It's hard to explain the addictiveness that sets in after a few levels, but it's safe to say that it's head and shoulders above the likes of "Donkey Kong" and "Ice Climber."
The Classic NES version of Bomberman is a great game. If you can adjust to living with single player you will have a very different, but enjoyable adventure.
The added battery save is also much appreciated. [Aug 2004, p.61]
A classic game that didn't age as well as we had hoped, Bomberman is a must-have game for those who know they must have it.
This game just isn't as timeless and classic as the rest of the reissues in the Famicom Mini series, and will probably not see nearly as much play as the other titles if you've scored the entire lot.
The original Bomberman just wasn't a very good game back in 1987, and bringing it back unaltered as a “classic” doesn't change that simple fact.
Without a multiplayer mode and so many better versions of the game currently available on the GBA, like "Bomberman Tournament," this game really isn't worth $20.
