    Its a classic. reborn and reborn again. Still pleases the eyes after all these years. Absolutly worth a buy if you havent played the gamecube version ."there virtually the same games but with wiimote controls" It would get a 10 but the controls do have a learning curve as did the previous games. 30 minutes and you will be able to control no problem. The graphics are outdated, the controls are clunky, the camera is annoying at times, but is it still one of the greatest survivor horror games of all time?! You betcha. Loved every minute of it and this classic will outlast all those Halos, Gears of War and GTAs for years to come.

    Resident Evil is a remake of the title that solely gave the survival horror genre the popularity it deserves in the video game industry. Everything a person would want in a remake is present. (Review relevant to the Gamecube and Wii versions, and basically relevant to the HD release as well)

    One of my favourite games of all time. A gaming masterpiece, with a distinct atmosphere and sense of dread. Awesome looking enemies. Always makes me jump somewhere, no matter how many times I play. Plenty of puzzles, story, item collection and different ways of getting through the game,;

    One of my favourite games of all time. A gaming masterpiece, with a distinct atmosphere and sense of dread. Awesome looking enemies. Always makes me jump somewhere, no matter how many times I play. Plenty of puzzles, story, item collection and different ways of getting through the game,; but not so many as to become overwhelming like for example RPGs can be.

    Improves over the 1997 original in many ways. It;s slightly more accessible and playable with things like auto aim, slightly easier inventory management and defensive items.

    Awesome, creative survival features like burning the bodies and having to manipulate items in the inventory to make them useful. So much back story to follow if you have time/ interest.

    Why not a 10? Well, some of the enemies are actually a bit too easy compared to the original (snake, Hunters), and the end boss is a bit underwhelming and easy to kill. In RE it was very satisfying to kill the Hunters, here it doesn't feel the same. There's still very slightly too much back tracking at times, but nothing like RE Zero - which is still a good game by the way.

  1. Having multiple control options, not having to change out tiny discs midway through the game, and having better audio are definitely pluses, but I don’t think they are big enough improvements to merit picking up this title if you already own the GameCube version.
  2. There's no doubting the quality of the game but veterans really won't be getting anything new here, so we can only recommend this to players who have yet to see where it all started. And even they might find the controls long past their sell by date.
  3. Boasting an intense atmosphere, satisfying puzzles and nail-biting combat, it's a game that will linger long in the memory for those who succumb to its dark allure. If you missed out on this the first or even second time around, then now's the time to pick up a true classic - at the right price.
