    Dragon Master Spell Caster is another of the many "learning the ropes" releases for a small studio testing the waters of Wii development -- the kind of game where lots of mistakes are made, and, hopefully, lots of lessons are learned.

  3. Unfortunately, even though it features some interesting flourishes (the ability to mix and create new spells, unlockable achievements, very nice between-level art), the core gameplay comes across as tedious and sloppy.

    They added classic controller support (at least in Europe) so the game is controllable now, still the ugliest console game I remember playing. The spell combination system is really opaque, while the manual gives you a basic rule of thumb which kind of spell is where the details are missing, especially the status effects (all I figured out is that "charming" prevents the enemy from using lock-on). There might be depth in the correct use of spells if you play against another player but if there is it certainly doesn't come through against the AI. Hit feedback is missing almost entirely. Also sometimes your spells combine with enemy spells and I have no idea what logic is used to determine who owns the spell (and who gets hurt by it). A bit silly to have an enemy trigger your ultimate spell and turn it against you. Expand

    This game is barely playable. The decision to control the dragon's pitch/yaw by tilting the nunchuk was a truly terrible one. You will spend your time contained in ugly (barely N64 quality) arenas flying awkwardly around, trying to aim at your opponent and shoot really low-quality particle effects at each other. I deleted this game within minutes of downloading it, and I have a ton of free space on my SD card, that's how bad it is. Even the menus are hideous. The guys who designed and developed this mess should choose a new career path. Expand
