Dec 18, 2010More than just a remake, GoldenEye 007 lives up to its predecessor and then some by not only modernizing the story but the multiplayer as well.
-
Jan 1, 2011Aside from two small control issues, this Goldeneye is every bit as good as its classic predecessor.
-
Dec 18, 2010This is the real deal and the whole package folks. A must have for all Wii owners.
-
Dec 11, 2010If you've never played GoldenEye then now is your chance to experience a piece of retooled history, and if you are a grumbling diehard fan of the original then suck it up and get with the times. Change is good and GoldenEye 007 has never been better.
-
Dec 11, 2010GoldenEye 007 proves that excellent game design and superb action can overcome limitations of hardware or dated graphical presentation and is the rare Wii game that is just as compelling and addictive online or off.
-
Dec 11, 2010GoldenEye 007 is the best Bond game in years, and Wii owners should not hesitate to pick it up.
-
Dec 18, 2010Most importantly, Eurocom nails the Bond look and feel, letting Wii owners step into the shoes of the secret agent.
-
Dec 11, 2010The developers have taken everything awesome about Goldeneye (the plot and characters), the N64 classic (great mission-based gameplay and phenomenal multiplayer) and current FPS titles (the mechanics, a modern multiplayer leveling system), trimmed all the fat, added a few layers of polish, and printed it on a disc.
-
Dec 11, 2010Instead of standing in the original GoldenEye's shadow, Eurocom has created a brand new game that is just as compelling and addictive as the original.
-
Dec 11, 2010If you love first person shooters or you're a huge James Bond fan, than this game has definitely been made for you. Best first person shooter to have ever graced the Wii? Probably So!
-
Feb 28, 2011No matter if you are a fan of the old-school classic GoldenEye or playing for the very first time, the Wii has its best FPS to date in GoldenEye 007.
-
Jan 8, 2011If you were expecting a pale remake of the original GoldenEye, you might be happy to know that Eurocome overdid itself by developing one of the most interesting games of this year. GoldenEye 007 is perfectly designed, overall refined and definitely fun to play, being the lengthy and deep campaign or the excellent multiplayer mode. It's also about James Bond, 'nuff said.
-
Jan 5, 2011The end result is a game that's among the most entertaining overall on the Wii, and easily the finest example of a first-person shooter the console has to offer.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKDec 31, 2010It was going to be hard to do the original justice, but this remake does and then some. [Christmas 2010, p.68]
-
Dec 18, 2010GoldenEye 007 is a wonderful re-imagining of a classic game that some have held onto for far too long.
-
Dec 18, 2010With a new story, a plethora of multiplayer modes (both online and off), and tons of unlockables, there is considerable value to Goldeneye on the Wii.
-
Dec 12, 2010I don't think the WIi game will change the FPS genre in the same way the Rare design did, but as a standalone, original experience, it's hard to deny this game's greatness.
-
Dec 11, 2010GoldenEye 007 is the best multiplayer game on the Wii.
-
Dec 11, 2010Yet GoldenEye 007 could have gotten away without using that namesake as, against all perceptions upon initial reveal, this re-imaging is strong enough to stand on its own and, aside from a few online limitations and control niggles, it is easily one of Wii's best shooters.
-
Dec 11, 2010It's not the N64 version but it more than holds up on its own.
-
Dec 11, 2010No matter what Eurocom did, it's Wii version of GoldenEye 007 was never destined to be the iconic title the N64 original was. However, that doesn't mean the game should be dismissed, as it is by far the best shooter available on the Nintendo console and probably the best Wii game I've played to date.
-
Dec 21, 2010So how does GoldenEye 007 on the Wii stack up to the N64 classic? Well, the short answer is that the two really can't be compared. Will any experience ever match that of the original? Probably not. Does this game do a fantastic job of recreating the Bond universe in a new era? Absolutely.
-
Dec 11, 2010With good graphics, solid sound, and a great single player and multiplayer experience, it is easy to recommend that owners of the Wii pick up this reincarnated GoldenEye 007 game as you'd be missing one of the better FPS titles on the console and one of the better Wii games this holiday season.
-
Dec 11, 2010I had my doubts until the very end, but no longer. Activision and Eurocom have pulled off the impossible: they've revived a classic by remaining constantly cognizant of the line separating tradition from obsolescence.
-
Dec 11, 2010GoldenEye 007 is a great step in the right direction for this long-neglected franchise.
-
Jan 13, 2011GoldenEye 007 is a really enjoyable, modern Bond game while honouring the N64 original. An incredibly fun shooter.
-
Dec 27, 2010The merit of Eurocom was the realization that new concepts should be assimilated into gameplay. And this, along some concepts already established and some additions, enriched the final product, making an incredible, nostalgic experience.
-
Dec 12, 2010GoldenEye 007 has a surprisingly impressive single-player campaign that remains true to its roots despite deliberately rewriting the script. The multiplayer doesn't break any barriers and it's weighed down by performance issues, but it's still fun for a few rounds in the living room or online.
-
Jan 13, 2011GoldenEye is not the remake many were expecting, and it doesn't live up to the original. GoldenEye is its own game, a new entry on James Bond's series, with great plot and gameplay and, even more important, one of the best FPS out there for the Nintendo Wii.
-
Jan 12, 2011Although it does not have many competitors in the Wii library, this is the best FPS in Wii, with the best multiplayer mode, and one of the best games of the year in the console.
-
Jan 12, 2011GoldenEye 007 is back, in a different but equally good way from the Nintendo 64 classic. Thanks to its variety, and to the numerous approaches available to complete a mission, stand as one of the finest single player FPS experiences of the last years. Great visuals and a good musical score, along with a solid multiplayer, complete the experience. Time to get back on Her Majesty's secret service.
-
Jan 3, 2011GoldenEye 007 is as close as players will get to the much-demanded N64 remake. While nostalgic players will excuse the game's "differences", others will find a very enjoyable title worth adding to their Wii game library.
-
Dec 18, 2010Frankly, I haven't seen a more impressive Wii shooter. Old and new fans alike will find much to love, and I encourage everyone here to give it a shot.
-
Dec 18, 2010GoldenEye 007 is an entirely new and incredibly fun shooter that doesn't rely on its prestigious pedigree to provide thrills.
-
Dec 12, 2010I may have harped on a few flaws with the game, but overall GoldenEye is a very solid game and well worth the money if you enjoy videogames. If you're a Bond freak then the golden Classic Controller makes for a nice collector's item, but it's hard to justify the purchase beyond that since the Wii Remote and Nunchuck were my preferred area of control.
-
Nintendo PowerDec 11, 2010"Quotation Forthcoming"
-
Dec 14, 2010GoldenEye Wii is nowhere near a straight port of the N64 classic and it is not supposed to be. Instead, players are treated with a classic experience but told through fresh eyes; the experience is impressive.
-
Jan 11, 2011GoldenEye and Daniel Craig have made it to the next generation of consoles. Good graphics, old-school, but improved gameplay, and the famous splitscreen make this title to everyone's darling.
-
Dec 18, 2010Control can be an issue. A Wii-mote/nunchuk combo will get you through the game, but waggling the remote isn't an elegant way to aim a sniper rifle.
-
Dec 18, 2010Overall I'd say that Goldeneye is more than worth your time, in fact, it's probably one of the best FPS titles on the Wii at this point.
-
Dec 12, 2010The good news is that developer Eurocom has managed to craft a new GoldenEye that, despite a few hiccups, makes a valiant effort to straddle the divide between nostalgia and a new generation of first-person shooters.
-
Nintendo GamerFeb 6, 2011If CoD is you thing, you'll get loads of value from this. [Christmas 2010, p.62]
-
Jan 16, 2011This new GoldenEye 007 certainly isn't perfect, but Eurocom hits enough high points to make a really enjoyable, modern Bond game while honouring the legacy of the N64 original.
-
Jan 12, 2011Although it might look like the result of despicable commercial strategy, GoldenEye 007 is actually an excellent game that deserves a place among the best products developed on a Nintendo platform during this year.
-
Jan 11, 2011GoldenEye 007 is a nice addition to the Wii-only FPS genre: it doesn't succeed in maintaining the incredible level of quality reached by its Nintendo 64 ancestor, but is nevertheless a good game, with an excellent single player campaign and a funny multiplayer side.
-
Jan 7, 2011GoldenEye 007 turned out to be a good Wii game. The game doesn't need many words, except for: just buy it and start shooting bad guys!
-
Jan 6, 2011GoldenEye 007 keeps up with today's standards. The game is less linear than its predecessor and has some great gameplay elements. Furthermore, interesting multiplayermodes do justice to the original.
-
Jan 5, 2011Sometimes you feel it's an old game and sometimes a new one, but it's a really fun one nonetheless.
-
Dec 18, 2010It was an impossible task to match the original and surprisingly, by changing almost everything, Eurocom came close to doing it. What they have managed to do is create the second best Bond game to-date, and given Wii owners a great shooter.
-
Dec 18, 2010If GoldenEye 007 wasn't called GoldenEye 007, people would likely not know entirely what to make of it, perhaps viewing it as an interesting, entertaining curiosity.
-
Dec 18, 2010When the hype settles, the new GoldenEye will probably not be as epoch-defining as the original. However, its pick-up-and-party multiplayer, and audacious and satisfying single-player mean that Goldeneye 007 on the Wii may wear the name with pride.
-
Dec 18, 2010I tend to sprint in the middle of the room with a shotgun, shoot a round in the air, and get ready for the army to rain down on me. To each his own.
-
Dec 18, 2010Despite all that could have gone wrong this is one of the best remakes this generation, with a triumphant return for old school split screen multiplayer.
-
Dec 18, 2010Though the game plays much better without motion controls, Goldeneye is a solid shooter in which Wii owners should find plenty to like.
-
Dec 18, 2010Online or offline, GoldenEye is easily one of the better first-person shooters on the Wii, and its online experience is great by any console's standards.
-
Dec 12, 2010A polished FPS with great multiplayer and plenty of reason to keep playing.
-
Edge MagazineDec 12, 2010In giving fans what they want, and delivering what a modern audience needs, the studio has created a game that, while not quite a classic, sometimes reminds you of one. [Christmas 2010, p.89]
-
Dec 12, 2010GoldenEye 007 is a restoration of a classic.
-
Dec 11, 2010What it does manage, however, is to not only demonstrate the Wii as a serious first person platform – a well overdue achievement – but sits alongside the likes of the Call Of Duty franchise as being one of the top shooters available on any console.
-
Dec 11, 2010The odds were stacked against GoldenEye 007 from the outset -- and it's unlikely to ever bear the same level of importance as the original -- but Eurocom and Activision have emerged with a Bond shooter that is not only a great Wii game, but one that does both the franchise and genre as a whole justice.
-
Dec 11, 2010It's more of a loving homage to the original, updating the aesthetics and stages while retaining everything that made the original so great.
-
Dec 11, 2010It's damn good, and not just in a "good for the Wii" kind of way. Of course it doesn't match the likes of Modern Warfare 2 and Halo Reach shot for shot, but it provides a thrilling eight hours worth campaign that offers a worthy diversion from any current HD alternative.
-
Games Master UKDec 29, 2010Probably the best 'serious' shooter on Wii. [Jan 2011, p.90]
-
Dec 11, 2010Goldeneye 007 might not reclaim the FPS crown from the original N64 release, but it is still a solid offering and one of the best shooters available for the Wii.
-
Dec 18, 2010Arguably the best Bond game since the original GoldenEye, and the definitive single player Wii shooter, bought down only by marginal multiplayer flaws.
-
Dec 11, 2010Is it the best FPS on the Wii? That's a tough question, but even if it's for the splitscreen offline multiplayer action – then GoldenEye 007 is a must-own for any Wii gamer.
-
Jan 31, 2011GoldenEye doesn't tarnish the original and doesn't try to be a carbon copy either, but it is hindered by problems which were always going to be hard to surmount. If you're panging for a bit of Bond and something to play with friends round, you could do a lot worse than what is a fine revival of a classic.
-
Jan 18, 2011With its great single player campaign and friendly multiplayer, we could even say that GoldenEye 007 is the best game adaptation of James Bond's adventures, if we expect, of course, the first GoldenEye 007, untouchable.
-
games(TM)Jan 11, 2011It does a superb job of replicating the sensation of playing your memory of a decade-old shooter, even if it does so by basically being a decade-old shooter. [Christmas 2010, p.126]
-
Jan 6, 2011You have to wonder whether being based on an old classic has held GoldenEye 007 back more than serving as a welcome inspiration. Reliving sections of the old game is fun, but in the grand scheme of things, new levels play better are look more interesting. Fans of the Nintendo 64 classic don't get much reason to switch, and Bond-fanatics are better off sticking with the movies and books. But if you do all your shooting on the Wii, GoldenEye 007 is a safe bet.
-
Dec 18, 2010It's a bit ropey in places, especially during multiplayer games, but the single-player campaign is simple fun and the online play is surprisingly entertaining and thorough.
-
Dec 18, 2010Given the changes, the finicky controls at the beginning, and hit and miss online multiplayer sessions, GoldenEye 007 is a title that plays it hot and cold far too much.
-
Dec 18, 2010Does it live up to the original? Heck no – we said it was impossible, remember? It is a damn fine, "serious" shooter on the Wii, and that's saying something.
-
Dec 12, 2010This is a robust FPS, comfortably the strongest on its platform and, while derivative of its strongest rivals, it's still able to compete in key areas.
-
Game InformerDec 11, 2010"Quotation Forthcoming"
-
Jan 12, 2011Activisions retelling of Goldeneye is no where near the high standards of Rares original game. Still, it's one of the better shooers for Wii and the online multiplayer experience is good fun.
-
Dec 18, 2010If you're absolutely desperate for a Wii shooter, especially a multiplayer title, then Goldeneye is worth a look.
-
Dec 12, 2010If this new GoldenEye will not replace the original in the heart of the players, if it is unlikely to be remembered in ten years, this new adventure of 007 still performs brilliantly. The graphics are quite good, the staging is dynamic and offers some nice moments of adrenaline, the multiplayer modes are fun... without reaching the excitement we get the original in 1997, of course, a matter of historical context. Anyway that's solid shooter we have here, and that's good news for the Wii!
-
Dec 12, 2010This is not your older brother's GoldenEye. It's been updated, re-skinned, had some control adjustments, and instead of reclaiming the crown of top four-player shooter, it's just another face in the crowd.
