  1. Conceptually speaking, Onechanbara entreats a dangerous dance of kitsch and low-brow entertainment. But poor design philosophy, a general disregard for story, and gameplay that will literally leave you sore land it in a special category of games barely worth the plastic they’re burned on. Sexy just isn’t enough, and contrary to its buxom beauties, Onechanbara is an ugly game from most angles.
  2. The wait goes on for a quality Devil May Cry, God of War or Ninja Gaiden clone on Wii. Only consider picking this up if anime bikini-clad zombie killers turn you on, or you don't have the internet in your bedroom.

There’s no getting around the fact that it’s often more tempting to run past the majority of enemies and complete the game in a couple of hours, than it is to actually brawl your way through. [Apr 2009, p.113]
  4. Onechanbara makes zombie-slaying women boring.
  5. What little mature fun was to be had, including the cutscenes and dress-up mode are now nowhere to be found and the motion controls utterly wreck what should just be mindless zombie-goring fun.

Titillation just for its own sake seldom works in gaming, but here, it’s been taken to new low. This virtual bikini romp suffers from poor graphics, primitive level design, and controls that will make the player feel like an idiot (or worse). If you really need to see Japanese girls in cosplay outfits to feel manly, just buy some tissue and browse the internet.

quality framerates, but honestly this is the best (not to mention most elaborate) use of motion controls I've personally seen thus far, quality framerates, but honestly this is the best (not to mention most elaborate) use of motion controls I've personally seen thus far, particularly the mudman combo which is one of the most rewarding maneuvers I've ever experienced in any game. If only there is an entire game based around controls like that but I only hear of games using the A button instead as if it's somehow a good thing. Well until such a game exists there is Onechanbara. Full Review »

It is SO cheap and you get a guilty pleasure that is actually fun. 4 different characters all with special abilities that you can upgrade makes this game playable for HOURS. Swords, throwing stars, SHOTGUNS, UZI'S, and powerups makes this game SIMPLY FUN! Since there are SO FEW games on the wii, if you need a break, this worked for me! Really, you wont be sorry. Such good fun. Full Review »

If you are looking for a full 30 hour adventure experience, hold your horses because Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is not an adventureIf you are looking for a full 30 hour adventure experience, hold your horses because Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers is not an adventure game per se.
This game brings to 2009 an arcade experience rescued from the more frenetic pages of late 90's gaming saloons.
The most tangible truth about Onechanbara, played on the Nintendo Wii, is that you ought to be open to the whole experience with the wiimote, im talking about shake both controls, so the lack of an "attack" button is something that you have to consider.
