  • Summary: An innovative new concept in multiplayer gaming, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time enables Wii and DS users to play side by side for the first time.     But it's the seamless transitioning of the single-player to the multiplayer (you can hop in and out from one to the other at any save point) that really seals the deal.

  3. While single players will need a bit of extra setup time, the enjoyable story and intuitive touch controls make Echoes of Time a blast to play for practically anyone – not just the diehard RPG fans out there.
  4. Though scaled back from the depth of a typical Final Fantasy adventure, there’s still a fair amount of value in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, but you need to really want it.
  5. The Wii version, however, suffers from a point drop simply because it's a lazy port that's got no effort behind it. So, as with so many Final Fantasy games, Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is one for the fans.

Unbelievably Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes Of Time is a total DS porting: it features the same graphics and the same gameplay, in which you have to use the WiiMote just like you use the pen on the DS version, without any change in the gameplay that could make this game more enjoyable on Nintendo Wii...Anyway, the game has a good concept and sometimes it’s funny too.
  7. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time on Wii is a complete mess. It’s simply unpleasant to play, which is a real shame, because content-wise it’s not half bad.

    I am a huge fan of the entire FF Series dating back to the original. I must admit when i saw this game on a preview trailer, i wasn't expecting too much from it. However i went out on a limb and decided to get it on the wii and i must admit it got me hooked. The movement is quick and it's not long before you find yourself fighting your first boss. The graphics are not THAT great. That is because of it being a transfer of the DS verision, however i have never been fussed about the graphics, and the gameplay will not disappoint you if you have played FF-CC: Rings of fate as it is the same style for battles and movement.

    The only true drawback i find with this game on the wii is the dual screen. It is a bit annoying and if you play on a small tv you might find the text hard to read. Other than that though, SE have, IMO, made a fun game that you can party with 3 others in a team of 4 and dungeon crawl till your hearts content.

    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is another instalment to the FFCC series. It is very similar to its DS predecessor although with many updates and changes. The player still controls the characters through the arrow buttons and use interactive abilities (attacking, magic, or holding). You can also play cooperatively on your Wii through a Nintendo DS which is a good addition. The game still uses each tribes' combat system, mostly an overhead real-time hack-and-slash form of fighting; however, it added in a new weaponry system, in which all tribes may use a variety of weapons and have abilities which range from two to three types of weapons. New weapons have also been added. The main problem with the game is that it is way too similar to the DS version. The Wii version of the game contains all of the major elements of the DS version, but must be played on a single screen. To compensate, the Wii version has two adjustable in-game windows. Each window has a maximum size that is approximately 40% of the total screen which can make the text (on both the play and item windows) difficult to read. I would advise getting the DS version instead or FFCC: The Crystal Bearers. Expand

    Unfortunately, I had more fun with the original than I did with this installment. The graphics are sub par, even for a Wii title, the dungeons lack any real direction, the dialogue (which I am usually pretty liberal about when it comes to JRPG's, even when they're published/developed by Square-Enix) isn't anything special, the controls are quite poor, it actually took me about four tries to walk up a ledge, at one point, without falling off. There are quite a few design flaws and decisions that I just don't understand...such as the player is required to hit a button to pick up items that enemies drop, which I might be able to wrap my head around if there existed a limit to the amount of items the player could carry...but, as far as I can tell, there isn't! Why wouldn't the player want to pick up everything...and just pick up items by walking over them, like 95% of games? Too many little things annoy me to really enjoy this game, especially being a game made by Square-Enix. They've both been around long enough to not put out games. On the positives though, the leveling system is pretty cool, nothing too intuitive. You can also play online apparently, I haven't done it yet, however, if it ran smoothly, I could see myself getting into that. Also, you can have a bunch of recruitments to help you out, which is kind of nice. Overall, I wouldn't pick it up for much more than fifteen dollars, unless you're REALLY into JRPG's or you're amidst a drought of games to play. Expand
