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is not perfect, but it's a great sign for the Wii U as a core gamer's platform.
-
Feb 9, 201360Razor’s Edge delivers more content and more gore compared to the original, but nonetheless the fearless Ryu Hayabusa is still miles away from his former self.
-
Feb 20, 201370There’s still the occasionally spastic camera to deal with – as if even the game itself can’t keep up with what’s going on – and the feeling that something bad-ass is happening with all those button presses without really knowing what, so if you want nuance, just keep looking.
-
Nov 23, 201270At the end of the day if you are a fan of the Ninja Gaiden franchise and were let down with Ninja Gaiden 3 on Xbox 360 or PS3, give Team Ninja another chance, especially if you are looking for a fairly enjoyable action oriented launch title for your new Wii U.
-
Dec 3, 201276Perhaps the biggest perk to the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3 is the addition of Dead or Alive's Ayane. In the last few NG titles, Ayane made a couple of cameo appearances, but on the Wii U, players can take control of the Dead or Alive mistress in her very own mini-campaign.
-
Nov 13, 201255Nothing this Wii U release does can improve upon the core gameplay, which remains as dry, disaffected, and banausic as ever before. Razor's Edge gives us more, but when the original serving exceeded that which the player could stomach, "more" isn't a very tasty prospect.
-
Nov 25, 201266Razor's Edge doesn't fix all of Ninja Gaiden 3's problems, but it does make some significant improvements.
-
Jan 11, 201360It's a more clued-up committee that's in charge for Razor's Edge, for sure, but for a series that once felt like a singular, twisted and brilliant vision it's still a depressing turn. This is a better game than Ninja Gaiden 3, and one that does commendable things in atoning for Team Ninja's past sins - but sadly it's far from a brilliant one.
-
Jan 9, 201370Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is a clear step ahead of the mediocre Ninja Gaiden 3. Team Ninja tried his best to improve the original game and the final result is pretty good. Not awesome, but still good enough.
-
Jan 16, 201360Razor's Edge has its moments, but they are so few and always the same way that never impresses and exceeds the level of mere satisfaction.
-
Jan 13, 201370Razor's Edge is a better game than the original Ninja Gaiden 3 and a worthy option for Wii U users.
-
Jan 26, 201360This is almost a whole other game than the previous Ninja Gaiden 3, in a good way. The fighting, variation and difficulty level have all improved a lot, but some of the old flaws like boring level design and dull story are still there. Razor's Edge sure is worth playing if you like Ninja Gaiden, but keep in mind that it's still the weakest link in the series.
-
Feb 19, 201378Razor's Edge is not the old Ninja Gaiden 3. With revamped gameplay mechanics, a new character and a set of new weapons, this iteration is how the original game had to be.
-
Nov 26, 201280In short, if you're looking for a hardcore Ninja Gaiden experience from Ninja Gaiden 3, complete with ridiculous bloodletting and a very challenging difficulty, this Wii U version is your game. However, the inconsistent difficulty and poor camera hamper the experience, somewhat.
-
Jan 11, 201370The most definitive version of Ninja Gaiden 3, complete with DLCs and limb severing.
-
Jan 11, 201370The best version of the game, but it still has flaws.
-
Feb 9, 201375A welcome injection of brutality, but Ryu still isn't on top of his game. [March 2013, p.86]
-
Nov 19, 201260Razor's Edge makes a myriad of fractional improvements that address many of the main complaints leveled against the original release. It's a welcome gesture, and one that makes for an improved action game--yet a hundred small fixes are no substitute for a game built from the ground up to be a challenging, fluid, and fulfilling action extravaganza.
-
Nov 13, 201250Ninja Gaiden: Razor's Edge still remains the weakest title in the Ninja Gaiden trilogy, but additions like the Ayane missions and balancing tweaks make the game a decent, gloriously gory action title...The weak story, repeat enemies, and frame-rate issues still hold the bloody title back from the greatness of its prestigious pedigree.
-
Feb 18, 201380Unfortunately the camera is still poor, however Team Ninja solved some of the problems of Ninja Gaiden 3 (PS3/Xbox360). The touchscreen is not really integrated, but the game is challenging with fast action fights and a lot of virtual blood. If you like that, then Ninja Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is your game.
-
Nov 13, 201276It's far from perfect and best viewed with "launch goggles" on, but Razor's Edge's unflinching action and unabashed violence is a great sign for the Wii U as a core gamer's platform.
-
Feb 11, 201355If you really want to give Ninja Gaiden 3 a shot, Razor's Edge is surely the way to go. Yet, despite the undeniable improvements, we're still dealing with a mediocre action game and a chapter of a (once) glorious series we really hope to forget as soon as possible. Itagaki, we desperately miss you.
-
Jan 14, 201375Ninja Gaiden 3 is a guilty pleasure. A incredible and sensational mix of wondrous katana fighting, flying limbs and exaggerated finishing moves are waiting for you. Fans of the series will find the game a tad disappointing due to the worthless story and the - in comparison to the other games in the series - way too easy fights. If all you're looking for is a good, but not too deep fighting mechanism then Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge will satisfy your needs.
-
Nov 21, 201280A standout effort as Wii U launch titles go, but it's also a welcome improvement to a game that sorely needed a kick. Team Ninja heard the complaints about Ninja Gaiden 3 and came back with an exceptional revision in Razor's Edge, one that lives up to the high standards set by other games in the series, reinvigorating its combat with fresh variety and a real challenge.
-
Feb 13, 201370Despite the inconsistent difficulty and the terrible camera, it’s still a vastly superior game to the original release – by a long, long way. It’s infinitely more fun to play, looks and runs better and features buckets upon buckets more blood and gore.
-
Mar 12, 201360Even with a few improvements such as additional weapons and more challenging enemies, the Wii U edition of Ninja Gaiden 3 still falls short. Questionable level design, a confusing storyline and strangely balanced difficulty levels are all examples of things that is wrong with this game. With that said, it's better than the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions and can be pretty fun at times.
-
Jan 2, 201375This version of Ninja Gaiden 3 is the best. It's complete thanks to new modes, Ayane special missions, the free DLC with Kasumi, more violence and, of course, off-TV option and touch assists.
-
Jan 9, 201370Team Ninja has done everything to please fans short of making a brand new game, but despite its successes this too often feels like an awkward compromise.
-
Jan 14, 201375Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is a much better effort if you look back to last year PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game. Still, Team Ninja ha a long way to go to get this saga back on track to glory.
-
Nov 30, 201270Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge plays great, with fast, fluid combat that's gruesome and satisfying. Still, you'll often wish there was a little more to it than just fighting waves of enemies in predetermined spots, and even with the campaign a little over five hours long (excluding cutscenes) it starts to feel a bit tired towards the end. That certainly shouldn't put you off it, though, as the game is still a worthwhile purchase and a great example of Nintendo's willingness to shirk their "kiddy" perception.
