  1. But, if the only console you happen to own is a Wii then you owe it to yourself to check out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Reflex. Sure the graphics can’t compare to the other versions, but somehow the developers have managed to squeeze everything else that was good into this Reflex edition.

Think of it like this: the Wii-mote has already proven it can be a good FPS controller, so what's wrong in bringing a good FPS to Wii? Modern Warfare is still an excellent game, even when it's done "good enough" on weaker technology, and like it or not, Reflex fills a niche. Maybe there's a family that only owns a Wii, but with a dad who might enjoy something a little rougher than Mario Kart.
  3. Treyarch have built on last year’s success and really worked hard to ensure that Wii gamers are not left out when it comes to great shooters.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition may be a mouthful to say, but it's one of the most well made and truly great games on the Wii.
  5. With a strong campaign and a rock-solid multiplayer that will keep you playing well into the new year, Reflex shames its competition and delivers a great FPS package. Developers, take note: this is how you do a Wii port.
  6. It’s been two years since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare dropped onto the PS3 and Xbox 360, making the Wii entry very late to the game. But Treyarch, the developer of the solid Call of Duty: World at War, has made it worth the wait. [Holiday 2009, p.85]
  7. Reflex is Modern Warfare at its best. It's very much the same version that we saw on PS3 and XBox 360 two years ago, but set to be played with the nunchuk and the wiimote controllers. It's graphically amazing, with an outstanding sound and the same story that we enjoyed on the original version. It's a good option to expend your money if you're looking forward to buy the best FPS of this console.
  8. Modern Warfare Reflex is a great adaptation and a really good game. It's true there is a difference between the visuals in this game and the original, but its gameplay remains the experience which have made so many players enjoy.
  9. Despite the downgraded visuals, the Reflex Edition of Modern Warfare lives up to its heritage with a strong campaign and multiplayer that will keep you up until sunrise.
  10. The explosions aren't too impressive, the shots aren't too realist and the models aren't too detailed than the past versions, but, still, this is a genuine Modern Warfare.
  11. Taken as a whole, it’s hard not to like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare -- Reflex Edition. The controls are solid and the presentation (while average) is decent enough not to detract from the performance.
  12. The expertly scripted and intensely exciting campaign is just as entertaining as it was two years ago on other systems, and even the occasional lapses in visual fidelity and control precision can't keep it from being a must-play for Wii shooter fans.
  13. The campaign is tired and played out for returning players, but for those who love Wii controls, the multiplayer is just as addicting.
  14. Treyarch did more than an admirable job porting last year's Call of Duty: World at War to the Wii, and with REFLEX they build on that success
  15. The arrival of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex on the Wii console gives users the opportunity to play what is probably the most beautiful chapters of the entire saga. The single player campaign brings into our living rooms really memorable moments stuck to perfection in an epic story and exciting. Once ended, anyone with a console connected to the web will enjoy a better multiplayer ever developed. The only flaw worth mentioning can be found in a control system that requires a learning period and can not satisfy all fans of FPS classics.
  16. It manages to pack in everything the original had, and the online side of things works extremely well, with no issues in finding games or lag that I could find in the many games I played.
  17. Treyarch had its work cut out for it in bringing a high-definition smash hit like Call of Duty 4 to the Wii, but the team really pulled it off.
  18. Treyarch has managed to represent the intensity of Modern Warfare in one of the best shooters in Wii. If you couldn't play the original game, this adaptation is a must-have for you.
  19. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition does have a few little niggles that bring the game down, but this is the best FPS on Wii and will have you hooked for hours on end, both online and offline.
  20. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex" looks and runs great on a system that shouldn't be able to handle it. If you have no other options to play the game on, it comes highly recommended. It's just a shame multiplayer isn't as fully featured as it could be.
  21. Given the extra two years Treyarch had to squeeze every last drop of polish from the Wii, this is underwhelming visually. It looks okay for a Wii game - that's the dreaded caveat - but it's not even up there with Metroid Prime: Corruption. Having said that, Modern Warfare is still an excellent shooter packed with options and it should be a big player online so we can welcome it to the Wii family.
  22. Other than the SD graphics, variations on multiplayer, and pointer controls, this is still Modern Warfare. It's still the first game in the most popular series that this particular genre has ever seen. Not enough has changed about the game, for better or worse, to make a dent in that.
  23. When compared to the Xbox and PS3 version it feels incredibly gimped, but when put up against other Wii shooters, Modern Warfare: Reflex stands out, and proves that the Wii can, indeed, keep up with the high-def generation. It just can't look as good while it does it.
  24. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Reflex is a great port of one of the best shooters ever made. It runs good on the Nintendo console, although there are better looking shooters, and the multiplayer is phenomenal.

Are you a Wii-gamer and looking for a good shooter? Don't wait any longer and buy this game, because right now there are no better shooter available on this console!
  26. It is a bit odd that Reflex was released two years after the fact. With so many people already playing Modern Warfare 2, it probably would have been beneficial to simply do a Wii edition of that rather than bringing back the first. Once you get past the controls, you will be pleasantly surprised as to how well the game has transitioned to the Wii. If you missed out the first time around or have a strong love of the original, you should definitely give it a try.
  27. This port isn't identical to its bigger brother, but it is damn close and that is commendable.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex may have more subtitles than it needs but it is a respectable port of one of the greatest first-person shooter experiences of our time.
  29. Call Of Duty: Reflex Edition, despite being equal to Modern Warfare (except for graphics) is a really good game, especially for the multiplayer component and a few new innovations.
  30. And really, this is Call of Duty: MW once more, and except for some sketchy controls, you really can't go too far wrong. If you need to shoot somebody, and for some reason have that urge while only having access to a Wii (a problem which should probably be looked into further), this will scratch that itch.
  31. This is still a really great game, but it's unable to truly surmount all of the difficulties that Wii puts on an FPS. If you only play one FPS on the Wii, this should be it, but it's still got many of the same problems that the genre is known for on this system.
  32. A great game on another platform. Modern Warfare looses much of its graphical glory on Wii and the point & click shooting style works much better with mouse & keyboard or with Smith & Wesson than what it does with Wiimote & nunchuck. With these deficits the game drops down to a mediocre experience. [Dec 2009]
  33. Reflex is a very decent shooter on the Wii. The multiplayer is especially convincing. Pretty much all things you’ve experienced in the version on other consoles is present here, only the weak controls and bad graphics make the game much less of a classic compared to the original. Still, it’s a little late but the release of this game on the Wii is a reason for owners of Nintendo’s console to be happy.
  34. Apart from a few technical issues and a gameplay that might be hard to master for many, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition proves to be a good product, whose qualities, very similar to the PS3, Xbox 360 e PC versions, will surely guarantee hours of fun to the whole Wii user base.

Unfortunately, Reflex Edition on Wii just doesn’t cut it as a Call of Duty branded game or as a top-tier Wii first-person shooter. The framerate is jumpy, the pointer tracking needs some serious polish, and while most of the elements of COD4 are included, none of them are given enough fine-tuning to truly excel.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition is what you'd expect to find out of it. It doesn't live up to the HD versions because the severe graphical hit the game takes, but the multiplayer is still a lot of fun to experience and that alone may make the game worth it for you.
  37. Is this conversion of Modern Warfare worth the wait? Frankly, no. Wii owners were expecting a more polished game, though the well-known technical limitations of the Nintendo console, while this one comes with mediocre graphics and unresponsive controls.
  38. Technical and control issues mean this is far from the best way to experience it. [Christmas 2009, p.46]
  39. Call of Duty 4: Reflex Edition could have been an amazing game. With a proper port, this could have been a perfect complement to the previous iteration of the title. However, the port job feels like it was cheaply thrown together, and an unfortunately large amount gets lost in translation.
  40. Even a clunky, hard-to-control Modern Warfare is better than no Modern Warfare, and Reflex may be fun for Wii owners who haven’t played – or seen – another version of the game. Ultimately, however, Reflex is proof that if there’s a way to make an FPS work on the Wii, no one has found it yet.
  41. Although still passably entertaining much of the time, stood next to other shooters on the Wii it doesn't even come close to matching the look and feel of games designed specifically for the system.
  42. As it stands, Modern Warfare Reflex is merely average. The multiplayer is addictive and the control options are varied, but the watered-down graphics and relentless frame rate problems keep it from being a power player. This game has seen better days, two years ago, in fact.
  43. While Reflex still retains the familiar gameplay and gritty urban outlook on war that made the original game such a massive success, it’s still difficult to recommend this severely downgraded port, even if the Wii was the only system available to players.
  44. Some effort has gone into this ill-advised port, but it's still a pale shadow of the HD original.
  45. 50
Modern Warfare may have finally found its way to the Wii, but I wish the original console controls had made the jump as well. Instead, Wii players get a game that forces heavy reliance on aim-assist (especially in multiplayer). The ultimate battle is with the controller, rather than the on-screen bad guys.

Well, its the same thing, just in different consoles. But, like the DS version, if you get use to the different controls it's gonna feel better and smoother than those in the PC or Xbox. Full Review »

It's the only CoD game I have on the wii, everything in it is great, the controls aren't the best, but it's still a lot of fun to play. A perfect game to pass time. Full Review »
