EA has succeeded in making a fun party game that's easy for players of all ages to pick up and enjoy thanks to its superior controls and fast pace.
  2. NHL Slapshot does a great job playing to the strengths of the Wii, which makes for an accessible experience and smooth on-ice action.
  3. NHL Slapshot is a game that any sports loving fan who owns a Wii should try.
  4. It has well rounded full game modes along with Play Now modes for when you want to sneak a quick game in or play with friends.
  5. Just like Madden NFL 11 before it, NHL Slapshot is yet another example that great things can be accomplished on the Wii if the desire to deliver a faithful and respectful product is truly present. Of course, this won't make you buy it over NHL 11, but if you are a hockey fan and the latest games from 2K weren't what you truly wanted, this game is worth your attention.
  6. NHL Slapshot does not, of course, offer the kind of depth or hockey authenticity you'll get from NHL 11 on the 360 or PS3. It's not meant to. This game is purely about flying up and down the ice, scoring goals, and putting the lumber on people. If that's what you're looking for, you're going to be satisfied.
  7. Sharp controls and an ingenious hockey-stick peripheral make NHL Slapshot a great arcade hockey game.
  8. We didn't expect a lot from NHL Slapshot, which may explain our delight at what we found. With the right audience, it's a superb hockey game with its own unique charm and "this is all about having fun" vibe. There ain't nothing wrong with that.
  9. To say I was surprised how well NHL Slapshot turned out is an understatement. I was really just expecting a Wii version of the NHL Arcade game released on the XBLA and PSN last year, but to see that EA put a lot of love and care into this game and made it a game all on its own, without feeling like a dumbed down version of the 360 and PS3 games was very welcome indeed.
  10. NHL Slapshot is easily the premier hockey game for Nintendo's little waggle box, and will provide hours of entertainment for stringent hockey nuts, young peewee gamers, and any level of hockey fan in between.

Veterans to the series who want their NHL game to be as realistic as possible will still want to go with the PS3 or 360 versions. But gamers who want a fun, faster paced version of the NHL, coupled with good use of motion controls, will definitely want to check out NHL Slapshot.

An impressive and fun hockey experiment for Wii owners. Even the truly die-hard hockey fans will enjoy this immersive stick-in-the-hand experience, even if they're playing the "real" NHL 11 on the HD consoles.
  13. NHL Slapshot is an awesome inaugural Wii hockey game for EA. It plays to the strengths of the system with fun, easily accessible, motion-based gameplay.
  14. While it's impossible to fairly compare NHL Slapshot to triple-A HD console hockey titles, this Wii game is a state-of-the-art effort in sports gaming for Nintendo's console, a system that is too often overlooked for proper treatment when it comes to pro-league licensed titles.

NHL Slapshot is a fantastic addition to the EA Sports lineup on Wii. Hopefully we will see it continue to evolve over the next few years and finally give Wii owners something to look forward to in the hockey arena.

Personally as a HUGE hockey fan i love this game. The games go by fast so if you don't have much time you can still fit in a few games! alsoPersonally as a HUGE hockey fan i love this game. The games go by fast so if you don't have much time you can still fit in a few games! also you can update the rosters to go along with real life rosters. As you may know you can play as the great one Wayne Gretzky. and no matter what team you put him on could turn a team from bad to good and from good to unbeatable. The only Problems i have with this game is how simple it is to score a goal. Any fast shot or awkward angle shot will 75% of the time go in the back of the net. Also the graphics aren't to well..you cant tell Wayne Gretzky apart from Patrick Kane. And the dekeing is..just horrible! it rarely ever picks up the motion sensor. overall its a good game to pass the time. Full Review »
