  1. You'll struggle to find a tactical eShop game that offers more bang for your buck. [Aug 2014, p.76]

It’s as fun as it was when it bowed in 2009, and remains a fresh, unique take on real-time strategy games.

With its touch-control scheme, the Wii U seems like the perfect place for the game, except for the lack of online mode and extra DLC.

It is relatively accessible for a strategy game, too, making it even easier to jump into the game.

Swords & Soldiers HD is surprisingly fun, and I’m glad I played it.

Five years on, Swords & Soldiers is still an excellent title. It's quite simple compared to most RTS games, but it has just enough depth to make it a highly entertaining experience, especially when it gets ported correctly as it has been in this case.

The game has never looked this good, but Swords & Soldiers HD lacks some features of the previous versions and, more than that, it's really beginning to show its age.

It's a fun strategy game which you play with the GamePad. There are different campaigns to play and it's really addictive because of all the things you have to handle at the same time: money, soldiers, mana and so on.

While not offering more than sharper and beautiful visuals, Swords & Soldiers formula is quite attractive, especially for those who are not particular fans of strategy games with isometric view.

Swords & Soldiers requires no introduction, this real-time strategy title is now reaching the Wii U and brings along some very appreciated GamePad controls. Sadly, the absence of an online multiplayer mode is unexplainable and a rather dull rhythm settles in after playing for longer time periods, making this an acceptable but far from essential title.

Swords & Soldiers is one of those games that does exactly what it sets out to do and nothing more. The type of game that you can't be disappointed in, but at the same time doesn't give that little bit extra. This game is essentially a stripped-down CastleStorm, which is justified by its very low price tag. Some of the challenges are quite hard, and the different modes give it a little more replay-ability, which is nice. The dialogue is quite humorous, too. Ultimately, Swords & Soldiers is a great cheap title to pick up if you're bored, especially if you're a fan of the tower-defense genre. Full Review »
