  1. Out on the track, you'll race primarily in two modes--Grip and Drag races. Both styles give you an excellent hands-on feel that brings home the sense of speed and real-world challenge. [Holiday 2007, p.85]
  2. Apart from looking like an ugly baby conceived in the back of a broken-down El Camino by a couple of illeterates, tilting the Wii remote translates to your car surprisingly well. [Dec 2007, p.137]
  3. The more you enjoy your cars, the more you'll get out of it. [Jan 2008, p.36]
  4. The relative blandness of the Wii's visuals and the slightly unresponsive Remote steering make an average game of what could have been a belter. [Issue#18, p.85]
  5. It’s a game that may well appeal to a broader demographic, but also one that may leave its existing fans somewhat out in the cold. There really needed to be more innovation and less reworking of old ideas if Pro Street was ever going to live up to the (not insurmountable) hype.
  6. There's a lightweight, throwaway feel to the racer. Still, it fills a gap in the Wii racer genre. [Jan 2008, p.74]
  7. ProStreet is a solid racing game, but it's missing most of what made the previous games in the series interesting.
  8. Need for Speed ProStreet is a decent racing game that got sidetracked along the way. It appears EA was more concerned with in-game advertising than ensuring the game got the proper attention it needed.

Need for Speed ProStreet is a disappointing effort in a franchise that has generally been rather solid. It sort of feels like EA is starting over again, leaving the open-world aspects to other games like its own Burnout Paradise, but is seems like Black Box didn't know what to do with what was left.
  10. ProStreet isn't a bad game, it simply doesn't hold a candle to its competition, and Need for Speed fans will be left wondering where all the fun has gone from the illegal, turned legal, street racing series.
  11. The different disciplines may work in the real world, but not so much as Need for Speed ProStreet presents it in video game form. While racing game fans will find a decent NFS game behind the hip-hop facade, most people shouldn't bother with it.
  12. Examining the series, we can’t but name this ProStreet as the ugly duckling of Need For Speed. EA tried to break some principles, therefore getting in the way of other great racing games, but clearly failed.
  13. Not having any online play also hinders this title, but it most likely wouldn't have helped much considering all of its other issues. If you are looking for a great and enjoyable racing experience, you should definitely look elsewhere.
  14. 40
By losing the open city nature of previous games and restricting you to organised events the series has lost a large part of what was fun about it in the first place. Add to that the fact that the driving itself seems to have become horribly broken since last year and suddenly you're left with a game that's relying solely on its image to shift copies.
  15. 30
We haven't been huge fans of Need for Speed: ProStreet on other consoles, but the Wii version is by far the absolute worst one. It's not even so much the muddy, washed-out graphics (though they are quite awful, even by Wii standards) as it is that a significant number of features seem to have been stripped right out of the game and replaced with a control scheme that is agonizingly frustrating.
  16. While there may be some hardcore gamers that will enjoy the many, many hours of repetitive racing, most players will only look forward to throwing this one out the window rather than deal with the archaic controls and numerous problems.

excellent control system that uses the WiiMote to a great effect, if you like your cars you will definately enjoy this game. The "professional" reviews here are unduly harsh in my book. Worth a try for sure. Full Review »
