  1. Even if you remember the PS2 game with fondness, don't buy this one; your rose-tinted glasses will smash and you'll be left picking the splinters from your eyeballs as tears of blood roll down your cheeks. Also it's not worth £29.99.

I can't in good faith recommend Rygar: The Battle of Argus--both fans of the original and newcomers should avoid it. [Feb 2009, p.77]
  3. Rygar: The Battle of Argus is totally not a good game: some of the good ideas linked to the potential of WiiMote are ruined by an old game structure that frustrates the player a lot during the game and there's no point in graphics that are under the today's Wii average.
  4. Why buy the new one when the older, better version is still available at a reduced price? We know you have a PS2.
  5. t is not just bad, it is bad in an incredibly Wii-specific, low-effort sort of way you just don’t see on other consoles.
  6. 20
Nothing short of a total disaster.
  7. A shameless cash-in and should be avoided.
  8. Rygar: The Battle of Argus should have been a challenging and thrilling Wii experience, if only more care and attention was put into the final package.

*I have never played the original so i will not give it a rating based on a comparisong between the 2 like some reviewers have.* This game is*I have never played the original so i will not give it a rating based on a comparisong between the 2 like some reviewers have.* This game is truly a tragedy. There are loads of great ideas and promising content, but nothing can save it from its almost totally nonsensical dialogue and lack of a cohesive plot. The most story you get out of this game (that makes sense) is obtained through scrolls that display story text. There are really only 4 good points to this game. 1. The diskarmor is one of the most unique main weapons you'll ever use in an adventure game, and the fact you get three different diskarmors that all have very different styles and abilities is what keeps this game at a 5. 2. is the music, which has some questionable moments, but for the most part is done very tastefully and well timed. 3. is the boss battles and level design towards the end of the game. If only the first 5 hours played like the last 2 this game would have been a couple points higher in my book. Lastly is the updated character design. Like i said i didn't play the original version but i have seen both characters, and i must say, anime hair aside, the updated color scheme of the outfit, and even hair, is much more satisfying and charismatic.
The only thing else i would like to add is that i have seen 1 cinematic cutscene from the original version and it automatically gives it one point higher than this version. This wii version only had one cinematic cut scene and it was very out of nowhere. A very disappointing experience for a game i was hoping would revive the franchise.
