It is the most complete title of the Mortal Kombat series, with every character (including one who is Wii-exclusive) and worth buying if you are a fan just for this.
  2. Even though it lacks an abundance of new content, its Wii-sensitive control set-up and additional content do enough to keep the blood pumping -- fighting fans will find bloody satisfaction with Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon is the most feature-rich version of the series to date, not to mention the best fighting game currently available on Nintendo’s newest console.

The new gesture based controls seem like a bad idea, and yet in practice they feel responsive and satisfying to perform... most of the time. Very occasionally, your movements won't be recognized, which is troubling.
  5. We’re definitely disappointed in the implementation of the Wii controls in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. It could be so much more than it is, and with downgraded graphics and no online option, this is a lazy port. At the same time, there are more fighters, stages, and modes here than you’ll likely ever get around to messing with.
  6. A good entry point to the series, but if you've played any recent Mortal Kombat game, you'll notice that most of this stuff has been recycled.
  7. While the Wii-mote controls are pretty gimmicky and not very practical, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon offers a robust amount of features and game modes, plus plenty of fighters and unlockables to keep you busy.
  8. All of the basic attacks have been moved to the Wii remote's d-pad, which is awkward enough by itself. The bigger change is that the special moves are now associated with controller movements. [June 2007, p.113]

The changes are as skull-shattering as we had hoped -- rejuvenating a franchise in dire need of a makeover.

Get two people together and it's damn good fun! [June 2007, p.90]

Fans should not be disappointed. [July 2007, p.93]

The Wii handles violent OTT theatrics like no other console, but a fresh game would have been much appreciated. [July 2007, p.48]
  13. If you are looking for a fighting game that uses the Wiimote, there aren’t many options available on the shelves. Armageddon for the Wii fills that void nicely.

With the remote in hand Armageddon plays best on Wii, but we'd like a fresh installment. [Aug 2007, p.68]
  15. Armageddon is just another fighter these days. It may have been one of the most popular fighting games of the mid-90’s but that time has long passed.
  16. There’s a lot of game here for the money, and as long as you haven’t already played it, it’s definitely worth picking up.

This is like the other Mortal Kombats... Well there you have it, but if your looking to buy a game with decent graphics and something new, give this a try. Playing with a friend and kicking there ass can be pretty entertaning. This somewhat flawed game still has some fun in it. Full Review »
