35The obvious rush has resulted a very boring and lifeless Manhattan. We all know the Wii isn't exactly a powerhouse when it comes to graphics, but when it looks like an early port of the PSP game, you're better off looking elsewhere (PS3/Xbox 360) for your Spidey fix -- this isn't even worthy of being called a "guilty pleasure."
-
35This is one spider you'll want to squish.
-
20The game fails on every level. The controls are a mess, the camera is terrible, and the presentation is offensively bad.
-
40The graphics never rise above abysmal, with disappearing textures tag-teamed and an uneven frame rate. The controls, however, ruin the experience. While web swinging offers a few fleeting moments of joy, the tedious combat and horrific camera controls (even worse than the other versions) kill the fun, causing achy wrists.
-
Derivative of "Spider-Man 2" and with double the problems. [July 2007, p.74]
-
47Sure, the Wii version throws in some new motion-sensing controls, and you still get to swing around inside a giant, open-ended version of New York City. But everything else about these iterations of Spider-Man 3 is ugly, clumsy, or utterly boring.
-
40It's so dumbed down that it might actually be more appropriate for children if it weren't for the T rating on the package. Just play the 360 version. Actually, scratch that, just go play Spider-Man 2 instead. It's worlds better than this. There are actually parts of this that look like they're right out of the original PlayStation game from 2000.
-
30This proves nothing is infallible, but for such a high profile release you do have to wonder how long this took to put together and why it shipped in such a state.
-
25The uninspired fighting is replicated by waggling the Wii remote instead of hitting a button, which is as much of a disaster here as it is in any other game.
-
Dull, and in many cases, incredibly annoying and frustrating. [July 2007, p.86]
-
That same swinging goes awry more often than not, and the graceful Spider-Man smacks face-first into a building.
-
40If you want scripting and performance, go see the movie, and unless you are a Marvel devotee, you'd be wise to steer well clear of this friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
