First of all I have to say that I am biased as I am a very big RE fan. I knew it was a rail-shooter so I wasn't expecting a lot of depth. But in all fairness for a rail shooter it does a good job at adding plenty of unlockables and upgradable weapons and very addicting co-op. This is not a major title. To me this is like the equivalent to mario kart or mario party. Its not really a game in the main series. It is however something that is entertaining alone and very enjoyable with another person. If you like on-rail shooters I am sure you will enjoy this. If you hate on-rail shooters..... obviously this is going to be a game where you wished you were one of the zombies with a bullet in its head.… Expand

This is a game made for the fans that is easy for casual gamers to pick up and play, while still having a ton of replay value for hardcore gamers and genre buffs. Umbrella Chronicles has it's flaws but they are all minor and nobody but nitpickers will find any. Besides, they will be too busy enjoying themselves to bother looking.

Not as good as a main game, but as a walkthrough to history? Oh yes! This is a great on rails shooter game that combines house of the dead gameplay and Resident Evi story. I would say this, if you are a massive fan of Resident Evil, buy this game. It is a superb game.

Ok we know that this game is not perfect, what with its short running time and its inability to be nearly as fun alone as with a friend; but the co-op ability and the replayability make this game a must have for light gun enthusiasts. The graphics were not the most impressive thing, even for a Wii, but it doesn't hinder gameplay at all so it can be gotten over.

It is fantastic, the controls are nice and the graphics are superb. This game is fantastic and it is a reborn to the dying genre of on-rails arcade shooters.

Think Chicken Shoot but with the obnoxious camerawork of an episode of the TV show E.R. If you want a rail shooter on the Wii, wait for Time Crisis -- if it's ever ported over, that is. If you want a new Resident Evil game, this isn't what you want. The key aspect that makes the RE series so unnerving is that you have to suck it up and advance into the abyss -- peek around that corner, open the next door, or try to creep into a village. Somehow, being in control of your movements creates a feeling of fear & dread. That aspect is completely missing from this game, because instead of trying to creep around, you're just riding along and aiming at stuff. All that's left, then, is a so-so rail shooter with slow firing rates and sloppy camerawork. If it weren't for co-op, there'd be no reason at all to recommend this game. Sorry, Capcom.… Expand

Alright, I understand why some people don't enjoy scroll / rail shooters. However, this is the best rail shooter that I have ever played. First, it isn't the typical short rail shooter with a play time of over six hours and more than likely around 15 + hours to completely finish it. If you don't like rail games then this more than likely isn't for you. However, if you have enjoyed rail games in the past then they don't get any better than this one. The 'lightgun' style action is fun and exciting in the rich RE world for a while and the representations of RE0 and RE1 are great. The 3rd act starts to drop off the rails though and goes progressively further downhill until the awful 'new' chapter that both plays badly and adds nothing to the series whatsoever. I am a resident evil newbie, so this game was a great refresher on how the whole series started out. I never did play the single play mode of this game, I only rented it to shoot zombies with a friend. I believe the game served its purpose, I did find it a bit short though. My friend and I played through the co-op part in 2 hours. I thought the graphics could have been better. I give it a 7 because I think it serves it purpose as a quality rail gun shooter.… Expand

Loads of fun. best when played co-op, however still fun alone. it dose a fairly good job of summerizing the plot of Re:0, Re:1, & Re:3. (where's 2?) but it get some things really wrong. Nemisis has been made into a huge loser (he has become just a huge brainless mass & not the Monolith that owned anyone who tried to play Re:3) & the lickers don't act like lickers (they sit there & flick the toungs around for a while then the tongs wip out & they lost their awsome claws). however this is definetaly worth playing. the classic bosses are amazin (except for Nemises), almost all the classic enimes show up (everything from leaches to chimieras to hunters to crows). but the new bosses are hardly inspired (a giant bat? a giant worm? Mr. X in white?) it's a lot of fun to play classic missions from new points of view (wesker or Rebecca any one?) & the wepon upgrade system works very well. highly distuctive enviorments (if it's not a wall it will probubly break) & multipul pathes make this a game woth playing.… Expand

Resident for wii it is the best rail game to play with the wii zapper.It includes areas from resident 1 , 2 , 3 and it is fantastic game.The best thing of this game is the sounds effects it all amazing so resident evil it is an excellent game.

As a huge RE fan, despite not a traditional RE game, RE:UC still delivers a lot of fun and also background into Wesker and Umbrella. I finished the game after 13 hours of playing. For an onrail shooter it's actually quite a long game with over 20 levels. As an RE fan though, what I liked was the fact that this game basically fills in all the gaps found inbetween all the other games and provides you with more background info on Wesker and Umbrella. I won't spoil it but there were some unexpected characters that you played as which was pretty cool. The one thing I didn't like was the voice acting. This is because nearly all the voice actors were different to previous games and because of this, some of the new voice actors sound like completely different characters...e.g. Chris sounds like Leon, Billy doesn't sound like Billy AT ALL, Rebecca sounds like a 10yr old girl and less confident and Wesker while a pretty good imitation of of Richard Waugh, at the end of the day isn't Richard Waugh which is a shame. Overall though it's great fun while it lasts. If you've never played an RE game before though, I think this game is actually not doing you any good because it essentially covers the main events in each game of the series.....which can kind of spoil it if you decide to pick up the other games later on.… Expand

The game is an OK rail shooter - nothing new or exciting. It gets a bit slow at times, and slashing at the little worms can get annoying. Would be much cooler if they did an expansion to RE4 instead of this game.

Great game for RE fans. Graphics are good for the Wii. Voice acting is cheesy, but I wouldn't've wanted it any other way. Co-op gives it legs (co-op is awesome!). Might be short, but side stories make up for it. Well-deserving of any RE fan's money!

This game is very good for it's genre. It offers more than decent gameplay plus a great storyline. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. It was a great buy and a great addition to the RE franchise.

I was looking for only one thing for this game to do perfectly; shooting zombies is fun. The verdict is that it is really fun! Umbrella Chronicles is a great arcade game you can play in your living room. It has enough dept to make it worth purchasing. Most arcade game ports (I know this isn’t a port) are lacking in features which makes for shallow replay values. But this one as weapon upgrades, branching paths and many unlockables that makes it worth replaying. The levels are a bit too short. It would be fun to see more of them, but that’s a small negative point. Overall the game is fun and as a Resident Evil maniac, I’m really happy with my purchase.… Expand

Truly the most heart breaking and disappointing game of the year. Even as a rail shooter it fails to succeed - where the positive reviews have come from, I simply don't know, but they genuinely frighten me into worrying that it will encourage Capcom and Nintendo to pump out more games of such an unenjoyable level and mess. It's a disheveled heap of who knows what - the only real resemblance to Resident Evil it has is that you recognize some of the scenery, and zombies attack you. The audiovisuals are comparatively better than those of other Wii games. There are many levels on different difficulty settings, and it's over 20 hours long. My first resident evil game with friends that played it before in PS. Although it was OK I also must say that it is the first time I felt sorry for not buying a PS instead of a Nintendo Wii.. With wii remote capabilities I would expect it to be much better. It is 18+ just because of the content not because of the difficulty of it. With puppies instead of zombies it would be 3+.

I don't have any idea why Wii scores are so inflated in the user area. This is the most disappointing addition to the Resident Evil franchise ever. Overlooking the inherent flaws of the "on-rails" shooter genre, there's still really nothing to look forward to in this game other than finding a bit about the backstory of Resident evil. I know it's something that we're not supposed to do with the Wii, but I have no idea what went wrong in the graphics sector of this game. Even on 480p, the actual action sequences look absolutely horrible. Some of it looked as bad as PS1. It confused me because the non-action sequences popped back to looking fine almost as quickly as it degraded. The gameplay felt very repetitive to me. I guess that's due to the whole "on-rails" format. There just wasn't enough to entertain me (and I'm QUITE easily entertained). I admit, it's fun playing with the wiimote like a light gun, and I love zombies, but this game let me down a lot. I'd say if anything, hardcore RE fans MIGHT enjoy it as a rent, but otherwise just skip this one and wait until RE5 comes out.… Expand

Awesome game. ppl complained about the controls of all the other re games, so capcom took out almost all of the analog movements. i love that ammo isn't scarce this time,(for a good shooter) however, some of the files are hard to find. RE2 is in the game-(raccoon city with zombies) and i believe that RE4 is almost a completely different story altogether. I do agree, RE;CV should have been included (paris, artic). Resident Evil in my opinion has the BEST story/plot and characters of any video game. Now i need to find RE 0 since i can now play it on wii… Expand

Umbrella Chronicles is very repetitive and if you're not a dedicated fan of Resident Evil it's not worth your time. There is little to no replay value in this game, it's short and fairly easy especially with 2 players.

This game plays great and provides a new method of thrills the series hasn't seen before. It's very fun to pick up and play with friends, or just alone. It also has replay value with multiple paths, unseen shooter genre depth, and unlockables. However each scenario across RE Zero, RE, and RE 3 only had a few stages, and it all seemed too short with unclear storytelling. Had the game included around 5 missions for each game along with RE2, Code Veronica, and RE 4 (optional) stuff, it would've been amazing. Anyway, this is a great game for Wii owners and lots of fun.… Expand

While sometimes annoying, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is a great arcade-style rail shooter... but deeper than any other game of it's kind. The zombies look awesome (in their own cannibalistic way) and the 2-player mode is mayhem. Just another reason to get a Wii.

After 6 hours playing this game, i'm still only in the 2/3 chapter of 4... i was shocked at the amount of content and re-playability this game has to offer! Although i didn't like playing it for more then 1-2 hours at a time, i find myself coming back to it every day, and replaying levels over and over to get perfect scores, and weapon upgrades (i'm glad they left weapon upgrades in!). I would DEFINITELY recommend this game to anyone that has ever enjoyed a light gun game, but if you like REs Evil but not light gun games, you may come up disappointed... i've always found a certain level of strategy in light gun games due to not being able to simply run away, you have to plan events and think quickly. This game is DEFINITELY like that... single player can get quite intense and difficult (especially on hard) and Co-op is a really fun way to enjoy reliving the Resident Evil time line.… Expand

Wow I thought I bought Resident Evil, Not House of the Dead. It looks like Capcom took the same game engine and change the characters? Regarding RE4 on the Wii, yes at first the Wii controls are a bit hard to get use to but that is why you play the game. Bottom line they took a great game (RE4) and turned it into a crappy shooter. You can’t even control your characters movement. It looks like RE5 is going to be huge but there is talk they will not port to the wii. How lame is that? Wow. This game even though it's not very difficult.. it's insanely fun. Sometimes you dont want to have to Restart more then 5 times. This game has insane graphics, good guns, and more then awesome Original characters. Grab it, screw Halo.

I totally love this game. This game plays like a homage to the other games in the series. the cheesy B-movie type voice acting is intact (luv it) and includes most of the important characters from the franchise. The gameplay is more action oriented than the previous games (except RE4) but it's not as fast as most onrails shooters. It also last about 6-15 hours to beat. I gotta recommend it to any RE fan or even if you're not a fan, you'll have a lot of fun with this one.… Expand

Dissapointed with this, completely ditching everything that made 4, REmake and 0 so good on the Cube platform, Capcom has bestowed upon us a lame entry into the series. It was looking heads up for a bit. I find the gameplay to be very boring, I grow tired of the 'bang bang bang' of the gun to become abrasive and irritating. The fights are not that much fun and furthermore as far as filling in the gaps....why would I want to fight the same boss fights I've already fought in better iterations of the series? Graphics, sub-par compared even to REmake, colours are very dull. It doesn't look as good as RE4 or REmake, not even close. On rails. Star Fox on rails = great fun. Resident Evil on rails = lame. Ligth gun style games just got a generational ban from getting into my Wii. I guess if you liked playing House of the Dead in the arcade, you'd enjoy this....but why not wait until House of the Dead 2 / 3 come out on the Wii? If you're a RE purist...I say wait until this thing is $20- shouldn't be more than 6 months off from that price point. Not really worth adding to the RE collection available to date onthe Nintendo side of things.… Expand
