  1. While I knew I’d love playing the songs off the first four albums, the rest of the soundtrack definitely matches the intensity of the vintage stuff. [May 2009, p.83]
  2. The Metallica integration goes deeper than the music itself – the band members all appear in the game, although career mode finds you playing not as anyone IN Metallica, but as the band opening for them while on tour.
  3. For fans of the Guitar Hero franchise, Guitar Hero: Metallica might be the best entry we've seen yet. I was somewhat lukewarm on my reception to the other band-themed title that Neversoft put out with GH: Aerosmith, but Metallica absolutely blows that game out of the water, not only with the track listing, but the overall time and attention put into the actual presentation, and how the band seems to be infused into every aspect of the game.

It certainly doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's been a while since I've had this much fun with a music game. The Wii version suffers from poor compression on the bonus content, but the core game shouldn't be missed.
  5. The perfect package for Metallica fans, though putting together a full set of instruments could be costly. [July 2009, p.90]
  6. If there were to be an official wish list for a Metallica music game, Guitar Hero: Metallica would have crossed most of those wishes off of the list.
  7. Essential for Metallica fans and GH experts, but everyone else should stick to World Tour. [June 2009, p.82]
  8. With Guitar Hero: Metallica, it looks like Neversoft was able to balance the interests of fans of the band and fans of the franchise.

This game is an absolute must have for every rock and Guitar Hero fan.

its not my favorite video game in the Guitar Hero series, but 260 songs are way easier to beat in this one.

This game is great. Obviously it's centered around Metallica, so if you're not a fan of this band, move on. (And why are you even reading this?). I happen to love Metallica, and this games for me. The song selection is awesome, both the Metallica songs and not, and I'm glad thay went back to the GH I-III style career, which I prefer. Pick this up soon. Full Review »
