  1. If you're just after a quick rental, though, this can be worth checking out. And if you're a parent with a kid who likes Code Lyoko, put the 40 bucks down and grab this game -- they're sure to get a kick out of it.
  2. It is formulaic, simple and not too lengthy, but it does the job for its target audience and there are hundreds of kid's games out there that are much, much worse.
  3. 70
Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity is a standard platformer that delivers more fan-service than anything else.
  4. Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity is a pretty average action platformer that does a good job of translating its source material into a game.
  5. The effective control scheme and funky art style are enough to float the game above mundane, and fans of the series will be mostly content with the game's presentation. However, players will find the repetitive mission-oriented gameplay, with little payoff or progression, to be problematic and uninspiring.
  6. Parents with children that watch the show faithfully will please their progeny by purchasing this title, but others may find themselves unimpressed by the uninspired platforming and confusing characters.
  7. Fans of the show will likely relish the opportunity to relive one of their favorite series through the eyes of the protagonists, while everyone else will simply wonder what's going on and why one of the main characters is dressed like a cat.
  8. Fans may see past the clumsy structuring, but from a gamer's perspective this is slightly too flawed to pick up for throwaway fun. [Christmas 2007, p.62]

Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity offers little new to fans of the platformer genre, but perhaps followers of the show can overlook the bland mechanics just to spend time with the characters.
  10. 55
Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity should please fans of the series, but everyone else will find its generic gameplay dull and repetitive.
  11. This game takes many hours of back-study with the show to know what the hell is going on, which means you are going to be confused, guaranteed. But for you Lyoko-heads out there, this should be right up your data-stream.
  12. Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity is, at best, a rental for the true Lyoko devotee -- the game can easily be beaten in a short span -- and a polite pass for everyone else.
  13. This is a game that will probably appeal just to the core Code Lyoko fan-base. From a gaming standpoint, however, this game is near the bottom.
  14. 50
For a game aimed a children, Code Lyoko doesn't really deliver.
  15. The lackluster level designs and jerky controls make you feel empty. [Jan 2008, p.76]

Meh. I'm a fan of the show, so I enjoyed it, but it wouldn't really be fun for anyone else playing.

Obviously, many of the magazine reviewers haven't seen the series. Likewise they had preconceived expectations and not finding them (whatever they were) gave it mediocre reviews. The game is fun, the controls relatively easy but not too easy allowing the player to quickly learn moves and use them, the movements smooth, the scenery interesting and enemies plentiful. It can be played over & over. It is superior to many games currently out and on equal standing with Kingdom Hearts. Full Review »
