  1. Although it wasn't the most complete Soul Calibur game I've ever played, the Wii controls, the multiplayer modes, and the storyline make it worth playing for fans of the series.
  2. It's too bad, though, that the game feels like it would have worked better as a side mode than as a full game (think Devil Within from Tekken 5). [Holiday 2007, p.86]
  3. Soulcalibur Legends does offer some solid hack-'n-slash gaming that'll also make for a nice Wii tech demo to show your non-gaming friends and family over the holidays. But in the end, the title's appeal will likely expire before that half-drunk carton of egg nog sitting in your fridge.
  4. I'm really f'ing sick of developers throwing Wii gamers crappy titles with familiar logos slapped on the front of the box. Yeah, it sells games, but it also demeans their entire franchise that they built from the ground up.
  5. Here’s a better idea, though: Find a cheap used copy of Soulcalibur II for the Gamecube and play that on the Wii. It’s the fighting game that you expect Soulcalibur to be, it’s a deeper game, and hey… it’s got Link.
  6. This repetitious trudge is nothing to do with Soul Calibur beyond some character skins, and should be avoided unless you want to lose the will to live. [Feb 2008, p.52]
  7. Legends imply greatness; but Soul Calibur Legends is only the greatest loser -- a throwaway hack-and-slash action game. Unattractive, lacking depth, and generally not fun, this dull blade can't parry its long list of flaws with anything worthwhile.

I love this game. I recently got a secondhand Wii. It has 40 odd games and some classics like Mario Galaxy etc.. But which game do I like to play most? This one. Soul Calibur has easy to pick up and responsive controls- the onscreen sword responds very well to the wii remote and num chuck.

The graphics are good, I found the story quite lightweight but entertaining. It is a good workout to play- I finish after a 20 minute session with a light sweat from swinging the remote about so much.

As a 32 year old gamer I have played a lot of serious PC games and have lately come to appreciate the casual fun that a fun sword swinging game like this offers.

I would give it 8 but seeing as how this game has so many miserable ratings I am upping it to 10 to push the meta up a bit. Enjoy!

I thought this game was very dull at first glance but as I kept playing more and more I started to like it. I thought the graphics were not so special but the game play is clearly geared for experts and not for noobies. The controls don't automatically let you hit your enemy like in the older versions of this game. In this game you must really get a feel for each character type and master blocking. I find it sad that people flame this game when it just came out, I know they haven't played it more then 10 minutes. Expand

This game was amazing. it was the first one I could find where the wii controllers actually worked. When you swing left, the guy swings left. When you swing right, h swings right. Whoever is putting out reviews that gave this game a 14 can just go screw a goat. seriously. Expand

Good game let down by only a coupe of flaws, it's still good solid fun.

Very repetitive, doesn't take too long to become boring.

What the hell is this!? This is just some poor cheap spin-off that is nothing to the series. God damn it, Namco, We want Soul Calibur IV on the Wii, not a stupid spin-off game! Expand

Soulcalibur Legends is a generic, repetitive and unspectacular hack-n-slash spin off to the popular Namco 1 on 1 seventeenth century fighting series. Graphics are comparable to mid PS2 era but the frame rate does maintain a refreshing 60FPS making the game very smooth to play. Soulcalibur Legends can be compared to various other Japanese fighting games which require you to kill hordes of enemies and not much else such as Dynasty Warriors and Ninja Gaiden. Combat is actually quite satisfying actually but are you prepared to maintain that satisfaction throughout 40 levels? It's an interesting departure from the usual shenanigans seen in the series but it really is not worth your time.

I secretly DO like this game but I'm writing this review for a general gamer and I can honestly say that the game's repetition will not bode well with them.
